@StrawberryWasp you are joking by making this comment.

"Please use the internet to spread joy and compasion instead of this hate".

Is that what you and the rest of the h & m bashers on this thread are doing?

Yes I am joking.

Born a prince always a prince.

That's simply not true.

The former Queen Margrethe of Denmark stripped 3 of her grandsons and 1 of her granddaughters of their princely titles a few years ago. They went from being Princes and Princess to mere Counts and Countess.

I don't think it's at all likely that the same would happen to Harry, but theoretically it could. Royal titles can be granted and revoked with the stroke of the monarch's leaky pen.

Is Britain not sovereign?

Do we have the same legal system as Denmark?

If King, Queen, Prince, Princess is not a bloodline then we can elect/place/put whomever into the role.

Think it through.

It would abolish the monarchy without abolishing the monarchy.

I suspect that our royals have sense enough to know that.

Otherwise, with the levels of antipathy against PH going around, I am sure they would have done it already.

I think it’ll have to stay a lifestyle show. She doesn't seem to have the skills/background to carry a cookery show.

She obviously missed the bit in her cookery course about hygiene. With dangling hair in the food. This has been commented on.

Atlasvue · 13/01/2025 13:45

Yes, you’re so right. There’s so many stories that need to be told…. That’s why today, of all days, Meghan n Harry have released a statement about META.

Least the DM hasn’t lost focus on the fires like those two have. That was yesterday’s battle…today the dragon slayer and his jam friend are battling the very platform that she joyfully launched herself on two weeks ago.

Perhaps ponder on that

No.

The point is the Daily Mail is the Donald Trump of newspapers, causing consternation and bullying whomever they set their sights on.

It is a nasty and dangerous institution.

Slotting PH and MM into their coverage is a click generator and a bone to many.

I don't need to "ponder" anything she said or didn't say about Meta or anything else for that matter.

All I see is two people having the courage to walk away from one of the most powerful and wealthy institutions in the UK.

I personally see that as courage.

I also see it as no longer nursing at the teet of state funded excess.

Well done them say I. 😁

Nigella had hair everywhere, as did the Hairy Bijers (though we did see them with it covered when showcasing small producers from their commercial kitchens. Also the Two Fat Ladies kept on their rings with stones, even when using their hands to mix.

All those were very successful shows and, I think, those successes show that you do not have to have commercial hygiene standards in a ‘you can do this at home’ show.

(Though I am glad that many shows now have the chef washing their hands after handling raw meat, even if all that is broadcast is perfunctory)

Obviously not, but as in all monarchies, royal titles and styles are in the gift of the Sovereign.

He/she can bestow or remove them at the stroke of a pen.

If King, Queen, Prince, Princess is not a bloodline then we can elect/place/put whomever into the role.
Think it through.

I don't need to 'think it through', thanks.

If you read my post, you'll have seen that I don't consider it at all likely that Harry's title will be removed. It's theoretically possible but extremely improbable.

However, I was responding to the poster who said 'once a Prince, always a Prince'. That is not actually true. Royal titles are a privilege granted by the Monarch, who can revoke them at any time and for any reason.

They actually wrote this in their statement condemning Meta :

Millions of people are using Meta’s platforms in the United States. Hundreds of millions more are using them globally. Many use the platform to spread joy, build community, and share empowering information.’

That you talking about yourself meghan? You spread joy so that’s why your not going to quit a company that is ‘ undoubtedly responding to political winds, they once again abandon public safety in favor of profit, chaos, and control

So Meta=Bad, but Meghan won’t quit Insta. Cool, got it 👍

They are not wrong though.

Look at the EU case against Meta and its impact, on young girls especially.

Zuckerburg has been in and out of Mar a Lago since Trump won.

The only one to benefit from this will be Trump.

Not only - but I wonder if the threatened tariffs against the Eu will include a demand to drop the case against Instagram?

They don’t have to use their titles !
Harry and Meghan have spent a lot of the past few years criticising the RF, protocol etc yet they still insist on using the titles bestowed by the RF .
Can you not see the hypocrisy?

But why should he not use his title?

He was born into it and it is his by birthright.

He is, in fact, a Prince.

If you criticize your family or have a falling out does that mean you cannot use your family name, or miss or missus or any of the number of expressions used to identify someone?

If a doctor retires can he no longer use "doctor"?

If a wife divorces her husband can she no longer use his name even if the kids have it?

I don't think that stands up as an argument.

It's not a 'birthright.'

His princely title is a privilege which can be revoked at the monarch's whim, as mentioned above.

His peerage title was only granted him on his wedding day.

If a doctor retires can he no longer use "doctor"?

I would say that a doctor, retired or not, who goes around insisting that people call him 'doctor' outside of a professional context, comes across as a pretentious prat.

If you criticize your family or have a falling out does that mean you cannot use your family name, or miss or missus or any of the number of expressions used to identify someone?

So why doesn't he go by plain Harry Mountbatten Windsor?

Justin Bateman is a very well respected A+ list filmmaker who has a huge following on X. Babylon Bee, another huge satirical account, went viral with a "Los Angeles saved after Meghan Markle arrives to stand around wearing baseball cap" headline. The mayor of Pasadena who accompanied them is also getting excoriated for wasting resources on H & M when his city is in ruins.

We Americans don't like her. We don't appreciate attention whores doing fake walkabouts in other peoples' smoldering ruins, although I personally got a kick out of the local newsreaders calling her "Princess Markle." That's how much the average American knows/cares about her.

Rumor is that she saw the reviews and pulled the show launch for edits. NF isn't happy because they don't want to spend any more money on a losing show.

Justine Bateman was a child star and is the sister to a very well respected A+ list filmmaker, her brother, Jason Bateman.

Justine Bateman is very pleased that Trump has been elected so that the oppression of "woke" can stop.

For Justine Bateman, a president elect, who calls the Governor of California Scum is a good thing.

We Americans don't like her - you will find it very difficult to persuade me that you speak for 350 million people. If you do, I ask you sincerely; what the hell are you doing on Mumsnet, slagging off MM?

Get out and do something worth while with all that representation.

adriftinadenofvipers · 13/01/2025 16:09

I'm thankful to my partners at Netflix for supporting me in delaying the launch, as we focus on the needs of those impacted by the wildfires in my home state of California.

I think that’s a good statement - short and to the point. It would have been a bit tricky to draft too, given Netflix and the Sussexes (in)famously went ahead with the Oprah interview when Prince Phillip was hospitalised and clearly nearing he end of his life.

Surely Netflix are her employers, not her "partners"??

This just shows what a bubble their LA life is.

Everyone they know is no doubt a democrat who is hand wringing about Meta's new free speech policy, and more guff about spreading joy and empowerment. Who's view of joy Meg? We don't want your fake saccharine version of joy thanks, we'll take free speech.

The anti free speech movement railing against the removal of censorship is the sound of confused elites who don't yet understand they've lost control.

The backlash against celebs and eltes is underway. Just in time for her elitist show.

People no longer trust them to decide to what is joyful or empowering for us, or what is true, didn't they notice the back lash in the recent election??

This is so tone deaf, but I imagine they think it reflects on well on them. It's actually sums up how oblivious they are.

They are lucky this is not making big news and is being ignored because of big stories, because they would be crucified for this if anyone was paying attention.

This just shows what a bubble their LA life is.

This just shows how wrong your basic facts are.

They do not live in Los Angeles.

They live two hours away.

Would you say that someone who lives in Cheltenham is from London?

The only "free speech" that Musk, Zuckerburg and the like want is freedom for them to say what they want - like the Hatians eating cats and dogs.

You would be an utter fool to think that this is a good thing.

Or maybe not - maybe you prefer being able to say, with the confidence of not being fact checked, that two people live in LA when they don't.

That man has been dying forever and why is it on them to protect a family that never protected them? Is the suffering of a black woman less than others? When the media was driving her to the brink, did anyone in that family tell them to stop and we all know they would have stopped if they were told. Cos the world saw the ban on information when Kate was ill. So don’t give me all that righteousness about a family who can’t protect their weakest links.
they were thrown to the wolves and if you’re honest you will know that. Even when she was the nicest to everyone at the time, they compared her child to a chimpanzee. Miss me with all that caring nonsense. A pregnant woman’s child being compared to an animal.

How was "that man... dying forever"???? He lived to be nearly 100. What has the colour of her skin got to do with anything? Totally irrelevant.

The media wasn't doing anything to her that it hadn't already done to other members of the family. They deal with it by ignoring it, a tactic that has worked very successfully for them against the onslaught of abuse from these two grifters. Actually William did speak out at one point.

ONE DICKHEAD compared her child to a chimpanzee!!! Fuck all to do with anyone else.

As for the "ban on information when Kate was ill" - were they able to stop all the numpties online making up all sorts of rumours and lies? No. And quite honestly I don't see that there was a lot of "suffering" either.
