The problem is she isn't a young mother, she is a mother with young children which is different. I keep banging this drum but Meghan, be yourself, an experienced middle aged woman who is juggling work and family. That's your audience not young Instagram mums, there are plenty of those out there who are far more authentic.

But she is emotionally immature and perhaps she realises now she is out of her depth and likely won't be taken seriously in her own peer group/generation.

Taylor Swift also comes across as incredibly emotionally immature for a woman in her late 30s. She'll be 40 in a few years and yet she seems to pitch her stuff at pre-teens and teens, I think that is what she is comfortable with.. masses of young girls looking up to and idolising her. Someone of her own age is more likely to look past the glitter and millions and see that she is late thirties, a long string of failed relationships, single, no prospect of a family anytime soon, many of her songs are bitter and scornful of men, and her public interactions strangely infantile (clapping games, jumping on the balls of her feet and squealing - reminds me of Meghan with the clapping actually.)

I think Meghan has largely shelved the serious business woman, world speaker etc angle and is having a go instead at appealing to young girls and young mothers. It makes sense in a way as they are less likely to be discerning and more likely to find her aspirational. I still think its clutching at straws though when there are already a million others on Instagram doing it so much better.

AtIusvue · 24/02/2025 10:40

Yeh, as someone that supposed to tell us about gardening in her new show, seems odd to not use a hose nozzle to control the flow, pressure of the water.

I completely disagree about Taylor Swift but that would be a massive thread derail.

I don't see much evidence that anyone is finding Meghan aspirational and Mindy lauding her for using table lamps as if she invented electricity doesn't really help.

AtIusvue · 24/02/2025 10:49

As Time goes on, we are just going to see more and more of the layout of her home. Surely that has security implications?

For Harry, that seems an odd thing to allow, seen as he has made his whole career about how at risk he and his family are.

Recently Michelle keegans home was burgled….and experts say when you show off your home online, you’re giving criminals the chance to have a look for valuable and assess your security.

Thedom · 24/02/2025 10:19

Going back to Meghan's article about the miscarriage, at the time, posters on here were commenting how it came hot on the heels of Chrissy Teigan being applauded for sharing and being so open out about her experience with a miscarriage, there were so many positive opinion pieces about Chrissy and John Legend, it hit every mainstream media outlet. Lo and behold maybe 8 weeks later Meghan is recounting her experience (plagiarised writing too) in a magazine, if I remember correctly Meghan never mentioned how far her pregnancy had progressed before she miscarried.

She didn’t but Harry gave it away in Spare by telling us when she discovered she was pregnant and when she had her miscarriage. It was very early, a matter of weeks.

AtIusvue · 24/02/2025 10:50

At time goes on too, the children will get more and more exposure. Until they also come part of the brand.

Then everyone will see them for the hypocrites that they are. Using their kids like that.

AtIusvue · 24/02/2025 10:54

I see she’s at 2.1 million insta followers, in just over 7 weeks.

For the worldwide exposure she has, the press headlines she gets…..that doesn’t seem a particularly high number to me.

Nothing to sniff at but I feel it would be at 4/5 million insta followers if she was popular in the States.

@FromThePrismOfJammyTodger - don't think they have switched colours . My university's colour was purple but the gowns for graduation had a different edging colour depending on which subject / faculty you were graduating in. I think different by university - not sure about US - but I can believe she didn't have purple on her gown quite easily.

Edited to add - I mean I have seen photos of her in her graduation gown - but don't think that means NW changed their colours. Clumsily said but hope you can unpick the gist

Edited

Thank you. I just looked it up, it's a very vivid, shiny purple that has been the colour since the 1800s. From the pictures online, everyone is in the bright purple, but then wearing different colour scarves, which I assume denotes their degree course. Perhaps the picture of MM I am thinking about is a high school graduation or something, but I thought it was with one of her uni friends, so I'm confusing myself! Maybe it was just bad lighting making the purple look darker.

BasiliskStare · 24/02/2025 10:55

Not only have I been using table lamps since before Meghan was born I also have a set of coupe glasses (I don't like to preen). I have missed my calling

@Thedom - looking at that Etsy advertisement (90's vintage ) I would have thought that's before Meghan went there so either it is Diana's actual sweat shirt or she's bought one off Etsy or similar. I think - can't remember where I read this - it was a limited edition.

I don't think she needs this cosplay / Diana references. We see enough of the Cartier watch with her left handed forehead slapping. Although in her defence I think it is a lovely watch and if DH had given me that watch which had been his mother's I would wear it all the time too. Sadly , great mother as my MIL was , she singularly failed to be in possession of a gold Cartier Tank watch. Ach well - thems the breaks.

NormaMajors1992coat · 24/02/2025 10:56

Slightly weird anti Taylor Swift rant there - presumably she pitches her music at young people because that's who likes and buys pop music - same as everyone else, Billie Eilish, Harry Styles, Take That, the Beatles etc etc back to its beginnings. And she's not single, she's in what seems a steady relationship and has been with him for a good while, so probably does have the prospect of a family if that's what they want?

Also I'm a bit disappointed in Mindy propping up this Meghan garbage.

Ohpleeeease · 24/02/2025 10:56

That Insta video.
I can’t make up my mind if it was a “Fuck you, look at my amazing life, you will never bring me down” statement. Or whether she is really so self absorbed that she doesn’t consider how this will land with people who are, shall we say, not so fortunate.

Obviously her die hard fans will lap it up. But for the purposes of gathering new supporters, this seemed to strike the wrong note.

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 24/02/2025 09:31

That is weird wearing exactly the same top- why would H want his wife to dress like his mum?

I agree - it's weird and creepy! My DH would be horrified if I dressed like his DM 😆

MaturingCheeseball · 24/02/2025 11:07

She’ll be cosplaying Granny (“I love grandmas!” 😡 ) next with a headscarf and nice tweed skirt. Actually I really like QEII’s casual wear!

AtIusvue · 24/02/2025 11:09

@Ohpleeeease

As time goes on too, more and more of this lifestyle will be exposed, giving more opportunity to be labelled as out of touch, elitist etc

Give them enough rope seems to be what the RF attitude is. I think that’s what will happen here. The more and more she willingly exposes, the more people won’t like it.

Also, America right now is at risk of becoming a predatory state with the Trump administration. It’s an absolute whirlwind of change. As someone who says, that saying nothing is the worst thing to do, she’s conspicuously quiet. Just like a lot of the celeb democrats.

How can she be someone that called herself an activist. Talked about racism etc. Yet doesn’t say anything about the eradication of DEI etc?

Instead, she focusing on her perfect bubble of a life. With blossoms on the trees and drinking champagne with a twist of orange, plucked fresh from her garden. Lots of people are going to think what the hell is going on.

Inflation is still going up in the US. That’s not going to stop with these silly tariffs. She doesn’t get it.

Take someone like Jamie Oliver. The man is worth serious money. Yet he always know how to adjust his recipes and image for the times. So we had the Covid meals, when he was cooking with cupboard foods. He’s done quick meals for busy parents. Meals with minimal ingredients which helps with the cost. It’s why he’s been around for so long. To sell to the masses, you have understand the world they live in.

MissFenellaPrism · 24/02/2025 11:11

I think those are excellent points, @AtIusvue . Meghan is just a very privileged, wealthy Trad Wife. No politics, no social commentary, just clothes, food and accessories.
That's it.

SnoozingFox · 24/02/2025 11:13

MaggieMistletoe · 24/02/2025 09:35

It is so twisted and disconcerting to see her dressing up as Diana. Why would you dress in iconic outfits of your dead MIL? It makes me think of Norman Bates, or of the scene in Rebecca where she wears the Shepherdess outfit. Makes me think she really is quite unhinged.

The whole Netflix documentary was basically "Meghan is the reincarnation of Diana", another woman who is the bestest royal ever, better than all the rest of the family, they were SO threatened by her beauty and brilliance they had to manage her out.

Deluded.

AtIusvue · 24/02/2025 11:14

In fact, Meghan going round her garden, showing us all the blossoms and fruit. Showing the champagne cocktail and the sunshine.

It’s like the book, The Garden of Time, where the count and countess live in a luxurious world, and use magical flowers to slow down time, in order to keep the real world and the masses at bay.

I think his current security complaints are about getting limitless taxpayer funding for himself when in the UK, and in dangerous places like Westminster Abbey and St Paul's Cathedral. 🙄
Nothing about California, Nigeria, the Caribbean etc etc. they're all safe there!

Exactly what I was thinking, @AtIusvue An exercise in delusion. I suppose empires have been built on this. But not lifestyle empires.

That's really not an impressive number at all.

Their 'Sussex Royal' Instagram got one million followers in about an hour, breaking Jennifer Aniston's record. Aniston also got about 10 million followers in her first day.

2 million is embarrassingly low for someone with Meghan's fame.

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 24/02/2025 11:25

I just think using a hose to water plants, after the most devastating fires where whole neighborhoods were lost due to running out of water is just tone deaf.

14,000 homes were lost in the fire. And she is watering plants.

MissRoseDurward · 24/02/2025 11:26

As Time goes on, we are just going to see more and more of the layout of her home. Surely that has security implications?

Is it definitely their house and garden or some other house used for filming purposes?

FromThePrismOfJammyTodger · 24/02/2025 11:26

I can't remember who was talking about it now, but Tom Quinn, who has written the book Yes Ma'am, interviewed a former KP staffer for the book, who told him MM wants to complete the work Diana started or some such. She also registered IP for the name "Princess Meghan Markle" in 2014! I think the whole Diana worship thing is both a longstanding one on MM's part (pre Harry) and is just getting weirder and creepier as time goes on.

Does he not want IPP status giving g him armed protection 24/7 wherever he is ?
