@Mylovelygreendress - the polo debacle was just toe curlingly embarrassing - I loved it 😉

I’m not Meghan but what if she was only trying to help?

Help with what exactly ... I can only see her desperate to claw back her reputation, or hoping history will look at the photos and believe she was Diana rebooted ... she's more Wallis Simpson Jack booted, but more narcissistic and manipulative

BasiliskStare · 13/02/2025 13:57

And @GiveMeSpanakopita she has elevated them by placing them on a wooden chopping board next big bucket of citrus fruit. Bring on Love Meghan for more top lifestyle tips 😂🍊🍋🍰🍧

Has it not occurred to posters that criticism of Meghan and Harry is because of the way they behave?
If they stopped behaving in such a bizarre and unthinking fashion over and over again, the criticism would stop .

This! Just stop trying soo hard to be popular and VIPs. Their desperation is palpable.

JoyousGreyOrca · 13/02/2025 14:29

How do they try to stop being "popular" and "VIPs"?

Well they're gonna need a LOT of elevating because those things go hard as rock if not eaten within a few hours of purchase. They'll be truly adamantine after a flight from Canada. I hope the kids have strong teeth!

But you are saying they need to stop acting like they are popular or VIPs. So what should they be doing? How do you actually want them to do?

It wasn’t me that said they should. But the way to stop it is to stop it. Stop making appearances, going on faux tours etc

PigglyWigglyOhYeah · 13/02/2025 05:26

I think it's so weird that Meghan is cheering Harry on. No mention of cheering on the actual competitors and wishing them luck/success. God, she's awful.

Yes, she's let slip a little 'tell' there, possibly. Revealing that for her, the priority of attending the Games was to do with her relationship with Harry, rather than her desire to host and focus on the competitors and their families.

Sorry it was another poster.
But you want them to stop working with charities, give up Invictus, stop doing any work that means they appear in public? Is that right?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 13/02/2025 14:48

The Edward VIII connection has often occurred to me, @BasiliskStare - some of the similarities are uncanny

Surely she was saying she was there to support Harry as her husband? A perfectly normal thing to do.

Why would they have to give up good works? They don’t have to make “appearances” to support charities etc. They certainly don’t need to tour Colombia. See the oft quoted about George Michael

What kind of charity work do you want them to do? George Michael donated money anonymously. So you mean they should just anonymously donate money and not be in public?

Whether it was Netflix who insisted on her pulling out, or the rest of the Invictus Board (both are rumoured; I think the Netflix rumour is more credible) she did the right thing so fair play to her.

I really don't see NF micromanaging Meghan's life in the service of a 'lifestyle show' which is pretty insignificant to them. I don't think they care enough about it or her. I don't think the IG management are going to tell the founding patron's wife what to do either. They've seemed happy to indulge her for the past three games.

I think it's more likely, as I said above, that she got what she wanted from the IG and couldn't be bothered hanging around in the cold any longer. She may take the eco friendly private jet back for the relatively glamorous closing ceremony, but she's likely had enough of making small talk with strangers who are puzzled as to why she's there at all.

I really don't see NF micromanaging Meghan's life in the service of a 'lifestyle show' which is pretty insignificant to them.

I don't agree. NF shelled out a huge amount of money on what is ultimately a contract more akin to the 'Studio System' of Golden Age Hollywood - no firm projects confirmed apart from the first docu, but on the basis that H&M would essentially be 'owned' by Netflix for streaming content creation. Afaik they signed it without having to pitch any content proposals, it was a remarkable leap of faith by NF. Somehow during the negotiations they must have been convinced by H&M's reps that H&M were a fecund fount of content ideas, all of which would be smash hits, bringing NF $$$$$ in new subs.

Beyond the prurient pleasures of the tell-all docu, that hasn't happened and the subsequent programmes sank without a trace. With Love Meghan is the last throw of the dice and it HAS to be a success otherwise NF will cut them loose. And NF's judgement will be called into question on their next earnings call. So I can absolutely believe that the contract has provisions relating to promotion obligations on H&M's part, which NF worried that the brutal press around her Games appearance would undermine. Actually for a 'studio system' type contract like that I'd be surprised if there weren't.

TLDR I don't know for sure but I personally find the rumours that NF suggested she leave early to be credible, at least.

It is not a way to gain popularity, if that is even the goal.
What you mean is you want them to hide away in their mansion, so people forget they exist. So no attending sporting matches, no visiting charities or organising events, no shopping in public, no attending film premieres, no giving speeches or attending summits or conventions. Just hide away.

At least with the NGN pay out they could now afford to do this. But most people do not want to hide away. The reason George Michael did for so many years is he was taking loads of drugs and alcohol and was off his face.

George Michael's anonymous donations of money were unrelated to his well known issues and time away from the public eye. He didn't seek praise or thanks for his acts of generosity to individuals, although did give public support to some things, eg concerts for nurses.

To throw it back at you @JoyousGreyOrca , what do you think Meghan and Harry have done since leaving Britain that was successful or praiseworthy?

I don’t actually know that. I thought its origins were less clear cut. But I am still confused as to why your best beloved didn’t wish the actual competitors good luck. Not very nice, is she?
