Meghan has renamed her luxury lifestyle brand 'As Ever'.

'As Ever essentially means as it's always been, and if you've followed me since 2014 with The Tig, you know I've always loved cooking and crafting and gardening — this is what I do,' she said. '

Also, just where are the superfans?

I remember the arguments that ARO wasn’t ‘launched’….even though it was, that she will get the TM ….and there’s no way that it would.

Have they just tired of defending the indefensible?

I was surprised at the lack of a thread gushing over her Invictus fashions.

It was TV gold 🤣

Good point, that had escaped me. There was always one for her tours etc. Now nothing.

Just popping this here too!

Revisiting my post from earlier!
I'm now wondering if Meghan thought no one would notice because she thinks , we are stupid and she would class this as an obscure place?

PeggyMitchellsCameo · 18/02/2025 13:49

Thinking back to Fergie. I’m not a huge fan of hers for sticking by her ex-husband, but back in the day she did get a bit of a raw deal. He was hardly home, the press hounded her over her weight, and she didn’t do well in the divorce.
When she went to America she did the one thing that endeared her to ordinary women and played on an insecurity that plagues so many of us - her weight. Different times, might I add. Her deal with Weight Watchers was in fact a big deal. They got a Duchess, who was actually quite candid in those days, and she got paid well.
How she’s earned some of her cash since is immoral, but that original move was a clever one.
It is clear that both Meghan and Harry need to make big money and probably pretty fast, but I’m not sure if jam and dog bowls are going to make them a fortune.
If you are creating a line, then things like homewares and even your own wine seem to be bigger earners - I’m thinking Kylie Minogue.
I would forget about being too uptown and go for a huge outlet to do a deal with - Target?

Good for her. There was a problem with the previous name, I seem to remember reading. So she is trying to make a buck - why not? I dont understand the hate for her.

HeyIAmGlidingHere · 18/02/2025 13:54

Yes, Kylie has had a success story with her wine. Even learned Gary Barlow has his own, too? Then you've got your Danny de Vitos and George Clooneys. But the problem is that whatever they do/come up with now, to be self-sufficient, they'll be slammed for - just as Fergie was.
Perfumes, candles, wine...it will all be seen as grifting/cashing in. They cannot win in that respect. She'd be better off returning to acting, as a pp said.

MrsPeregrine · 18/02/2025 13:54

doubleshotcappuccino · 18/02/2025 10:12

It's like being back with the girls school bullies - can't hate the woman of colour in public but online .. no problem at all - shameful to have so much hate for a stranger - and this is parents forum so most of you will have children soaking in this toxicity - makes me shudder to be so negatively invested -

What’s skin colour got to do with anything?

BunnyLake · 18/02/2025 13:55

Greenfencebrowntree · 18/02/2025 13:35

Oh God yeah, I can imagine her being filmed travelling glamorously around the world sourcing rare ingredients from fairtrade women's cooperatives. Each scent would tell a tale (at great length, judging by her Instagram waffle). Add some classy packaging (i.e. not going down the Britney Spears route but just something simple without her face on it, just call it "With Love"), and heck, if it smelt nice, I'd buy it. Despite her.

Which is what she should have done in the very beginning of their self imposed exile. No Oprah, no whining, just leaning into the glamour and glitz. She would be laughing all the way to the bank now and her reputation would be untainted. No matter how bad the world is people like a bit of glamour to brighten dull days. Instead of channeling Diana and Wallis she should have channelled Liz Taylor and even Dolly Parton, glamour, glitz and fun.

Onlyonekenobe · 18/02/2025 13:56

Ummmmm As Ever is already a brand.

Besides that, As Ever just says "yeah, what I said before, too busy to think of anything meaningful". It says bored, lethargic, repetitious, same old same old, let's move on to more interesting and worthwhile things. Perfect for not just a brand, a re-brand.

It's quite clear where this is all heading. All that bollocks over the past 5 years about humanitarian stuff, all the conferences about the online space and protecting children, all the zoom lectures exhorting people to vote/show compassion/save the environment/not bully/empower girls, the podcasts, books and interviews etc - that was all pretend play. This is what she's always been, she says, and she's going back to her roots. Their efforts since they left the RF have been an exercise at throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks.

I can see them settling down into him doing the Invictus Games (which, I note, she referred to but didn't tag with an @ in her posts - very deliberate, and I wonder why), she doing this lifestyle shilling on Instagram. I don't know where the Parents' Action stuff fits in. Difficult to be taken seriously when you're prancing about your garden with your daughter (not making money off her children, no way, only the RF are made to do that apparently) in a floaty princess dress before lecturing people on how to throw tea and dinner parties. Also difficult to see where any faux-royal tours might fit in, unless they really tone them down, make the Archewell brand the single most prominent thing about them <hollow laugh> , and be super clear in the cause they're pursuing on such tours and please let it not be her ego.

friendlycat · 18/02/2025 13:56

It’s just an awful awful name. It means nothing but lends itself well to unfortunate ridicule.

As others have pointed out she has no firm link to cooking unlike Nigella, Martha, Ina Garten, pioneer woman etc so there’s just no credible authenticity. Perfume would have been far far more suitable as you just put your name to a product that’s been developed for you. Trying to present yourself as an artisan in a saturated food market without any historical heavyweight involvement is so false that it just doesn’t stack up.

I can’t see this being a roaring success at all.

jeffgoldblum · 18/02/2025 13:57

Sorry @MrsPeregrine , I know you are being serious but all I saw or can hear now is ...."what's love got do , got to do with it"

PeggyMitchellsCameo · 18/02/2025 14:01

I just read that piece. Thoughtful living.
In the words of Pamela Shipman, oh my Christ!
Honestly, most women I know are absolutely overwhelmed at the moment.
Dealing with kids - who looks after hers?
Dealing with a sick parent - who looks after hers?
Family issues - doesn’t bother.
I am not saying we are all grumpy and not enjoying life because lots of us do are best to stay well, enjoy friendships etc.
But to me thoughtful living means will my other half finally move the bastard step ladders he said he’d move three days ago which we are now in a stand-off over. It means will I need another bastard root canal when I go to the dentist on Friday, who will charge me £500 plus for it. It means will I stay awake to watch Eastenders and will I wake up at 3 am wondering why I didn’t marry Simon Le Bon and what is going to happen to my lovely wallpaper if I get new windows done?
How many hairs will I find growing out of my chin tomorrow?
Why does my skin come out in hives every time I try new skincare?
Why is every part of my body, including my eyeballs, dry?
Will I ever be arsed to have sex again or will I just give up?
Thoughtful living. I’m too bloody tired. 😂

I don’t either. I used to follow ‘The Tig’ back in the day and enjoy it. She certainly looks very young and relaxed in the video.

I don't think you can compare her to two very talented women.

I agree that a perfume or cosmetics line would have been a much better bet than a homeware line, but that market is saturated too. I think since Covid people have been moving past the whole 'celebrity' thing and there would be a limit to how much she could sell simply by being the wife of an exiled prince. I don't think they were ever going to make the sort of money they dreamed of, even if they'd played all their cards right, which of course is the opposite of what they have done.

She is interesting to watch as she gets it so wrong, so consistently. The breathless ingenue look is awful.

The RF were right to just ignore them and give them enough rope to hang themselves.

Looking forward to the South Park episode!

She really does overdo the breathless, whispery, gushing thing. They rattle on about being authentic yet she seems to sum up fake with every ongoing media appearance. I wonder why H and their sponsors in the US don't see it. They're a laughing stock, the pair of them.

BasiliskStare · 18/02/2025 14:07

I the problem she may have with perfume is either it has to be wonderful ( and that's such a personal thing ) or you need the glamour and the popularity so people buy it anyway (cf David Beckham and aftershave - although he does appear to be a one man money making machine who can sell anything he touches. )

It seems you can still buy Elizabeth Taylor's perfume "Passion" though a quick google says it seems like not premium pricing - relatively cheap.
Which reminds me of a (probably apocryphal ) story . Chap goes to a perfume counter to buy a present for his wife. "Have you got Elizabeth Taylor's Passion?" says he. Sales assistant - "No , but neither would you if you worked here"

😂I'm here all week , try the fish.

Of course she couldn’t touch either of those women for talent or charisma but she still would have been better off going for glamour (hot of the heels of being royalty) rather than all the humanitarian, trying to change the world for the better, poor pitiful me guff. Better a fake glamourpuss than a fake humanitarian.

Vespanest · 18/02/2025 14:11

I do think this fits in with the vanity fair narrative that it's Meghan that is now responsible for the income stream and left her straddling where her products best fit. Ideally the flamingo estate which heavily influenced ARO was her original market but I'm not sure the turnover is in region to support a royal family lifestyle, the same with Nigella and others than she is compared with. if she enters the beauty market, she hasn't got the fanbase such as rhianna or Ariana, and whilst a perfume range maybe popular, it tends to be short lived and none of the comparables to Meghan need the income to support the longterm needs of Harry.

Thanks for the link.

"'As ever' means 'as it's always been' or some even say 'in the same way as always,'" said Meghan's post.

She should have called it "Stagnant".

Oh look its Meghan annoying as ever!! 😂

When I saw the header ''As ever'' I assumed it would be about a teenage girl having a strop ''As everr! '' .

It's not a good name.
