That looks like the same ARO jam that she sent out in a batch of 50. Jam and ice cream sounds a bit grim.

Great spot, it’s the same hexagonal jar

Jam and ice cream is grim! I tried it as a kid because my mum would never buy strawberry sauce, horrible

I’ve seen some say maybe she got confused with the British kids staple, jelly and ice cream! And
used American jelly with ice cream

Ive been watching Emma’s Kitchen Longleat’s (the Marchioness of Bath) videos on the recommendation of this board and they are absolutely charming. If she can bring the charm, warmth and elegance of Emma then she might stand a chance of success. I suppose only time will tell.

Me too . I had never heard of them but they are delightful. She seems to be a lovely lady .

She’s serving shop bought ice cream with…..jam

Shop bought ice cream!
They'd tear her apart on Come Dine With Me for that.

drivinmecrazy · 04/01/2025 13:52

of "her and Harry buy a country pile and attempt to renovate it themselves, hilarity ensues". They should pitch that next.

Perfect! That would work for me.

I can already foresee the bickering and making up that's essential for these types of shows.

Him saying 'we need a boot room', cue her saying 'how fabulous , I need a room for my my boots'

I actually think that might endear her to the uk market.

Leaning into it is the only way to go

CoffeeCantata · 04/01/2025 13:55

So.from what I've read so far...

...a notoriously fake personality pretends to prepare fancy food in a fake kitchen for fake 'friends'. No particular culinary skills are displayed or taught, apparently.

Why would anyone watch this? I suppose her mega-fans are very easily satisfied.

To be fair, when the jam originally appeared on Instagram, I thought it didn't look very jam like. Maybe it's more of a puree/strawberry sauce?

This and the dog biscuits definitely points to a failed plan to sell this stuff alongside the show.

The problem is that this reminds me of the Toronto toast video. It's just all a bit basic really. I don't get it.

I have a good imagination, but I cannot for the life of me imagine that Meghan will be able to achieve this. She just doesn't come over in any way as genuine or warm. Emma Thynn comes over as real, multi-faceted, warm and a real character - just very likeable and watchable.

Didn’t chrissy and polo man put it on toast though? So more a jam consistency?

It could be a jar of something different though

Why does anyone watch anything? You don't have to be a 'mega fan' to have a look and see if it appeals. If I find it boring, I'll not bother. If there's a couple of ideas on there for food I like, I might watch more, or I might not.

My DH loves Traitors. It bores me rigid so I don't watch it. I like Springwatch, he doesn't, so refrains from looking at little dormice and baby birds!

No one has to watch it, it's not obligatory 😅 And I presume all those knocking it from a 30 second clip, won't be!

trivialMorning · 04/01/2025 14:27

That was my first thought.

Saw an American decided dried fruit in scones must mean cranberries once rather than raisin/sultanas/cherries- and they didn't rate the scones they made with that - it's odd how cultural eyeglasses can mislead. Victorian sponge screams basic to me though most cooking show we watch these days are on you tube - they tend to be more original and fun than most TV cooking shows.

TulipTiptoer · 04/01/2025 14:28

@CeceliaImrie
That is really hard for you, I get what you're saying, you have my sympathies.

CeceliaImrie · 04/01/2025 14:34

Thanks @TulipTiptoer I've asked for a deletion, not sure I could cope with anyone starting. Thank you though. Flowers

BigFatLiar · 04/01/2025 14:38

She's si.ply struggling to stay in the public eye in a positive way. Sadly I think many are now at the good grief what next phase. If she wanted the attention she should have stayed acting.

Dorisbonson · 04/01/2025 15:11

Amazed anyone gives her a show at all. She has form for lying and seems a lot like Jonny Depps crazy ex. Won't both watching this.

The name of this show is poor too.

MrsFinkelstein · 04/01/2025 13:36

Didn't work for Harry's Polo though. Or Heart of Invictus. Or Live to Lead. Or several of the Spotify episodes.

I hope it is a success and they can move on from the victim role they've consistently occupied since 2019.

Personally, I don't care if it's a success or not. The world doesn't need more overpriced charcuterie boards.

I think this show is more likely to replicate 'Archetypes' than the other programmes you mention. They were simply boring and didn't even offer any 'so bad it's good' cringe value, so they sunk without trace. So my guess is this show will initially get reasonably high ratings but then drop off once viewers realise there's no there there, just like 'Archetypes'.

itsstillmehere · 04/01/2025 15:14

"Performing quiet acts of grace" 🙄 she's full of shite.

Jewell25 · 04/01/2025 15:21

It looks inane. Honestly, what can we actually learn about cooking and lifestyle from MM? It’s a joke surely.

RupertCampbellBlacksEgo · 04/01/2025 15:25

I clicked on the Independent article and the advert started playing, she's doing vocal fry which is hard to listen to.

Doesn't seem like it'd be good for actual recipes, and I don't know who the people in the scenes are, and it doesn't seem funny (like Paris Hilton's cooking show), so of no interest to me.

On a hygiene level, the hair hanging around the food is unpleasant.

Tbf Meghan had her lifestyle blog the tig and a very popular insta before she met Harry. I remember her doing a cooking segment on US breakfast tv. Good on her I’ll be watching. I

As far as I remember, she dated a minor celeb chef.. before she was even divorced from her previous chap I believe. She then ripped off chef's guys recipes and copy and pasted them on her own blog. Apparently he was known for making a big thing out of roast chicken, she then tried to make roast chicken her 'thing' that she was known for.

3LemonsAndLime · 04/01/2025 15:48

I had four main thoughts on watching the trailer…

  1. Abigail Spencer is wearing the same dress (and necklaces) in the trailer that she did in her Instagram post with the jam/lemons on 22 April. Shot both the tv bit and then the jam bit the same day?

  2. Prince Harry’s court case against The Sun is due to start “in January”. Haven’t seen a specific date, just that, with him estimated to give evidence in late Feb. Slightly odd timing on the release that may coincide with that?

  3. This is clearly Meghan’s big thing. IMO, effectively, she’s been building to this all her life - The Tig, the previous bits on US television around good/ interviewing chefs, the Together cookbook, even writing on the bananas. If she’s smart, she will also have written a book (part of the 4 book deal with Random House?), for release at the same time, with all the recipes from the show, and lovely lifestyle photos and essays etc. Similar to Pippa’s Celebrate. I know it was much panned, but the sales were good. She should also have had the ARO website ready to launch and the dog biscuits, jam and whatever else ready to sell after those episodes are released. In a perfect world, with a release of her own serving bowls or something, but worst case an Amazon affilate link to the ones she uses in the show. Also to her clothes, Guy’s dog bed, the balloon company……. Tacky, but as it’s her one shot, her really big thing she’s been aiming at, you’d think she’d want to throw everything behind making it a success.

  4. Final thought…..if it fails, what’s left to reinvent as? Genuinely.

CatsWhiskerz · 04/01/2025 15:49

Netflix viewers are literally paying fees for MM to be paid to make an advertisement about herself - hopefully this will be the last bunch of garbage Netflix pays them for

As for the roast chicken thing, in MM true form, jumping on the back of someone else's hard work as usual 🙄 ... but I honestly feel this lifestyle garbage she's doing now was and has been done to death - there's nothing new, inspirational etc coming out of that programme!

MaggieMistletoe · 04/01/2025 15:50

The vocal fry in the ad is painful to listen to. Why do all these women want to sound like they are 89 year old chain-smokers?

I just feel a bit baffled at how she ended up here. It all seems a bit undignified and desperate, especially when you think of the opportunities and options she had at one point. Its almost like she's back to square one, just another ubiquitous influrencer-wannabe vocal frying into an endless void of every man and his dogs 'content' .

It makes me feel squirmy to watch because you just know she hasn't got the charisma or integrity to pull it off and the most attention it will garner is people sniggering. I fully she believe she is on the autistic spectrum and that's where the rictus grin, seal clapping and zero self-awareness dialogue come from. She was never going to be a success in the entertainment industry, not ever.

I wonder if they really do feel the pressure for more income or whether she is just addicted to the spotlight. I struggle to understand why she wants to do this.
