Kensington Palace have released a photo of the Princess of Wales photographed by her youngest son, Prince Louis. It is to mark World Cancer Day, which is tomorrow.

How cute!

What is there to 'slag it off '?

I was diagnosed shortly after Kate first spoke about having cancer.

It's good that a high public person normalises it.

She's just another mother going through what many of us are going through or been through.

Her privilege doesn't mean she's been immune to the fear and anxiety that a diagnosis brings.

It would be strange if she had said nothing.

And I for one like the quote she gives.
We're not defined by our diagnosis but sometime we need reminding that there is a life beyond it

vandel · 03/02/2025 17:13

My first thought was "I want proof that PL actually took this pic!"

Otherwise I couldn't care less, apart from the focus on cancer day, which has now become the focus on mini Lord Lichfield of Anmer.

That's all lovely but WTF has it got to do with her 6 year old kid?

Amazing. I can't wait for him to be king and rule over me.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

why do they think it's significant or interesting apart from the fact they have egos the size of planets.

Coz they see how crazy things got when Catherine isn’t doing things like this (ie where is Kate?)

Also, they see know how interesting people find them as they are constantly in the media and social media (as evident by there being a whole subthread devoted to them). Why not do it on her own terms and have a photo she wants?

Probably too close to the bone for me to comment.

But WTAF!

You don't like it, fair enough.

But if it resonates with some people I think that trumps the nay sayers.

If it can give comfort to one person going through this horror, or another seeing a loved one suffering, I fail to see that as anything but positive.

Mightymoog · 03/02/2025 17:21

"It's good that a high public person normalises it"

Did she say what sort of cancer it was? or the stage? or what treatment she had?
I must have missed it as I didn't she had which is of course her perogative but it's hardly normalising it, is it..

Mightymoog · 03/02/2025 17:22

well, your die hard forelock tuggers may find them interestiung, the rest of us find it intensely irritating to see her grinning face on everything.

why would seeing a picture of someone you don't know give you comfort?
Honestly, I find it baffling and my second hand embarassment rockets when i read the sycophants' thoughts

Taken into context with the quote it doesn't come across as 'triumphant' to me - it feels like a sweet mother/son moment on a walk.

Who hasn't had their kids take slightly rubbish photos of them (if you zoom in you can see he's managed to focus in on the log which is why she looks blurry!)

The message is 'nurture beyond the disease' - Kate's go to self-care she's said is getting outdoors with her kids.

And does your average family snap make it into mainstream media?
Sick of the sight of them

NotaRealHousewife · 03/02/2025 17:26

It's a lot better than I could do

Tomatotater · 03/02/2025 17:27

WattleTyler · 03/02/2025 17:03

Couldn’t have put it better myself. The self-promotion video was bad enough. Does Kate think people will lap this up too?

Their target audience will lap it up, and they know it.

Well, she makes money for the newspapers so they are always going to use her image a lot.

But you don't have to look at her Instagram or click on these threads if you don't want to.

Yet you’re posting on the thread. Be honest, you’re obsessed with them 😉

No. She didn’t. She hasn’t used her platform to any good in this regard. Unless of course people think soft focus promotional videos showing her looking in perfect health is ‘normalising’ it. Most cancer patients don’t look like this.

We have a friend who’s a colorectal surgeon and he’s commented that if she’d only issued a statement saying ‘if something’s not right, get it checked…’ it would’ve had a huge impact on the number of people doing just that. She didn’t need to disclose any personal stuff.

All getting a bit beckham, isn't it.
maybe he'll bring out a cookery show next

Edited

He might even do one with his auntie Meghan.

His brother and sister will have to die for that to happen 🤔

crumblingschools · 03/02/2025 17:29

@Mightymoog when Kate stepped out of the limelight and didn't post on socila media after having her operation and then then subsequent diagnosis, there was an outcry of 'where is Kate' ,"she must be dead' 'William has left her' etc etc. I'm sure you weren't bothered by her absence but there was more media speculation when she wasn't posting anything than when she does!

exactly. The one chance she has had in her life to actually do something useful and she didn't.

Nah, admit it. You’re fascinated and obsessed by the royals. Why else would you be hanging about here getting ‘frustrated’ by a bunch of gullible forelock tuggers 😉
