Sussex Whine made from sour grapes.

There is actually wine produced in Sussex (which I doubt M could point to on a map. Did she ever set foot there when she was in the UK?)

Piling up high and selling cheap can provide a sustainable income stream

Not very elevated though, is it?? And why would anyone buy from her rather than Amazon or their local equivalent of Poundland?

And I really don't believe she's got the infrastructure in place to launch a mass market concern with rapid turnaround. Something surely would have leaked out about suppliers, contracts, etc.

I have many wooden spoons but my favourite one must be over 20 years old, it's matured and the spoony end is a nice dark brown, it's a lot smoother than the newer ones too. If Meghan did a line in vintage, well worn wooden spoons, I would probably buy one.

myrtleWilson · 01/03/2025 21:29

@Stickystickysticky This vintage/re-found shop near me in the NE has a lovely supply of old wooden spoons. I adore this shop - over the years I've bought blankets and kitsch cushions, french puy lentil tins, soap, mirrors and wooden spoons!

also an array of Day of the Dead stuff, including some awesome papier mache skulls that still sit in our dining room.

Stickystickysticky · 01/03/2025 21:37

@myrtleWilson I might treat myself to a wooden rolling pin !

myrtleWilson · 01/03/2025 21:40

tbh @Stickystickysticky I've had my eye on them - they look like they give some proper heft to a roll!

Stickystickysticky · 01/03/2025 21:47

There's also a certain sound that a wooden rolling pin makes, that reminds me of baking with my mum when I was little. I've got a posh but silent glass one at the moment and it's just not the same.

Scorchio84 · 01/03/2025 21:53

@Stickystickysticky oh my god the same! My auntie has one that predates Methusela, the noise & the feel takes me back to making apple tarts in her kitchen

Also very posh! I didn't know you could get fancy glass ones

MrsLeonFarrell · 01/03/2025 22:00

My favourite wooden spoon belonged to my Granny.

LaBarruci · 01/03/2025 22:05

@MissRoseDurward M&H made one visit to East and West Sussex that I know of, about four months into their marriage, whizzing around both counties at top speed in just a couple of days, or even just one day. They looked at some old documents such as a copy of the American Declaration of Independence in Chichester, some medieval records in Lewes, took in Bognor Regis, Brighton and Peacehaven as well, did some gladhanding, and stopped in at a couple of youth charities.

My mother had a glass one, never used though the wooden ones were. My understanding is that pastry needs to be kept cold, so you fill it with iced water.

BemusedAmerican · 01/03/2025 22:48

Sorry, meant to say declining US wine sales.

I vaguely remember someone posting that Prince Andrew had been hot in his youth. I googled old photos, and I honestly don't see it. I wonder if it's cultural? I've also looked at photos of a young Prince Philip and to me he looks average, not on the level of a Greek god.

Edited for typo.

Do you know that makes so much sense now you've said it.. my mammy had a plastic one that she used to fill with cold water, I used to think it was for the weight but what you've said makes way more sense & i haven't thought about that in 100 years

Stickystickysticky · 01/03/2025 22:55

My glass one is solid and camouflages itself against the worktop and in the drawer so I can never easily find the blooming thing

Edited

I never thought Andrew was attractive either, Prince Philip was very striking when was younger though.

Re the decline in sales of wine , something else that obviously hasn't been researched properly by Meghan.

My mum's glass one was empty, with a plastic cap each end. Loads of recipes stress keeping the dough cold.

Miss Marple refers to one maid having good, cold hands for pastry

BemusedAmerican · 01/03/2025 23:30

Attach a post-it to the end of the glass rolling pin before you put it away. You can see the post-it and easily remove it. I use a post-it for the ends of rolls of wide clear tape. It makes it easier to find the end and you can remove it.

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 01/03/2025 23:35

My favourite wooden spoon came free with my first box of Gousto . I've stopped the boxes but love the spoon.

jeffgoldblum · 01/03/2025 23:59

My dad made my wooden rolling pin!!!
He used to be into wood turning! , it's very posh looking because it's not the usual wood! ❤️

BemusedAmerican · 02/03/2025 01:23

James Holt, the Archewell president, has a brother, Thomas, who makes wine for the Paso-Primero wine company in Spain. He may be her wine connection.

Thank you, Words!

Someone on the previous thread asked whether Meghan could perhaps launch cookies with a 'regal theme'.

Problem with a regal theme is that Meghan has bravely rejected the regal life, stating outright and by implication/through 'academic' talking heads that the Royal Family refused to help her at her lowest, laughed in the face of her suicidality, fed her to wolves (but not before stealing her passport and making her live in substandard accommodation with dodgy flooring), insulted her children, refused her lip balm for her chapped kissers, and are, moreover, racist and colonialist.

If a celeb is going to associate their name with a particular foodstuff, we need to believe at least on some level that the celeb in question might occasionally eat that foodstuff themselves. I am sure that Meghan would never sully her lips with any sustenance that had even the slightest connection with her evil torturers.

Also, there's Duchy Originals.

Kate even gave her the lip balm, just didn't look enthusiastic enough about sharing it!

AtIusvue · 02/03/2025 06:21

new insta video up.

Lily….again, half obscured playing a board game with Serena Williams.

Is there no private moment she won’t use as promo for her show? What’s it got to do with it anyway? She’s using the tagline ‘3days before the party begins. All are invited’

what on earth has Lily playing a board game got to do with it? She also seems to be recording every single moment of their lives. Those kids must have been brought up with constant cameras and phones….at their own parents doing. Must be like living at a Kardashians.

AtIusvue · 02/03/2025 06:37

Also they’re clearly in a room that the kids are not usually allowed in. Pristine white sofas either side of a table, with generic coffee table books and mini vases on top.

The decor is incredibly bland and dated. Usually these celebs, particularly those who are in the lifestyle business…all clamour to get featured in an issue of Architectural Digest. It’s like the Vogue of Interiors mags. She wouldn’t get one if thats what the rest of the house looks like. It looks like she’s bought everything from Pottery Barn or the more expensive Pottery Barn- Restoration Hardware (both are just an expensive NEXT or ZARA home )

Which is all fine….but it wouldn’t get you into to AD.
