What I mean by "incredible freedom" is the fact that they are almost never papped; they can pretty much move about without being seen. In the UK, when they go on holiday, and so on. For the profile they have we never get even a crafty video. (I am NOT suggesting that it should change - just noting it).
In my opinion, that is a lot of freedom for people in their position.
They have another form of freedom too though, and that is favourable press coverage, when that coverage happens.
This is the same for the king and queen.
If you know my posting history you will be aware that I am vehemently against the way the tabloid press attacks women who marry or date one of Britains "boys," be it actors, musicians or princes.
Regardless of what I think of the women personally, the treatment Queen Camilla, PoW, her sister and mother, Meghan Markle, and Lady Diana got when they first came into the orbs of the family is shocking, disgraceful and extremely misogynistic. We paid a heavy price for getting rid of page three "girls."
I look down on the men of the royal family who let these women walk ahead of them to take the explosions. It seems cowardly and shameful to me.
With all that said, I believe that appalling behaviour of our newspapers, the constant humiliation of MM and the resulting pressure on PH is, to me, a lack of freedom.
