ARO update

At the end of August, there was a partial rejection of the ARO trademark because of the name and descriptions. Also issues with the logo.
They had 3 months to rectify, which you would think would be ample time.

But just a few days before the deadline, an extension has been applied for. Which would be another 3 months

So it’s obviously not an easy fix, I’m sure there have been countless people working to get this done and they have months! Yet they’ve not been able to sort it.

Seemingly, you are only allowed one extension. This would take her to the end of February. So pretty much a year since she’s launched and it’s no further forward, if anything she’s in a worse position. What a disaster.

Pending but achievable?

That's a bit different from pending but possibly not achievable, which seems to be the key question.

Yes, that's how I understood it, and it's totally her wheelhouse. However, I don't understand why the launch wasn't followed up and why there are delays?
Some people aren't cut out for a public role, or any kind of diplomacy. That's not a criticism, we are all different. So I think a website with some merching + self promotion sounds ideal.

There was a set back, obviously magnified with all the eyes watching and papers waiting for something to go wrong.

I don’t think it’s the end of the world but whatever she does from now on has to be impeccable.

That’s what I’m saying. A non final action is something that can be corrected, the examiner even gave suggestions. It is achievable lol

I think the Tig was a decent living, however, not anywhere like the £millions she got from being married to Harry.
However, it'll probably be an effective sideline, but that multimillionaire royal lifestyle will have to be maintained by Harry's inheritances and investments and contributions from the Bank of Pa.

Charles has cut them off, no?

I think they are pretty flush though, buying that house in Portugal.

and all the money spent on lawsuits

isitsnowingyett · 30/11/2024 10:21

Ah "pivoting" is the new word used to describe moving on from one failure to something new.

I do wonder what the block is, because she's perfectly capable of this sort of thing. Even in her mid 40s she could still run a blog and a website, plenty do! She's got the added cachet of the Royal connection, and a ready made audience. Who knows. It's definitely her best option.

Yes, as I understand it, the financial records show that he was supporting them well into their American life, although that has ended now. However, those £millions he gave could have been invested well.
I think they're very rich by the standards of ordinary people, but theirs is an expensive lifestyle of course.

isitsnowingyett · 30/11/2024 10:23

I read $80k a year from the Tig. That's not going to keep her in the lifestyle she likes.

Not so. Definitely low to mid six figures.

No, you're right, it's plenty for most people, but not for them.
I think she could make more with the royal connection she has now, although that's obviously waning. She'll need to merchandise that somehow - probably a memoir, as I said.
It would get her the clicks and the headlines and she can do all the chat shows.

isitsnowingyett · 30/11/2024 10:26

@PoppysAunt I think Meghan probably believes that she herself is enough - turning up at events, dressed up to the nines, posing for photos, throwing herself over anyone and everyone. She has a warped perception of herself believing her mother's mantra that she is special.

I think she is capable too. Who knows what the block is, I’m watching till spring next year, then I’ll give up.

I suspect the block is her interpersonal skills - a reknowned bully to her staff - 12 very recently came forward to document their experience with The Hollywood Reporter.....many others have just walked out.

Can't run a business like that.

Sorry I don’t take those claims seriously 🤷🏽‍♀️

I wonder how that all happened, and how much Harry built her up as the next Diana, and how and why she went into a role with such a significant level of ignorance.
It's clear that she wants to be a celebrity, with the fame, the clothes and the lifestyle. Harry does as well. However, outside the RF they're going to have to position themselves differently, although it's really not going to generate anything like the money they got from being in the RF

Can I ask why you discount them? Of course it might be malicious, but surely it is also possible that there is an element of truth?

OneTealSloth · 30/11/2024 10:36

Meghan is not out and about enough for all the claims people make. I agree that she wants a certain lifestyle, who doesn’t? They are financially comfortable, so good for them.

He needs to stop wasting money on stupid lawsuits.

She does, that's not a criticism, because lots of people do. I agree that Harry needs to stop his lawsuits. He needs to draw a line under the past and try to forge a positive life in the US.
They're both in their 40s, very wealthy, great connections, loads of opportunities, so it should really be possible.

EdithWeston · 30/11/2024 10:40

wonderingconcerned · 30/11/2024 09:50

I know for a fact that she’s changed her mind about the business too many times to count.

It was this point I asked you about twice - are you now retracting it? That you dont know 'for a fact'?

Thanksgiving puff piece (from her PR)

Meghan is figuring out what's next and very focused on career opportunities. There has been some turnover and rethinking some of her projects. Things are always in flux and she wants to make sure everything is done the way she wants it. She's a perfectionist and particular

I think "always in flux" means an uncountable number of changes

But they are talking about personal staff, not being out and about. E.g. secretaries, nannies, advisers (remember she had a 'team' helping with the Tig). So not being out and about is irrelevant.

Once you put in a high turnover of staff, it is quite possible - if the claims are true - that a dozen people since they were married in 2017 (?) have come forward to the media

I’ve called Meghan annoyingly indecisive and I believe she’s very fussy to work with but she is not a bully IMO. Staff allegedly calling her a demon, bitch etc doesn’t make me sympathise with them either. Name calling and dehumanising is ugly, tells me more about them.

Baital · 30/11/2024 10:43

But what if it is true?

Sunblessed · 30/11/2024 10:43

She isn’t getting the trademark. End of.

She had 3 months to sort out the issues and she can’t. She’s just buying time.

She will return with a new name once her cooking show is out.

The name ARO is over.

The Hollywood Reporter, which did the investigative piece, did not use any such terms, not did they identify the sources.

I've not seen an organisation as reputable as the HR making allegations that staff used such terms. Nor is there any way to know if those who have (where?) been reported to have made such comments are the same people as The HR sources.
