The royal family

Is there another couple in the world like The Sussexes?

veraswaistcoat · 23/01/2025 10:54

I was musing last night about this aspect - they had the world at their feet. Despite what Sussex Supporters like to suggest most people in the UK nodded their heads " yes it was lovely Harry was getting married finally" . I had never heard of the bride myself as I don't watch American tv shows of that ilk. She was black or biracial? It didn't even enter my head what colour she was initially and then as coverage started it didn't make one iota of difference one way or the other. I recall the day of the wedding - it was sunny and the pubs were full of royal cheer broadcasting the wedding.

And then it all started to where we are today.

Are there any other couples in the world who have gone through such a downfall? Is this a feature of the social media arena today?
We see P Diddy and Blake Lively and others exposed now through SM.
You can't count the Duke and Duchess of Windsor in this category as they were always unpopular.

Can you think of any examples of people who have fallen so spectacularly?

I know people say " they live in California, they have money blah blah" but their reputation is one that most people would not want.

Is it purely because of their seeming complaining and sense of entitlement ? I mean you don't see the real philanthropists in this way - in fact you rarely hear about them and what they do.

Only here so you get the grammar and spelling police. Who cares about a couple of typos or misplaced commas. Im like you typing during a commute or something else really quickly, often don't bother proof reading and sometimes my autocorrect doesn't work as it should. It's not the end of the world though but on here it is 🤣🤣 I wonder if these people who are so judgemental about people making a few typos judge tell their friends, and family off to if they happen to do it.

Edited

Making sense matters.

I see some hideous mistakes from journalists just reading publications so I am not surprised at the lack of SPAG.

I'm just a little surprised that these weren't picked up prior to publication!

And yes, I would correct family and friends if I saw it. No need to "tell anyone off"!

Oh hi Kate, lovely to see you posting again 😊

Can you please clarify what you meant on this post from a few nights ago?

Thanks xx

Big ups Mrs F!! Actually laughing here!!

An self proclaimed ex journalist would surely know that a Queen Consort is different to Queen Regnant, but they are still called Queens.

You're still wittering on about a job I had 17 years ago.

Verbal abuse and bitching to strangers online for the principle crime of not hating Meghan Markle?

I give up.

When you said "ex", you did not clarify whether it was 17 years ago or 17 minutes ago.

Crystal ball is out of service tonight....

Kate has made just three public statements about her cancer. People can judge for themselves whether they have been clear, or complicated.

In her video in March 2024, she said that she was undergoing “preventative chemotherapy” after tests taken after she had major abdominal surgery in January “revealed that cancer had been present”.

In her video in September 2024: “Doing what I can to stay cancer free is now my focus. Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long

In her statement on instagram in January 2025 she said “It is a relief to now be in remission and and I remain focussed on recovery

I see absolutely nothing "complicated" about them personally!!

Midtown is like a giant parking lot. Tour buses and tourists posing for selfies, while delivery people on evokes in the street and on the sidewalk, cyclists, MTA buses all crowd the space. Crossing the street as a pedestrian is a nightmare since you ate stuck in a huge mass of slow humanity. We also have cameras that ticket speeders and blocking the box (the intersection). If you look at the video of Adams when he hears about it, he's trying, in my opinion, not to laugh.

I had the good fortune to spend a week in your incredible city last September (I had been before too) and I can't see how anyone could possibly engage in a car chase!!

@SooooHungry Even Fergie and Andrew have never taken the piss out of the queen or trashed the royal family publicly in quite the same way.

I think that's a questionable assertion. I agree, perhaps that the worst Fergie did was the toe-sucking incident, but Andrew's conduct has shamed his family far more than Harry.

That is as may be, but he has always remained loyal to the RF.

I agree @CeceliaImrie and I'm no fan of Camilla the Tampon Queen nor Charles who fucked over Diana Spencer.

Do educate yourself on what was actually said when Charles's and Camilla's private conversation was being eavesdropped on!!

Do you also endorse Diana's many affairs, some of which were with married men?

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 25/01/2025 06:12

Charles and Diana was to all intents and purposes an arranged marriage. I had one as have a lot of my in-laws and my family. It’s for each family to protect their own.

When Diana wanted out before the wedding her sisters told her it was too late. At that point they should have had her back and got her out of a situation she was no longer happy with.

Up to & including The day of my wedding my dad double checked I was happy to go ahead. Dhs family did the same.

For what it’s worth I think H&M both love each other very much - I don’t think you upend your lives to such a degree if you don’t but that doesn’t necessarily mean you are good for each other. I don’t think they will ever split. I sincerely hope they don’t.

But I also think they did throw away a lot of goodwill which had they just did the same as the Edinburgh’s for eg it would have been fine eventually.

You claimed inside knowledge as an 'ex-journalist'

When?

What are you so obsessed with me?

In your post at 14.34.

Obsessed? This is a discussion forum. I am responding to your post.

Instead of worrying about two people you don't know and will never know, how 'bout a good discussion on disgusting old Andy?

I don't know him either tho? 🤷‍♀️

Why not start a thread about Andrew ? I am pretty sure it will go the same way as other Andrew threads I.e. everyone agrees he is an arrogant , despicable oaf .

NormaMajors1992coat · 25/01/2025 09:27

The idea that people shouldn't criticise H+M because Andrew is worse is so stupid. (Especially if used by people who are more than happy to criticise eg 'lazy' William or 'cold' Kate.)

Should Andrew really be the only permissible topic of discussion on the RF board? Even then someone would be bound to say we should be talking about Henry VIII instead 🙄

MaturingCheeseball · 25/01/2025 09:38

Perhaps every thread should be subtitled, “But what about Andrew?” then we could get it over with.

Regarding Vanity Fair, they pride themselves on fact checking. I can’t imagine they would mention the “divorce book” without some hard and fast evidence. There’s probably an email which would only be revealed if H&M decided to sue. Since this was such a damaging piece, it is strange that they haven’t…

Frothing, salty bitter sounds like a nice afternoon in a British seaside pub, wi' chips. That'll do me just grand.

elessar · 25/01/2025 10:14

@CeceliaImrie if you weren't claiming any sort of inside knowledge about the RF and the media as an "ex journalist" then why mention your previous profession at all?

And if that wasn't the source for your claims, then please provide some evidence - otherwise admit it was pure speculation and gossip.

You have given me a good chuckle though at your claims that @Baital is obsessed with you, for having the temerity to read, and comment on things you've written on this thread. If you don't like to be challenged on things you say, maybe head back over to Celebitchy where you'll find a warmer reception for your baseless accusations 😊

Surely preceded by a bit of serfing to work up an appetite? And afterwards, pet a nice seaside donkey and give its forelock the attention it deserves.

I think as well - I don't know of a less self aware, more narcissistic couple! There is something extremely* *frustrating about a pair of intellectually challenged narcissists with zero self awareness telling the public how self aware, kind, empathic and not narcissistic they are! and telling the public to do one thing while they do another.

I'm not sure Harry is narcissistic. I think he's very very weak. And a bit lacking in brain cells.

He follows her lead.

There are some posters whose comments require a huge pinch of salt

veraswaistcoat · 25/01/2025 11:57

I've just watched a video of Meghan on her first public engagement with the Queen getting out of a train. The Queen gets out first and is bowed to by two men then Meghan gets out. You can see her looking at one of the guys and he doesn't look at her. You can almost see it register on her face - hang on a minute, they are not looking at me.
