Where's Doria?

She used to attended public social events with H&M - cant remember the last one? She always comes across as classy and calm - I wonder how she deals with it all? Think she had a tough enoughh time in her early marriage to an older man with difficult teenage step children. Do we know if she remarried or had a partner after Thomas?

So you are saying that as far as you're concerned Meghan has dumped her mother and is having nothing to do with her, is that what you think?

Hardly reasonable at all and you under estimate the bond between a mother and a daughter.

We know nothing about the bond between Meghan and Doria. But we do know that there are many familial and other bonds which Meghan has ruthlessly broken. Who knows why, or what the truth is, but she and her entire family seem mightily dysfunctional to me.

BustingBaoBun · 23/02/2025 11:03

Had never heard of her/it. (Mildred Pierce) I've looked. So you base your assumption on a mini series.
I'm outta this thread. I knew it was started with the idea of knocking Meghan via her Mother. Not my thing, Doria doesn't deserve it.

MaturingCheeseball · 23/02/2025 10:57

Hmmmm, I suggest you watch Mildred Pierce…

It has to be the Joan Crawford original though !

MaturingCheeseball · 23/02/2025 11:32

@DuchessDissasster - oh, absolutely! I’m practically word perfect!

I thought Meghan may have employed the old “grandmother’s recipe book” thing and in her show do some cooking with Doria. Maybe she does!

Who has a grandmother’s recipe book?! My granny only made watery ham sandwiches and currant cake so dry there was just a pile of sawdust on your plate. Served with tea where there was one carrying tea and nine water…

yep any excuse to bash meghan , but then this is the meghanbash topic.

I would imagine she just wants to get on with her life in peace and quiet

I have a recipe book which fairly evidently belonged to my grandmother. It is very old-looking. It has some blank pages in it so that you could write your own notes and I am very pleased to say that she wrote in it - I assume it's her writing because it is quite like her daughter's and son's but not quite theirs. I love the fact that I can touch what she touched. 'Wartime ginger beer'. 'Soda bread'.
Don't tell me I'm off-topic. I expect 85% of people on here have de-railed along the way.

Not very true to the book, though. The Kate Winslet series was much more accurate. I love the Joan Crawford version, but reading Mommy Dearest has tainted everything she's in for me.

Jamismyjammytodger · 23/02/2025 20:17

Having looked up Doria's care home, Loving Kindness, I don't think it's anything other than a shell company. It's got one of those websites that doesn't take you anywhere substantive, and I watched a Sidley Twins episode from last year about it, that tells you not to give them your data. Just a warning in case anyone was going to sign on!

Yes, it is another thread intended to bash Meghan, and in the guise of ‘oh what is Doria doing now?’ . Just as I thought when I first saw it, but OP and some other posters protested it wasn’t.

Is it her care home? Did she buy it? I thought she was retired.

JoyousGreyOrca · 23/02/2025 21:48

Bloody hell!
It is not a shell company. Doria is the hired boss. It is a care agency.

People have looked into it. There's nothing there beyond that link. By all means though, sign up and see if they reply to you, I'd be interested to know.

Where does it even mention Doria? No staff are mentioned.

It is a care agency. Why would it mention staff on its website?
I love how people have decided it is a shell company based on nothing.

You would think that management would be mentioned or some details about the staff and their training. How does anyone know she’s the boss?

DuchessDissasster · 23/02/2025 23:35

@Jacquettes you jumped to a conclusion there without reading my post. I said nothing about Meghan or Doris being Mildred Pierce. What I did say is that Joan Crawford was the biz with bitches in roles.

@JoyousGreyOrca . I am not basing it on nothing. What are you basing your counter opinion on? Please feel free to do your own searches and put me straight if I am wrong, I certainly do not claim to be an expert. I am, however, cautious (as all sensible people should be) about who I allow access to my data.

The company registration lists DR as CEO, CFO and Company Secretary. She's not only the "hired boss", she appears to do several key roles.

The registration documents for LKSC lists the address of the lawyer who registered it, and that same lawyer's address is listed as the mailing and head office address. That same address is also listed as being DR's address.

Under the box headed "Type of Business: Describe the type of business of the corporation" it is written, "Entertainment".

Having done a quick search for company filings, the last filing I can find listed is for 2021, which indicates (to me) that the company is not currently trading.

The company status is described as "Forfeited Ftb". A Google search of that term gives the following result: When your business has been suspended or forfeited, it is not in good standing and loses its rights, powers, and privileges to do business in California.

The website you linked is a single page. There is scant information on it, and what there is is generic.

The website says LKSC is a member of ALCA (Aging Life Care Association). I've advance searched the ALCA website for DR and LKSC in both California and Delaware and no results come up.

No therapists or other employees are listed. You would expect at the very least that a leadership team would be listed with their credentials.

There is no contact number, email address, social media addresses or physical address listed on the website.

The only way of contacting LKSC on the website is to request a free consultation. I know of a couple of online commentators who have contacted LKSC for the free consultation offered on the website, and who were never contacted back.

Scrolling to the bottom of the page, I clicked on the hyper link provided for the site designer. It says, "No results found." I'm not finding any results when I Google the site creator named.

I have been prompted to look at this because several UK posters on another thread have signed up for ARO and As Ever, but have not received a subscription email and the requisite information about how to unsubscribe which is also not available on their web pages). I understand this is in violation of Californian data protection rules. And clearly, one wants to have control over one's data. This is why I issued the warning about sending data to the LKSC link.

As I said above, I am happy to be put straight on any of the above if you have contrary information.

Edited for a spelling mistake

Interesting.. I am just interested in her. No axe to grind.

It has to be the Joan Crawford original though !

With the slimy Zachary Scott, nasty piece of work Ann Blyth and wisecracking Eve Arden it's fabulous and so wonderfully overwrought. Talk about chewing scenery.

James M Cain's book is a classic from one of the originators of the hardboiled crime fiction genre. It's a long while since I read it, and can't remember if the movie is substantially different, but like the Cain books I have read it's shortish and snappy and about the dark side of the characters (if I remember correctly).

Your ad hominem attack on me is predictable. My post is about protecting data should anyone be tempted to give information to the link on the website of a corporate entity. Don't you believe in internet safety?

But you've allowed me to add another point:

A "privacy policy" that is linked is nothing to do with protecting the consumer. A privacy policy is a legal document that informs users about how you collect and handle their personal data. The one on the LKSC basically warns the consumer that they are liable to legal action wrt communications the consumer receives, and that LKSC takes no legal responsibility. That's not a legitimate privacy policy.

How can old people's care be entertainment ?

MaturingCheeseball · 24/02/2025 09:09

Funny how posters seize upon an easy win: I was joking when I mentioned Mildred Pierce as an example of mother/daughter friction. I’m sure I could find some real life examples if it suits. It is near-on 100% that the “child” bleeds the parent dry and the parent keeps coming back for more because, well, that’s what parents do.

Poor old Joan Crawford… actually, her (adopted) daughter did make money out of her (as pp mentions) with the Mommie Dearest memoir. Her other dcs dispute its stories.

(Off topic, but Betty and Joan is an excellent watch!)
