Thinking long term about H and Me lives and their children's lives where is the funding going to come from and is there a serious risk of the funding drying up? I especially think of the children who I would expect would go to a private US school and ultimately will be US citizens perhaps pursuing US jobs. There is huge competition for celebrity status in the US and no nobility as such so how do they for in? Does the link to the RF quickly become an irrelevance ?

You derailed. It's the classic comment when the argument isn't going the Sussex Squad's way.

What "criminal behaviour"? I wasn't aware he had been convicted.

Criticism is NOT vitriol anyway!

You are right. The Queen paid out £12.5 million and Andrew lied on national TV, because he is totally innocent

Because Virginia Giuffre who was suing him said this. And Andrew did not deny it.

I doubt it very much. The settlement would have been undisclosed surely?

Both would have been bound by confidentiality!!!

But don't let the truth get in the way of a good story, willya?

Settlements are normally confidential .
if indeed one was paid .

Lots of things have been said about H&M that they haven't denied. Your logic makes those things true as well?

MerryMaker · 07/01/2025 21:46

The settlement was confidential for a year

On February 15, 2022, it was announced in a joint statement that both parties had reached an out-of-court settlement, which includes the Duke making a substantial donation to Giuffre's charity.[59][60] Giuffre's lawyer, David Boies said the settlement, "does not in any way insulate him from any criminal liability that would otherwise exist",[59] and that Giuffre did not sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA).[61] A number of reports suggested that there must be an NDA, though it could only be in place until after the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.[62] It later reported that both parties had signed an agreement to remain silent about the case and financial deal during the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, but the gagging clause reportedly expires in February 2023, meaning that Giuffre could potentially start talking about the alleged abuse.[63] The specific terms of the agreement are not known.[64]

So you don’t know who paid and how much ?

Says the Telegraph ! Not confirmed .

MerryMaker · 07/01/2025 21:56

On Feb. 15, lawyers for both parties revealed a settlement in principle had been reached—that would avoid the possibility of the case going to trial. The exact compensation was undisclosed, but it is estimated to be worth around £12 million ($16.3 million), with some of the money going to Giuffre directly and the rest to her victim support charity.
In a statement, Andrew said he “regrets his association with Epstein and commends the bravery of Ms. Giuffre and other survivors in standing up for themselves and others.” That was in contrast to his comments in a 2019 BBC interview, in which he said he didn’t regret his relationship with Epstein.
According to The Daily Telegraph, the Prince also agreed not to repeat his claim that he did not sexually assault Giuffre.

Mylovelygreendress · 07/01/2025 22:00

You can post as many newspaper articles as you want but the only fact is that Andrew and Virginia settled the claim .
No confirmation about amount or where any money came from .

MerryMaker · 07/01/2025 22:04

Okay, but you accept that Prince Andrew settled and part of that settlement was a payment to Virginia and to a charity, and that he would no longer say publicly that he was innocent?

Mylovelygreendress · 07/01/2025 22:07

You said
“Okay Andrew paid out £12.5 million that he magically got from somewhere”

There was a settlement but neither you nor I know how much and where the money came from.

That it .,

Are you honestly suggesting that no settlement was paid?

I've heard some batshit things in my time, that one takes the edge!

I doubt every single news source, web site, US news souces, Virginia Guiffre herself, her lawyers, are completely wrong in saying a settlement was reached. We may not know the exact figure but one was paid!

BustingBaoBun · 07/01/2025 22:18

There are even Law Court documents stating this if you want a link.

Solanumdulcamara · 07/01/2025 23:05

So are we now comparing Harry to Prince Andrew? Another younger brother? I presume that is the point of raising him on a thread about Harry.

It's like every other time he's brought up on a thread about Harry and Meghan - totally and utterly pointless, and only because the poster has nothing to offer to refute the posts they don't agree with!

Solanumdulcamara · 07/01/2025 23:35

Andrew and Harry both have a sense of entitlement, both for themselves and their children. They both flew helicopters, though Andrew actually played a real part in combat in the Falklands. They have both fallen out with the RF and are both a headache for Charles. Harry is about the age Andrew was when he developed his dodgy friendship with Epstein…
