ARO update

At the end of August, there was a partial rejection of the ARO trademark because of the name and descriptions. Also issues with the logo.
They had 3 months to rectify, which you would think would be ample time.

But just a few days before the deadline, an extension has been applied for. Which would be another 3 months

So it’s obviously not an easy fix, I’m sure there have been countless people working to get this done and they have months! Yet they’ve not been able to sort it.

Seemingly, you are only allowed one extension. This would take her to the end of February. So pretty much a year since she’s launched and it’s no further forward, if anything she’s in a worse position. What a disaster.

It seems such a long time since those jams and lemons were sent out! You can easily forget how much has gone on. This is the problem with this scattergun approach. Do any of these past interests get any real exposure? I was wondering about Nigeria. There was so much at the time in the press. Has there been any ongoing support or connection since that visit? Does anyone know?

Sunblessed · 28/11/2024 11:16

Yes, nothing much seems to happen after the initial press releases.

It feels like it’s just anything to get their names in the paper; then don’t follow through in anything. Like the 40x40 birthday initiative. We heard nothing about it after the announcement was made.

Shes been talking a lot about thanksgiving recently, which she doesn’t usually do. The dinner she had the other week and the statement she released on Archewell. It’s clearly linked to this idea of a home/lifestyle/cooking business she’s promoting. I think she may release something else to tie in on the day. It’s all about exposure

I’ve seen one theory online about the extension for the ARO trademark.

That the extension will take them to the end of February next year, that her cooking show will be released before then. Not with the ARO name. Then come the end of Feb, the ARO trademark petition will be quietly dropped and the new name will be what is associated with the cooking show.

Makes sense. If the ARO trademark problems were fixable, then it would have been done by now. They’ve had three months and have done nothing. But I don’t think they can get round it. So this way gives them more time, she can launch her show with great fanfare and hope we all forget about the ARO and will release her new name/website at the same time as the cooking show.

I don't understand how you wouldn't be hot on the heels of a pet project but maybe she is just going to do the turn up at events thing now. Harry does seem to be forging ahead with his events leaving her looking a bit of a spare part.

Sunblessed · 28/11/2024 11:44

The only reason I can think for this approach- turning up on the red carpet, events, is to get exposure- so she can use that as an asset when she ‘invests’ in others businesses.

We hear she an investor in 3 companies but haven’t heard anything at all from any source, that she made a financial investment.

For example, the night she had the thanksgiving dinner for Afghan ladies, she was also at the launch of the highbrow hippie hair loss treatment, which we also know she ‘invested in’. Both events were even on the same street! Abbot Kinney Boulevard. Highbrow hippie is at 1609and our place is at 1344. Obviously to make it easy on Meg. It’s a one min car ride between venues.

The sad thing is a charity clearly arranged their event around Meghans PR night in her new investment in HH. But it’s all exposure, she needs the charity stuff to go out, so she has clout to offer when she invests. It’s embarrassing shes used a charity like this and on the same night but no one seems to have picked up on it .

It was really clunky and people are already selling things online using it so a new name will only benefit her.

I cannot abide lies

Bookmarking this for when she gets the trademark lol

@Sunblessed I’ll tag you if that’s ok?

It's been the oddest launch of a new business venture I've ever heard of.

Absolutely nothing bar the initial IG launch and the jam sent to friends.

There's been nothing else posted on IG, no teasers or trailers. I was expecting maybe little clips of food or something - seems such a wasted opportunity.

The delay between the IG launch and the NF release is utterly bizarre. Why launch when nothing else can happen?

Makes me think there's been major issues behind the scenes which isn't reassuring for a new business.

I don’t disagree and I’m rooting for her success.

I know for a fact that she’s changed her mind about the business too many times to count.

The jam gifting and insta were extremely premature. I believe she can turn it around though.

Sunblessed · 28/11/2024 15:09

She’s had months to sort the issues out with the Trademark and Patent office. It’s not going to get fixed. It’s game over for the name ARO.

Im sure she will still launch the business, but it will be rebranded.

She’s just buying time with the extension and delaying the inevitable

Me neither which is one of the reason I dislike H and M. They have told so many lies .

When is the next Diana Awards ceremony? I wonder if she's waiting to launch her next initiative then. It could become an annual thing.

EdithWeston · 28/11/2024 18:04

I remember seeing a puff piece a little while ago (sourced to friends) saying that the next stage in the launch would be early next year and that Meghan is excited about it.

No word on the release of the Netflix show - IIRC filming was all done by the end of July. Then the puff piece. Then Puck News reported in late August that not all was going well (I think that's the right order of events)

I had seen comments that the trademark issues would be straightforward to fix - clearly not totally straightforward as extension required, but still possible. And just about fits with Netflix potential timings (if the puff piece is to be believed)

Thedom · 28/11/2024 18:27

I thought the trademark issue around the rejection, was a minor procedural issue and not uncommon, along with the cheque being made out for the incorrect amount.

You do have to wonder about the competency of those setting up the company, how the heck are they going to be able to implement a supply chain platform or a finance system. I imagine the operational side will be even more chaotic, getting their trademark should have been the simple part of the process, its jams and dog biscuits, it's not like it's healthcare or pharmaceutical,.

isitsnowingyett · 29/11/2024 09:49

So many people working for them but they can't manage this?

OneTealSloth · 30/11/2024 04:56

There was no rejection. It’s still live and pending. If/when Meghan submits a response to the non final action then we would know.

They asked for an extension with the Archewell trademark (when that was in the works years ago) and still got it.

Obsessed doesn’t even begin to cover this lol

Daschund · 30/11/2024 05:24

I remember the ads on Sky for weeks before the Pilot of Suits. It sounded like an easy watch with Mike in the role of the misfit genius who wandered into interviews at the law office with his phototographic memory. I watched a few series before giving up, but remember being shocked years later when I saw MM accusing the British public of racism because I had no idea she was mixed race. Her bio never mentioned it back then. I'd never heard her speak of being a woman of colour before.
Do you think she actually believed the British were racist towards her? Did she know how much support her and Harry had. They were probably the most popular Royals at the time of their wedding. Their fall from grace has been quite spectacular. Do you think (if I'm correct) she realises how much they've thrown away and how deeply unpopular they are now. Of course there will always be outliers, the ignorant racists and also those who blindly adore H&M but surely their best hope for the future is to quietly slip into obscurity. ARO is burnt, Polo demonstrates their hypocrisy and I was almost speechless listening to her talking about family for Thanksgiving. Everything they touch seems to turn to shit.

PoppysAunt · 30/11/2024 05:30

So is she selling jam or what?
I can't work out what's happening.
I thought people got jars - with a free lemon - ages ago?

Best to work through the changes of mind before you announce it publicly, surely? It just looks amateur (and a bit desperate) rather than 'a freakish attention to detail'.

@OneTealSloth .... really interested to know if you have a direct inside track to H&M - or are you getting these facts from elsewhere?

OneTealSloth · 30/11/2024 09:41

If ARO was selling products and flopping id understand.

but this utter desperation to pronounce something as a failure in its trademark stage is pathetic.

you can call Spotify a flop all day and I won’t argue, Netflix too, but the rest is just wishful thinking
