Kensington Palace have released a photo of the Princess of Wales photographed by her youngest son, Prince Louis. It is to mark World Cancer Day, which is tomorrow.

How cute!

Your posts @Mightymoog , are descending into down right nasty comments about a recent cancer patient!
I assume you and others feel enough time has passed that you can safely stick the boot in without outrage!
@JoyousGreyOrca , your post trying to link Jesus to a picture taken of a woman balancing on a log is particularly sad as well .

crumblingschools · 03/02/2025 18:46

@MrsFinkelstein I think this is the case, people are more fed up with the moaners (who are usually very rude) than they are with the RF.

vandel · 03/02/2025 18:46

I think it's very healthy to look at most things with a jaundiced eye. So much has come out about various (non royal and royal) things that if you didn't have a cynical thought in your head about the RF, then their propaganda has worked brilliantly on you.

jeffgoldblum · 03/02/2025 18:49

Slagging off a fairly inoffensive photo to such a degree, while wilfully defending and ignoring other royals behaviour is not a good look.

who said I'm ignoring the other royals' behaviour.
Anyone willingly taking part in the con is pretty vile in my view

JoyousGreyOrca · 03/02/2025 18:51

@jeffgoldblum she is not balancing on a log. It is a deliberate pose to have her arms outstretched. It is a terrible pose. She needs better advisers, or to listen to her advisers.

Nah, it's the unrelenting moaning and nit picking.

Don’t be ridiculous. She doesn’t need advisers to tell her how to pose for a picture being taken by her youngest child. Really, what are you on?

If this was a private photo, who cares?
It is not. It is part of her pr. And it is terrible shockingly bad attempt at pr.

It’s a photo on IG. Not their fault if the DM have picked it up and inflamed some nutters with it.

because we are sick to the back teeth of the bunch of scrounging, self serving hypocrites being help up by the press as if they are some sort of superior beings and that we went to see photos of them where ever we glance.
if you don't like people slagging them off then I'm afraid it's only going to get worse for you as more and more stuff is coming out about their vile practises and more people are coming to their senses and wondering why the fuck we are giving billionaires hundreds of millions of taxpayers' pounds.

I think that’s going to be a long time coming if all you can do is slag off an inoffensive photo marking World Cancer Day—a photo of a cancer survivor, taken by the subject’s child. Robespierre, you are not!

If you’re that bothered, start your own thread discussing the Duchy of Lancaster and Cornwall’s profits, or Prince Andrew and all his scandals. That’s what’s going to change minds, not a photo of a mum outside enjoying nature.

rainythursdayontheavenue · 03/02/2025 18:55

She looks like a happy mum having a good time outdoors with her kids and posing for a photo.

WTF is wrong with everyone - she's had a horrific year, with major surgery for a chronic condition, cancer treatment and media stalking. She has every right to stand there and be proud she's alive and well.

crumblingschools · 03/02/2025 18:56

@JoyousGreyOrca and you know that how? Were you there with them when the photo was taken?

Their pictures end up everywhere because (especially Kate) it drives a lot of traffic to websites and sells newspapers.

The monarchy is still the most popular choice for the UK's head of state with latest poll showing 55 percent of people think the monarchy is a good thing for the UK with only 16 percent thinking it's a bad thing. The others were neutral.

Catherine and William are the most popular royals - republicans know there will be a surge of popularity for the Wales when William becomes King and the Wales kids are older and more interesting.

The reflex seems to be to try to malign the Wales family to make them seem less appealing but that's a very weak strategy.

Especially in hard times people are moved by positivity not negativity. Republic needs to push the positive image of an elected head of state. Encourage people to come towards a new vision.

jeffgoldblum · 03/02/2025 18:57

Such a spirited defence of Harry @JoyousGreyOrca and now this!

crumblingschools · 03/02/2025 18:58

If some of the posters on here are an example of what a Republic will be like, give me the RF any day

Mightymoog · 03/02/2025 16:58

All getting a bit beckham, isn't it.
maybe he'll bring out a cookery show next

Edited

I suspect that would be a blast.

MrsLeonFarrell · 03/02/2025 18:59

If nothing else, the Wales family seem to have learned in the last year that everything they do will be pulled to pieces by someone. They cannot win with social media comments and seemed to have stopped trying.

I'm getting the impression that they have decided to do what feels right to them and on World Cancer Day that is releasing a supportive encouraging message and a photo taken by a child.

It's interesting to everything that is being projected onto a fairly boring snap. I think it says more about the commentators than the royals.

Ah, I see where you’re confused. They aren’t celebrities. You must be thinking of another family.

JoyousGreyOrca · 03/02/2025 19:02

@jeffgoldblum I know you think being happy someone is challenging NGN means I am defending Harry. That is because you have divided the world into Royal Family supporters, and Harry and Meghan supporters. I do not have this black and white view of the world.

And yes I think Catherine posing like Christ the Redeemer is a PR blunder.

They are all celebrities and influencers. None of them are famous for their achievements.
