Is there another couple in the world like The Sussexes?

I was musing last night about this aspect - they had the world at their feet. Despite what Sussex Supporters like to suggest most people in the UK nodded their heads " yes it was lovely Harry was getting married finally" . I had never heard of the bride myself as I don't watch American tv shows of that ilk. She was black or biracial? It didn't even enter my head what colour she was initially and then as coverage started it didn't make one iota of difference one way or the other. I recall the day of the wedding - it was sunny and the pubs were full of royal cheer broadcasting the wedding.

And then it all started to where we are today.

Are there any other couples in the world who have gone through such a downfall? Is this a feature of the social media arena today?
We see P Diddy and Blake Lively and others exposed now through SM.
You can't count the Duke and Duchess of Windsor in this category as they were always unpopular.

Can you think of any examples of people who have fallen so spectacularly?

I know people say " they live in California, they have money blah blah" but their reputation is one that most people would not want.

Is it purely because of their seeming complaining and sense of entitlement ? I mean you don't see the real philanthropists in this way - in fact you rarely hear about them and what they do.

I saw that IG post last night, it's a lovely gesture and it does feel much more authentic.

She's back to doing what she feels most comfortable with - being an influencer. She just needs to embrace that and leave the faux Royal crap well behind because the 2 can't cohabit.

It is obviously trying to rehab her image after the disaster tourist label - it mentions the visit to Altadena, and being shown destroyed homes, but look! She was doing good things there! Was it a bit obvious and try hard? Yes, but I think that's genuinely her. She is the type to name drop and act pretend nerdy and dorky while actually being a complete type A.

I agree with PP, she needs to start using her IG page a lot more, because otherwise things like this stand out and just look obviously for PR otherwise.

It's great she's done this and she's so much better at doing this sort of instagrammer influencer than the high brow global philanthropy she tried.

Do you think? She just seems more excited that a major celeb has responded and the kudos that the association gives the Sussexes rather than who gets a tshirt. Kind of like an excited 'look look we are important and popular after all phew!'.

She is so overly excited because a popular famous person has responded and that validates them. All the breathless commentary really is cringeworthy.

Someone on X has pointed out that when M and H visited Altadena, residents weren't yet able to return to their homes. That was one of the things they were blasted for. That means the story about meeting the girl and her mother there and then is untrue.

Only watched the vidoeo once in a noisy room. Did she say she had no idea who Billie Eilish was? If true, did she really need to admit it when she could have very easily and quickly found out who BE is? Seems a bit dismissive towards a hugely accomplished singer.

Puzzled over the lunch boxes too.

I knew someone who worked for years in a care home for the elderly. An actress who was very famous and well-loved in the UK, but not world famous, lived nearby. She used to regularly visit the home, bringing treats and presents for the residents, and spent hours chatting with people. She was a pretty left-leaning, politically-involved actress but never told the press she did things like this and expressly asked the staff and residents of the home that it be kept private. It wasn't about publicity or self-promotion.

That's how you do it.

I was getting a bit confused here as I thought that she and Harry visited Pasadena, not Altadena. I was correct. The original visit was to Pasadena. Meghan subsequently visited Altadena alone and donated some clothes I believe. What is interesting again is that Altadena is where Jennifer Garner was volunteering and her press coverage was more favourable 🤷‍♀️

It's a very curious version of herself - is this one the authentic her ? Bare faced, so excitable ? Are the other versions we have seen not her authentic self? Is this her heart song? It's very curated. I think I read there are about 125 cuts in this short video alone.

The cutting is completely bizarre - in really odd places where there is no need, is that an IG / TT style or something? Weird that she lies about both of them going to Altadena too.

I mean wtf is this video about, if not just an opportunity to show off, name drop, and make a horrific and tragic set of circumstances all about her, it's really awful. There's definitely a chip missing if she thinks this will make her look good. Using a natural disaster, when people have died or have lost everything, to try and rehab your image 🤮🤮🤮

I think Altadena is where the podcaster inadvertently mentioned the volunteers were asked to leave the center for a time, it turned out later it was due to H&M showing up.

She really is getting her pound of flesh out of 'helping out'.

Poor Billie Eilish, no grammy award and now finding herself being dragged into a self promo for Meghan Markle.

Financially it is the way to go, the only way to monetise any negative exposure and to continue the lifestyle and associated costs. I doubt it's what Harry envisaged but post the rally her supporters whilst annoying the detractors will generate interest and cash. The biggest problem with this is that they don't seem to have the thick skin needed and have a need to be loved and proving detractors wrong, whilst I think that ship has sailed.

It just means there are multiple (ie loads and loads) of edits. A normal person doing a video like this, where the aim was simply to share information, would do it in one take, turning the camera to show the merch. It would look a bit rough and ready, but so what, the production values are really not important and the realness and authenticity is part of the charm.

Meghan has randomly added edits (cuts) for no discernible reason, making it look much more curated and produced. She presents it like it's off the cuff, just quickly taking a minute to share this story, but it's definitely not that at all. It's been really carefully made, each of those many, many cuts has a decision making process attached to it and will have been reviewed and tweaked to get it just so. What I don't understand is why... it just looks so contrived and completely at odds with how she seems to want to come across, with the no make-up, hey I just wanna show you something style.

It was a very studied performance. The videos on insta and Tik Tok, are cut/spliced to give it an energy and sense of urgency. Which makes sense in the world of short videos. But young people often use quite a deadpan expression on these videos.

But shes 43 and doesn’t get this- so she beams, pulls a sad face, shocked face etc ……..and the result with the editing, is she looks manic. The facial expressions are too exaggerated. Honestly, her behaviour is almost concerning. There’s a point where she’s leaping up and down excitedly just as she goes over to show the merch. That’s not normal. She comes across as extremely immature in the video. Can you imagine Catherine or QE ever behaving in such a mad way in public.

Billie Ellish is a new client of WME. This wasn’t a difficult task to get merch. All Meghan had to do was ask her agent and merch would have been sent straight to the girl. But then she wouldn’t have got her joyful disaster tourist souvenir unboxing video.

This is, what, the third little easter egg relating to the kids after the dog reel and the Christmas card? I do feel they are about to play their Ace card. Maybe they need it for themselves as their stock has plummeted, maybe they need to get people to see/accept/embrace the children in case the RF take some drastic action re the line of succession. Something's a-comin'!

It will be interesting to see if there is another relatively big gap before another video drops, and if it again coincides with the Princess of Wales going out and about 🤷‍♀️
