Is there another couple in the world like The Sussexes?

I was musing last night about this aspect - they had the world at their feet. Despite what Sussex Supporters like to suggest most people in the UK nodded their heads " yes it was lovely Harry was getting married finally" . I had never heard of the bride myself as I don't watch American tv shows of that ilk. She was black or biracial? It didn't even enter my head what colour she was initially and then as coverage started it didn't make one iota of difference one way or the other. I recall the day of the wedding - it was sunny and the pubs were full of royal cheer broadcasting the wedding.

And then it all started to where we are today.

Are there any other couples in the world who have gone through such a downfall? Is this a feature of the social media arena today?
We see P Diddy and Blake Lively and others exposed now through SM.
You can't count the Duke and Duchess of Windsor in this category as they were always unpopular.

Can you think of any examples of people who have fallen so spectacularly?

I know people say " they live in California, they have money blah blah" but their reputation is one that most people would not want.

Is it purely because of their seeming complaining and sense of entitlement ? I mean you don't see the real philanthropists in this way - in fact you rarely hear about them and what they do.

As a sub-editor, I can attest most journalists have poor SPAG, so this isn’t a gotcha. If you also read the updates I think it was dictated or autocarroted.

Only here so you get the grammar and spelling police. Who cares about a couple of typos or misplaced commas. Im like you typing during a commute or something else really quickly, often don't bother proof reading and sometimes my autocorrect doesn't work as it should. It's not the end of the world though but on here it is 🤣🤣 I wonder if these people who are so judgemental about people making a few typos judge tell their friends, and family off to if they happen to do it.

I really was just asking, I have no investment in this argument one way or another. I find it quite cute how passionate everyone is about it but I am genuinely clueless to the ins and outs.

I know little about them, and other than Andrew and Diana (for very different reasons) I know even less about the rest and after this hilarious but unhinged thread I will mind my business in future since I don’t care about people I don’t know this much.

I don't see much passion? Spectre sometimes gets a bit riled and people were rightly annoyed and defending Meghan over the fake pregnancy bollocks but usually it's pretty uneventful.

And I think it's worth remembering the context that all the royals get nasty crap directed at them online, like the bomb hoax directed at a royal garden party (that was actually being hosted by Princess Anne) by this sweet woman.

Such nasty crap is intercepted / reported to, and investigated by the police and passed to the CPS for prosecution, as it was with in the case of M&H - and still would be.

I knew this was coming, but I missed it because i was busy. How many times does it need explaining that Queen consort just means a Queen who is the wife of a King as opposed to one who is the reigning monarch. The late queen said in her televised address that she wished for Camilla to be Queen consort so that no one would think she was naming Camilla as her heir. The wife of the King is always a queen consort, but is always kust referred to a Queen (name). I believe that Camilla was initially referred to as the queen consort to avoid confusion with the recently deceased Queen regnant.

Happy to-although I thought it was not considered "the done thing" to reference other threads.
I see no reason to doubt that the PofW has been receiving treatment for some form of cancer.. However, there has been a lack of clarity-she has had preventative treatment, she is cancer free, she is in remission...Obviously she has a perfect right to share whatever she wants to-or to share nothing at all. I was just wondering whether that freedom would have been granted to others. That's all.

Why?

Kate has made just three public statements about her cancer. People can judge for themselves whether they have been clear, or complicated.

In her video in March 2024, she said that she was undergoing “preventative chemotherapy” after tests taken after she had major abdominal surgery in January “revealed that cancer had been present”.

In her video in September 2024: “Doing what I can to stay cancer free is now my focus. Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long”

In her statement on instagram in January 2025 she said “It is a relief to now be in remission and and I remain focussed on recovery”
