Thinking long term about H and Me lives and their children's lives where is the funding going to come from and is there a serious risk of the funding drying up? I especially think of the children who I would expect would go to a private US school and ultimately will be US citizens perhaps pursuing US jobs. There is huge competition for celebrity status in the US and no nobility as such so how do they for in? Does the link to the RF quickly become an irrelevance ?

@wordler they did not have to release a video of William and Kate interacting with the kids in private

It’s not overly intrusive though - and privately filmed in their own time means it’s not a stressful moment for the kids.

It worked as part of a strategy to give the press enough to keep them happy while done completely on their own terms.

@IcedPurple I think it is fundamentally wrong for children to be used in that way.
Why did they appear in a public video of private family moments? Would you think it wrong if Harry and Meghan did the same? I am sure you would. I do as well. But I see it as wrong whoever uses their children in this way.

"Used" in what way? Like I said, we see them a few times a year and in contexts appropriate to children their age. I think it unlikely children would be scarred for life by watching the Wimbledon Final or waving from the balcony on Trooping. In fact, millions of children would love the opportunity to have front row seats at major sports events. Do you think Kate and William should deny their children these amazing opportunities because cameras are present?

I ask again because you didn't answer my question the first time, but do you think a future king should never be seen in public until he's an adult? How is that going to help prepare him for his role?

Kate's video wasn't to may taste. I found it a tad schmaltzy and self indulgent. I don't see anything necessarily wrong with the inclusion of the children however. Her video emphasised the importance of family so it would have been strange if they were excluded. How exactly do you think the children could be harmed by appearing in a few scenes of a very carefully edited video with their parents?

As others have said, these aren't ordinary kids. They, especially George, are going to be objects of attention no matter what. Surely introducing them to the media in a controlled manner is the best strategy to prepare them for the future?

The video with the children was not necessary.
Neither is the many articles and long discussion about where the children will go to school.

TeaMistress · 07/01/2025 19:36

I don't like Harry or his wife. I think they are both shameless grifters who will exploit any and all connections to royalty purely for money. Despite that, their small innocent children didn't ask to be dragged into the nastiness of their rather unpleasant money grabbing parents.

I hope they are being brought up as normally and as happily as possible. Their parents insistence on referring to them with royal titles is utterly ridiculous and it should have been something the children were able to decide on when they are old enough to understand what those titles mean.

As it stands the children don't have any connection to this country and it's people or any aspect of their very unique heritage so forcing the issue of their titles now, just make their parents look desperate. They know that the removal of those titles and removal from the line of succession is a distinct possibility.

Well you can’t blame the Wales for the articles and discussions other people have about them!

MerryMaker · 07/01/2025 19:43

@wordler I can blame them for their response where they use their children

Ohpleeeease · 07/01/2025 19:47

What are your views on dressing up a Californian girl in a royal style floral dress and long white socks for a Christmas card photo?

Their response to other people discussing what school the kids are going to? What response are you talking about?

MerryMaker · 07/01/2025 19:56

@Ohpleeeease A floral dress is not a Royal style dress

Ohpleeeease · 07/01/2025 20:01

and the socks?

Some of the nasty comments on here about 2 young children is unbelievable. It is as if you are revelling in the fact that they won't be part of this tax payer funded family. The money you keep going on about that wills won't be giving harry where has that come from? As usual the plebs are taken in by the RF it would be laughable if it wasn't so tragic.

It's idle speculation, nothing to get your knickers in a twist over.

Not to my taste, but nowt wrong with it

Unlike someone like Andrew who knows what cutlery and forms of address to use, but does not seem to have been taught that lying to the public on TV and allegedly raping a sex trafficked teenager, is not okay.

Oh for pity's sake, the thread is not about Andrew - he's not relevant!!!

Start your own thread about him if you're that bothered!

MerryMaker · 07/01/2025 20:13

What am I missing here? A girl in a floral dress and socks is obviously a dog whistle I do not recognise.

adriftinadenofvipers · 07/01/2025 20:16

MerryMaker · 05/01/2025 19:50

You are seriously holding Andrew up as someone who others can learn from!!

I commented as I found it strange to see the vitriol against Meghan for not knowing the Royal etiquette, but actual criminal behaviour ignored

No “dog whistle”. But interesting you’ve introduced that term. Watching with interest.

So why is a girl wearing a floral dress and socks an issue?

BustingBaoBun · 07/01/2025 15:09

Dear oh dear. One comment and you unleash all of that. As I said, the titles will be forgotten about as the children grow up.
I don't understand what you mean about William's children, or small children the size of a handbag, but don't worry about explaining.
I refuse to criticise a couple who keep their children private. I respect them for that.

"Unleash all" what????

MM won't let the titles be "forgotten", not a chance!

adriftinadenofvipers · 07/01/2025 20:34

MerryMaker · 07/01/2025 16:23

I do not agree with any parents using their children to earn money. I include in that Harry and Meghan and William and Catherine. They all use their children.

Now that's ridiculous!! I don't see ANY children being used!

adriftinadenofvipers · 07/01/2025 20:36

MerryMaker · 07/01/2025 17:23

Trotted out at events to ensure continued support for the monarchy and the money that comes with it.
The children should not be at any public events. And they should not be in videos like the video William and Kate made of private family time.

That's crap. They're raising them in the lifestyle, gradually. I think they are doing a great job too.

In your jaundiced opinion.

Catherine and William aren't writing " many articles and long discussion about where the children will go to school."

It's all speculation.

You derailed. It's the classic comment when the argument isn't going the Sussex Squad's way.

What "criminal behaviour"? I wasn't aware he had been convicted.

Criticism is NOT vitriol anyway!

Still nonsense no matter how many times you say it.
