Thinking long term about H and Me lives and their children's lives where is the funding going to come from and is there a serious risk of the funding drying up? I especially think of the children who I would expect would go to a private US school and ultimately will be US citizens perhaps pursuing US jobs. There is huge competition for celebrity status in the US and no nobility as such so how do they for in? Does the link to the RF quickly become an irrelevance ?

@IcedPurple they live in california, and Meghan is from LA. Meghan was a very famous actress before she married Harry. Harry is, of course, famous by virtue of his birth status

Very famous? Are you kidding? 😂

elessar · 11/01/2025 15:30

@lostinthememory pretty sure they've driven past two or three other fire devastated communities to get to Pasadena. This isn't the closest one to their house.

Perhaps the only one where the mayor agreed to give them a tour, as they requested.

Meghan was very famous ?? News to me and millions of others who had to google her name when her relationship with Harry emerged.

She wasn't a very famous actress. Most people didn't have a clue who she was before she met Harry.

Are you saying she was there as the girl who played a paralegal in a cable TV drama the best part of a decade ago?

Patienceinshortsupply · 11/01/2025 15:56

Wow that must have been some cable show that she had a minor role in for her to be such a world famous actress Hmm

MissRoseDurward · 11/01/2025 16:11

Grace Kelly was a very famous actress who had starring roles in films with other big names stars, who married a prince.
Meghan was an actress who had a supporting role in a not very well known tv show who married a prince.

Yes he was friends with a convicted paedophile. Maybe you are too, but I am not.

OFFS! Juvenile response.

They haven't registered a company with Companies house in the UK with that name

How sad that you would actually go to the effort of checking it out....

I am not that bothered either way.

Charles either knew that Peter Ball was a paedophile - he remained good friends with him after he was cautioned for sexual assault on a boy. Or he is exceedingly stupid and believed lies Ball told him without asking his staff to check out the truth.
Given his previous history as a close friend of Jimmy Saville, you would think he would be more cautious.

"Prince Charles, heir to the throne of Great Britain, has revealed why he kept in touch with a bishop for more than two decades after the clergyman admitted to sexually abusing a young man. The Prince of Wales said he believed former Bishop Peter Ball‘s explanation that Ball had only been caught in an “indiscretion,” according to the prince’s statement to a child sex abuse inquiry.
Charles continued exchanging letters with Ball until 2015, when he was convicted of sexually abusing 18 young men. The Times of London obtained a draft of Charles’ testimony to the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA). The full statement is due to be published next week.

In 1993 Ball, who had substantial connections to the British establishment, had accepted a caution – a formal alternative to prosecution that is generally used in minor crimes – after admitting to an act of indecent assault against a young man. At that point Ball was forced to resign his position.
After 1993, the pair remained in contact through letters, though according to the BBC, Ball boasted about his connections to the Royal Family. According to the Times, Charles said Ball told him the 1993 caution was for an “indiscretion.”"

Well I guess some people feel that they want stay loyal to their friends, which is laudable even if it is unwise.

I never had the impression that Savile was a 'close friend'.

Don't be silly, of course they would know about the fire risk - there's a lot of public information about it, and there were fires in the area last March.

I've just been googling, and wildfires can move at speeds up to 15mph, depending on wind, terrain, and natural/manmade firebreaks. And they are c.60 miles from the fire. Taking out the hyperbolic language of being "holed up watching" then yes I agree it's very likely that they are paying close attention to the movement of the fires, where they would go if the have to evacuate, the state of local traffic, and what they most want to take with the if either an existing fire moves their way or a new one breaks out close by.

Probably a private jet on standby!!

I wish someone would ask them on camera who they have staying in their home and how many of their children’s toys they have given away .

But they are never put on the spot by any interviewer, all sycophantic forelock tuggers the lot of them.

Meghan was never "a very famous actress" - don't be daft! Nobody would ever have heard of her if she hadn't married Harry!!

Their children will slide into obscurity at best, at worst they will have rather tragic lives as many children of famous people do. There will be no dynasty, those two people have done nothing interesting or noteworthy to demand that kind of legacy.

I never had the impression that Savile was a 'close friend'.

Loyalty didn't turn out so well for Andrew yet Charles receives far less scrutiny and criticism for his multiple dubious friendships and yes,he was close to Savile, repeatedly asking for his advice, attending a private dinner at his house, sending a lavish gift for his 80th and leading tributes on his death:
