Meghan and Harry have released a statement in regards to the California wildfire via their Sussex.com website.

It reads:

”In the last few days, wildfires in Southern California have raged through neighborhoods and devastated families, homes, schools, medical care centers, and so much more – affecting tens of thousands from all walks of life.
A state of emergency has been issued.
If you feel compelled to help, here are some resources and ideas:
Support
Organizations such as José Andrés’ World Central Kitchen, which has been a longtime partner of The Archewell Foundation, are serving meals to both first responders and victims of the fire.
CAL FIRE and LA Fire Department Foundation and others are working closely to support firefighters who risk their lives, bravely showing up in these high-risk environments to help save homes, families, and communities in need.
Animal Wellness Foundation is continuing to house and care for animals evacuated by the fires while Compton Cowboys is providing emergency transportation services for horses.
Airbnb and 211LA have partnered to provide free, temporary housing for those who have been displaced.

Baby2baby is providing essential supplies including diapers, clothing, hygiene products, and emergency kits to families in need.
All Power Books and many others are staying open for emergency use, offering supplies and water for pickup while working tirelessly to distribute essentials to those affected.

Open your home
If a friend, loved one, or pet has to evacuate and you are able to offer them a safe haven in your home, please do. And be sure to check in with any disabled or elderly neighbors to see if they need help evacuating.
Give back
Some families and people have been left with nothing. Please consider donating clothing, children’s toys & clothing, and other essentials. The American Red Cross is on the ground helping those in need.”

Helping animals helps us all.

Non-profit organization leading in animal rescue, animal protection and awareness; and low-cost medical care. Adopt, volunteer and foster opportunities available!

The "real" royal family do photo ops too, of course
Ofcourse they do , and it’s managed completely differently , wether it’s in a personal or public capacity they all want to be seen and papped , it’s still not about that , it’s calling the mayor of Pasadena , informing them Duke and duchess from a foreign land want to come and help , and bring on their own Photographers, go on a private tour , be seen with Jenifer Newsom. All during an ongoing disaster , that what triggered people .

for once the backlash is not coming from the toxic British media or the racist British people , it’s closer to them, and instead of seeing what people are saying , they are bringing up POW and Jennifer garner.

Truthfully if I was Meghan I would think fuck it. No more volunteering or trying to help others.

And if she didnt help people would criricise her for not helping. There is criticism for how much time or money they give, for going, its either not enough or too much.

Last year there was almost 2 months where no media articles on them and someone started a thread asking where have they gone....yet this is what alot of people want then to do go be quiet and when they do .... well anything they do will never be right for some people on here. So they may aswell just do what they want to do 🤷

Why don’t people understand that Royals being photographed at events is for the public to see to see them at their job….that we pay for.

It’s incredibly important that the public has access to the working Royals events, that we see the Head of State and those that support him, around the country serving the public.

If we didn’t have this, we would not longer have a RF.So the way the public observes these public servants at work, is through the photographs and film published by the Royal rota.

People say Meghan would have been criticised if she did nothing . I don't think so. Are there articles about more famous LA residents NOT doing anything ? Is there a big list of names who haven't visited? Nope. None of this.

She has made a huge mistake with this. People see it as inappropriate for so many reasons. She has ended up being flagged as Mother Meghan of Montecito.

Exactly and to add in what was Harry doing there?

Fetching one (1) doughnut.

I wouldn’t be at all surprised. Along with the footage of them leaving with this woman it’s being highlighted in SM that they walk straight past people sitting down and a man in a wheelchair. No acknowledgement (or hugs) for these people, probably because they aren’t in the script (🙄).

In other 'complete mess of a shit show' news, did H&M break the law by going onto a resident's property without proper permission in a declared disaster area? Penal Code 409.5 (d) applies to all, @ CAL_FIRE has been reminding people, including the media, especially with regard to private property. Mayor Gordo cannot give permission for H&M to access private property as a proxy. Did the property owner(s) give their consent?

It's a bad look anyway, when they are presumably trying to be 'role models', just clambering about over other people's ashes.

You'll be laughing on the other side of your face when he is presented with the Donut Makers Of America award for service and humanitarian work in the area of doughnut distribution.

"Your point is missing the actual point though which is that the photo ops that the Royals take part in is to highlight other’s work. Not to draw attention to themselves"

If you believe that the photo ops are all completely altruistic then I have a beautiful bridge her I can sell you. Going cheap.....

So are you saying that the Princess of Wales is having her photo taken to draw attention to herself? Or do you mean to draw attention to the Royal Family? If the former I think you are sadly mistaken. If the latter well no, because the RF would exist whether or not there were photos of them. I’m sure quite often they would rather not pose for photos. But visiting charities etc and posing for photos to highlight those charities is part of what we expect them to do. I’m not sure what altruism has got to do with it. This is entirely different to the Sussexes rocking up for a random photo op. And as pp have said, the Princess is dressed smartly like everyone else. When she takes part in other activities, she dresses accordingly. Like most of us would

Wasn't she also elevating some Krispy Cremes with lavender petals in the trailer?

😂😂😂😂😂

Scrambledbeans · 15/01/2025 12:26

The problem that makes them so naff and unlikeable is everything is so grandiose.

someone upthread reminded me of the staged photo shoot for Remembrance Day. Madness. If Harry wanted to look credible, he could have taken on volunteering for a veterans organisation, then once established be invited to speak about the issues facing them.

The fires, again, the problem is the grand tour and press. They could have played just ‘one of the local people’ card and turned up and helped out and have had it leak out later, then give a statement. Everyone would still know they were helping out. The tour element was just bizarre.

Uvalde- meghan could have gone. Mad but maybe she felt compelled to. Helped behind the scenes, with funeral costs etc. But no, has to let the world know she was there when they would have found out anyway if she wanted them too.

It’s just so naff and amateur. No subtlety, no mystique, no credibility. Even their mad online crusade- probably the thing that they could draw the most credibility on considering how long they have been putting out hyperbolic statements about the media and online harm…except they choose to do it 2 weeks after Meg makes her grand return to Meta. MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!!!

Exactly . At sporting events she wears sports clothes not thousands of dollars worth of designer clothes and jewellery.
