I was musing last night about this aspect - they had the world at their feet. Despite what Sussex Supporters like to suggest most people in the UK nodded their heads " yes it was lovely Harry was getting married finally" . I had never heard of the bride myself as I don't watch American tv shows of that ilk. She was black or biracial? It didn't even enter my head what colour she was initially and then as coverage started it didn't make one iota of difference one way or the other. I recall the day of the wedding - it was sunny and the pubs were full of royal cheer broadcasting the wedding.

And then it all started to where we are today.

Are there any other couples in the world who have gone through such a downfall? Is this a feature of the social media arena today?
We see P Diddy and Blake Lively and others exposed now through SM.
You can't count the Duke and Duchess of Windsor in this category as they were always unpopular.

Can you think of any examples of people who have fallen so spectacularly?

I know people say " they live in California, they have money blah blah" but their reputation is one that most people would not want.

Is it purely because of their seeming complaining and sense of entitlement ? I mean you don't see the real philanthropists in this way - in fact you rarely hear about them and what they do.

This is why I steer clear now and don't engage. Sometimes the takedown is so obvious the Blake Lively one was to me. Once you see the pattern you notice it again. People lift the lid and say it but many refuse to believe it actually happens because it's easier to think otherwise.

And if you think I'm illiterate you should see the state of the Daily Mail newsroom, there's barely a brain cell between them. You might fit in with your choice of hilarious gif.

I think the phrase was " queen of English " @Mylovelygreendress , I'm assuming the poster just means that Camilla is an expert in the English language!

Is it because some of the rest of the world are a bit ill-informed so don't realise she's actually Queen of the United Kingdom, not just England?

It's all well and good getting sweary but facts are facts and one fact is that we often see people who have no real knowledge about the UK and the RF coming on here with posts which demonstrate that. This tends to make any thinking person connect this to supporters who are fed things by others about the Sussex situation. I'm not saying you ARE one of these people but it is important to use correct terminology when making a point if you wish to be taken seriously.

I believe @veraswaistcoat , was simply pointing out that if you are coming onto a thread with a made up conspiracy theory and claiming inside information due to a past job , then you will be more likely to get posters to believe if you get your basic facts correct.

@Spectre8 those two sentences are not logically connected in any way.

The first point is about someone using wrong BASIC terminology about the British Royal Family. To equate that to the Sussexes I would have to say something like " Dutchess Markle" or " Princess Rachel" which I haven't.

The version of Macbeth that most English people know is Shakespeares which is pure propaganda (James was a descendant of Duncan, not Macbeth). Macbeth was King of Scotland for 17 years, and he was successful and popular.

So you are disparaging Macbeth by comparing him to Harry.

I think it was the major changes in narrative and U turns that kept happening with their story.
The marriage was initially a huge success but I think that the culture shock for Megan when confronted with living with aristocratic Brits was too much, and they left for Canada to seek 'a quiet life'. I think that if this was the end of the story it would have been ok with everyone.

The move to California and the Harry book, Oprah interview and endless plans to become celebs was their downfall. Megan in the wake of 'Black lives Matter' movement accused the Queen's relative of being racist and was taken seriously for 5 minuets until everyone realised how fake, vapid and pretentious she was.

I am Scottish . Charles and Camilla are King and Queen of Scotland too . Pretty sure many people in Wales etc feel the same way.
There is a big wide world beyond the English border .

The reason that some of us ‘care’ about Harry and Meghan is that in the event of William and his children dying, they would be the direct successors to the current monarchs. Would they take the position? Given their expressed contempt for The United Kingdom and it’s people? What do you think….🤔
