ARO update

At the end of August, there was a partial rejection of the ARO trademark because of the name and descriptions. Also issues with the logo.
They had 3 months to rectify, which you would think would be ample time.

But just a few days before the deadline, an extension has been applied for. Which would be another 3 months

So it’s obviously not an easy fix, I’m sure there have been countless people working to get this done and they have months! Yet they’ve not been able to sort it.

Seemingly, you are only allowed one extension. This would take her to the end of February. So pretty much a year since she’s launched and it’s no further forward, if anything she’s in a worse position. What a disaster.

@OneTealSloth .... really interested to know if you have a direct inside track to H&M - or are you getting these facts from elsewhere?

Yes. Meghan is annoyingly indecisive, the project has taken too many different shapes, it was in the making a year and some change before the IG page dropped.

She just needs to stick to something and get it right. I have faith in her.

Baital · 30/11/2024 09:45

Not wishful thinking. I am enjoying the suspense 😜

The signs aren't good. But of course M might turn it around. She doesn't have a track record of that, to be fair, so it isn't likely. But it may happen.

There are no signs. There really aren’t. Trademark back and forths are nothing in the grand scheme of things.

She ran the Tig successfully, she can do the same now.

Why do you have faith in her? I am.not asking in a 'have a dig' way. I realise we disagree on a lot so.it might come across in that way. But it is a genuine question.

From my perspective she hasn't a record of sticking with projects, and making them succeed by hanging on in through challenges. Some people do seem to make things work, they have business instincts and can dig in through the early days when everything is up in the air. I don't see evidence of that from M, so it looks to me like ARO is 'more of the same'.

But you see something else, and I am curious. What am I missing?

I know for a fact that she’s changed her mind about the business too many times to count.

It was this point I asked you about twice - are you now retracting it? That you dont know 'for a fact'?

We cross posted!

So you are basing your view on the Tig being a success?

On what basis? I think she's a bit out of her depth, although merching handbags and makeup is probably a way forward.

Well yes, that is the key to any successful business! But very few people manage to get it right otherwise* *we'd all have successful businesses!

Nope. The Tig was extremely successful, enough that she never had to act again. I know this for a fact. She’s done it before and she can do it again. She just needs to put her head down and get on with it.

I don’t have much hope for Lemonada or Netflix but she can do ARO.

PoppysAunt · 30/11/2024 09:55

She's relied on wealthy men with connections, her Dad and both her husbands as well as the chef who was her partner.
It would be nice if she did something on her own merit, but of course the royal titles and privilege still count for much. I can't think of a way forward now, so she'll be reliant on Harry's Invictus for the clicks and the headlines until she can generate more.
Perhaps memoirs?

yeah, she ran the tig blog while she was on suits. she even had a team running it with her.

cring writing but it was a solid source of income.

How much was she making from the Tig?

The whole influencer thing is a completely different generation from me so I find it hard to get my head round it. But I know some people do make good money from it, though others have lots of followers but can't translate it into money.

It was very successful. She had good people to run it with her, and seemed to understand the zeitgeist. It was fashion, food, makeup and lifestyle, and in all honesty I think that's more her thing. I think she should resurrect it

It was, and it prompted her well.

That’s exactly what ARO will be but on a larger scale, there’s a lot of money on the table already. She will sell her own stuff but also recommend brands she likes/invested in.

Enough that she could move on from acting. She knew that her acting prospects (not that it was a lot in the first place) were drying up so she pivoted to blogging.

Where are you getting your 'facts' - do you have inside info on MM financial situation from 7 years ago?

Serenster · 30/11/2024 10:03

but this utter desperation to pronounce something as a failure in its trademark stage is pathetic.

It patently is a failure though - Meghan launched a business without yet having the name trademarked, and also picked a name that it will be very difficult to trademark. Choosing to launch without having that locked down is utterly foolhardy, and makes her look like a complete amateur. It sends a strong message to the world, and her potential customers, that she hasn’t a clue what she’s doing.

Baital · 30/11/2024 10:03

You may be right. I am sceptical. Since her marriage she doesn't seem to be able to keep staff.

Time will tell! It gives us all something to entertain us 😀

Yes, that's how I understood it, and it's totally her wheelhouse. However, I don't understand why the launch wasn't followed up and why there are delays?
Some people aren't cut out for a public role, or any kind of diplomacy. That's not a criticism, we are all different. So I think a website with some merching + self promotion sounds ideal.

How much? You obviously have inside info 😀 after all 'enough' depends on your lifestyle. So we need to know whether 'enough' was living in the US equivalent of a grotty bedsit and living on lentils and second hand clothes, or red carpet and caviar in the penthouse suite.

How much did she make from the Tig? Total income, and then what she had left over after paying the team helping her?

PoppysAunt · 30/11/2024 10:09

I think the Tig was a decent living, however, not anywhere like the £millions she got from being married to Harry.
However, it'll probably be an effective sideline, but that multimillionaire royal lifestyle will have to be maintained by Harry's inheritances and investments and contributions from the Bank of Pa.

Do you actually run a business? I marvel at takes like this, I really do. People launch without trademarks locked down all the time. The likes of Rihanna, Blake and Serena all launched with pending trademarks. With all due respect, people like yourself may get a warped message, somehow I don’t think you’d be her target market

I'd be interested too.

At the time she met Harry - when The Tig was most successful - she owned no property or even a car. So what were her substantial assets? The Tig had no trademarked products associated with it, like lifestyle products - homeware, clothing, makeup, fragrance etc that would guarantee an ongoing income.

I have no idea how these things work, so I'd be interested to get more insight.
