I was musing last night about this aspect - they had the world at their feet. Despite what Sussex Supporters like to suggest most people in the UK nodded their heads " yes it was lovely Harry was getting married finally" . I had never heard of the bride myself as I don't watch American tv shows of that ilk. She was black or biracial? It didn't even enter my head what colour she was initially and then as coverage started it didn't make one iota of difference one way or the other. I recall the day of the wedding - it was sunny and the pubs were full of royal cheer broadcasting the wedding. And then it all started to where we are today. Are there any other couples in the world who have gone through such a downfall? Is this a feature of the social media arena today? We see P Diddy and Blake Lively and others exposed now through SM. You can't count the Duke and Duchess of Windsor in this category as they were always unpopular. Can you think of any examples of people who have fallen so spectacularly? I know people say " they live in California, they have money blah blah" but their reputation is one that most people would not want. Is it purely because of their seeming complaining and sense of entitlement ? I mean you don't see the real philanthropists in this way - in fact you rarely hear about them and what they do.

I wonder who these people are who are prepared to defend a bully and condone bullying.

Meghan has effectively been cancelled I think - and the only reason there hasn't been more of a fuss is that no one's that bothered because she's not particularly relevant, as was say Ellen. The Blake Lively story is everything at the moment, plus the fires and plane crashes and Diddy rumbles on. And crazy Trump with his trade wars and threatening Canada. No one is interested in Meghan's downfall.

And how would you tell anyway that she had been cancelled - the only project she seems to have on the go is the cooking show which isn't on the air yet. It was conveniently postponed "because of the fires" of course, unlike other NF shows, and right around the time of the VF article. I wonder if it will ever see the light of day - maybe NF lawyers are trying to get them out of showing it, or there's yet another edit going on to remove any contributors who no longer want to be in it.

It's unfortunate that what she's selling in that show is so at odds with how we know she actually behaves 😬

Media organisations have dug around for years trying to find something salacious in Meghan’s past in an effort to fully discredit her. Documentaries have promised to uncover her past. But have failed. So the only place these rumours can persist as beliefs’ and ‘truths’ is on social media.

There is no Epstein connection. There is no yacht girl connection. Nothing that anyone can point the wagging finger at and tut tut, and therefore feel validated in their own misogyny.

Meanwhile a king’s brother is mentioned 90 odd times the court documents in the Maxwell case. But it’s Meghan the rumour mongers are going after, trying to tie her to Epstein. Encouraged by the traditional media in the form of The Daily Beast article (in this instance) republished in other read media outlets with certain quotes omitted and other quotes emphasised because they have messages they want to push, and scandal mongering nearly always brings a pay day.

Is it just the general human nastiness in service to the patriarchy driving this, or is someone or something that wants to distract driving this?

So keep focusing on how terrible Prince Harry and Meghan are. The people involved in th Invictous games, the Grenfell fires victims, the UN women's rights workers, and the California fires victims would all enjoy disagreeing with your acidic, horrible, and false allegations about these two.

Comms teams give stories to journalists all the time, that's their job. Our comms team build relationships with the relevant industry journalists, in order to promote our products and company, and respond quickly to any negative stories. That doesn't mean they use those contacts to attack competitors - or that they would succeed if they tried!

Harry has not pointed out any example of a negative story about him (or Meghan) being used to distract attention from another member of the RF. Until someone can back his claims up with some evidence I will take them with plenty of salt...

Back to the title of the thread, from a personal perspective Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are kind of looming out of the fog of my own naivety as possibly being not who I thought they were.

They too seem like products of the LA bonkersness, intent on potentially trashing their own reputations by putting forward narratives that allegedly don't withstand scrutiny and pissing people off who have working memories and 'receipts'. One to watch.
