The faux naif 'I'm just genuinely trying to understand' from the self appointed thread police is incredibly boring now.

It's not thread police. It's just posters with a different view.

Some people are so touchy with differences of opinion.

A 'different view' on what exactly?

This poster has done nothing other than make insinuations about other posters. I don't see any 'views' or 'differences of opinion', because the poster has expressed none.

So you believe the royal family haven't told a single porky about the pair of them!

They meet regularly, almost daily to brief the press. Camilla's lunches with Piers Morgan and his ilk.

I despair! You continue hating, I'm sure it makes you feel happy so good for you. Very nice, cool in fact.

What stories have the RF fed to the press about H&M?

I'd be really interested to know. What stories were leaked about them?

It is really not normal to start thread after thread about someone you have never met and just dislikes even though you dont know them and they have not done anything to you personally.
It is such a bizarre juvenile thing to do. I wonder why many British people are like this. They bond and tag team over gossip and a dislike of someone they don't know and who has caused them no harm at all? I don't know anyone in real life who is like this. I just genuinely don't get it.

Sorry, my bad.

Questioning other posters' on their views is not a bad thing.

Questioning other posters' on their views is not a bad thing.

Doesn't it count as a personal attack though, which is against talk guidelines? Especially when a poster is accused of being “not normal” and “juvenile” 🤷‍♀️

Because of course SM - with all the 'tag teaming over gossip - is a purely British phenomenon 😂

I think MN is quite mild, compared to other (non British) sites. More gentle mockery than outright bile

TulipTiptoer · 04/01/2025 19:49

Questioning other posters' on their views is not a bad thing.

It's not really 'questioning' though is it?

It's not an attempt to initiate a rational discussion. It's all about insulting other posters and trying to drag the thread off topic. It's been done a million times before on these threads. That's why I say it's become extremely tedious now. If only posters changed their tactics half as often as they change their user names!

TulipTiptoer · 04/01/2025 19:54

So you want everyone to agree with you.
Got it!

Unfortunately, whether willfully or otherwise, you couldn't be further from 'getting it'.

Baital · 04/01/2025 19:56

Well, exactly.

It's not 'I disagree when you say X, because A and B'.

It's you have no life, are a hater, I am glad I am not you blah blah. No discussion, just attacking the poster

smilesy · 04/01/2025 19:57

TulipTiptoer · 04/01/2025 19:54

Got it!

That is not what is being said at all. If you read the post in question, there is no attempt to say “I disagree and I think x because y”. It’s just basically “you are an idiot because you have started this thread”. It would actually be quite refreshing to have someone disagree and put forward a reasonable argument as to why. Instead, it tends to be just flinging insults

eta x post

Baital · 04/01/2025 19:59

There have been posters who have said e.g. they are up for something lightweight for the season, and will try an episode and see if it's entertaining. Others who have given reasons for why they think it could work, depending on various factors.

All very valid contributions. Just as other people have said it is behind the times, inauthentic, they can't listen to the vocal fry. Also valid points.

TulipTiptoer · 04/01/2025 20:02

I'm not 'flinging insults'.

I'm just perplexed that a woman who does a 28 second clip of a forthcoming Netflix series gets so much hate... on and on and on.

It might be good! It might not (although anyone who doesn't like her would say this however good it is)

It's not giving a woman a chance. That's all

No, but the poster to whom @IcedPurple addressed her original comment was just flinging insults

Baital · 04/01/2025 20:03

Having an opinion is 'hate' unless I agree with you?

It seems to me you are the one only allowing opinions if they agree with you!

If you think something is a personal attack, report it to MNHQ and they will decide. Way more effective than derailing the thread by attempting (fruitlessly, always) to argue about it here

Yes, dismissing any criticism as 'hate' is typical. As is the whole 'I'm perplexed' thing.

Faux naivete, just as I was saying!

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 04/01/2025 20:07

Criticism is not hate.

Of course it might be good, and it might not. NF gave released a trailer that is meant to give a taste of the programme, that's the point of a trailer. Based on that various posters have expressed an opinion of whether they will like it, that's the point of a trailer.

The trailer may not do the full series justice, of course, but we all make decisions about what to watch based on trailers, because THAT'S WHAT TRAILERS ARE FOR!

Your prerogative. Some don't like it from the 28 second clip. That's fine!

I have no idea whether I will enjoy it. I will have a look. I might like it. I might find it irritating, who knows.

Yes I know that. I was just trying to point out that there was no discussion from those posts. Just insults

eta I am also aware that some posters are just spoilng for a fight but one can but live in hope that they might be persuaded to see reason 😆

Baital · 04/01/2025 20:12

Dislike, as in 'I dislike the vocal fry in her voice', or 'I dislike cookery programmes that don't show any cooking', for example?

Of course that makes sense. That's an opinion, which is the point of a discussion board.

Other people will have different likes and dislikes.
