ARO update

At the end of August, there was a partial rejection of the ARO trademark because of the name and descriptions. Also issues with the logo.
They had 3 months to rectify, which you would think would be ample time.

But just a few days before the deadline, an extension has been applied for. Which would be another 3 months

So it’s obviously not an easy fix, I’m sure there have been countless people working to get this done and they have months! Yet they’ve not been able to sort it.

Seemingly, you are only allowed one extension. This would take her to the end of February. So pretty much a year since she’s launched and it’s no further forward, if anything she’s in a worse position. What a disaster.

From what I have read 'American Riviera ' refers to a geographical area so can't be trademarked?

If so it seems ARO as a trademark isn't possible?

How much? You obviously have inside info 😀 after all 'enough' depends on your lifestyle. So we need to know whether 'enough' was living in the US equivalent of a grotty bedsit and living on lentils and second hand clothes, or red carpet and caviar in the penthouse suite.

How much did she make from the Tig? Total income, and then what she had left over after paying the team helping her?

You are losing the run of yourself here...

Why is that, @Sunblessed ?

Because she wants it to be so 😂

If Meghan wanted a new name, there’d be a separate trade mark application for it.

There is an American Riviera Bank (and all other sorts) trademarked so it is possible.

What she needs is a disclaimer and some other
corrections outlined by the examiner.

In what way?

OneTealSloth said she made enough from the Tig to live on after her acting career. They also agreed (I think? I am losing track!) that she had a team helping her.

So my query is - given they seem to have the inside track on the details - the gross and net income of the Tig. How much did it make, and how much was M's profit after she paid the team?

OneTealSloth · 30/11/2024 10:53

EdithWeston · 30/11/2024 10:46

The Hollywood Reporter, which did the investigative piece, did not use any such terms, not did they identify the sources.

I've not seen an organisation as reputable as the HR making allegations that staff used such terms. Nor is there any way to know if those who have (where?) been reported to have made such comments are the same people as The HR sources.

The DailyBeast had the demon quote I think.

I said low to mid figures, can’t give you any more info than that. You are welcome to believe it as much as the other $80,000 quoted 🤷🏽‍♀️

So what is your view on the Hollywood Reporter report that a dozen ex-employees say M is a bully?

wonderingconcerned · 30/11/2024 10:55

OneTealSloth · 30/11/2024 10:33

Sorry I don’t take those claims seriously 🤷🏽‍♀️

Wow.

12 separate individuals across different geographies and timescales report consistent and repeated workplace bullying by MM to a highly esteemed publication who would not expose themselves to this highly litigious pair without having watertight sources.....

Sunblessed · 30/11/2024 10:56

Its embarrassing the lengths some go to convince themselves that they are correct.

ARO will not be given a trademark. She cannot get around a geographical name of American Riviera by adding the term orchard, particularly when she doesn’t run an orchard. Hence, why if you look at her application, it’s been highlighted those who have been given a TM with the name orchard; produce and sell products from their orchard.

There may be an adaptation of the name or a whole new name but the name ARO will not move forward.

Shes buying time with the 3 month extension, that’s all

Hmmmm. You said it was enough to live on, but don't know how much it was making (once costs were paid out)?

OneTealSloth · 30/11/2024 10:57

For those wanting proof of other american riviera trademarks.

In a year, for her then, why not? She wasn’t moving about with any security (which is their greatest cost) and lived in a simple house.

she was also earning from suits, plus SAG residuals, she was just fine IMO

Mymanyellow · 30/11/2024 10:59

Because that’s an actual bank. Whereas MM hasn’t got an orchard.

I’ll bookmark this for when she receives the trademark.

You have a fundamental lack of understanding for how these things work.

isitsnowingyett · 30/11/2024 11:00

@OneTealSloth what do YOU mean by low to mid figures? We don't all have the same idea about what that is.

My bad. $200,000 - $500,000

Sunblessed · 30/11/2024 11:03

Of course Meghan is a bully.

But it doesn’t matter what we think, it matters what the industry knows. Cleary she has a bad rep for the HR to have extensive sources and feel comfortable enough to publish.

However, the most important aspect is the fact that Meghan hasn’t sued. Which confirms everything.

This is a highly influential industry publication. She runs a production company. This means it has the capacity to affect her business and her reputation. She could easily take them to court.

Now we know they are litigious. Both of them have taken publications to court. Yet the most damaging piece that has been printed about her, and she hasn’t done anything about it? Proves every word is true and she knows she would lose.

But you said enough to live on when she stopped acting, not as a sideline while Suits continued.

I would agree that anything she got from the Tig would have been a nice extra. I get extra from filling in on line surveys. That's a bit different from creating a significant income stream, especially when you are trying to maintain a hugely increased standard of living.

OneTealSloth · 30/11/2024 11:06

The same Hollywood that Bullies thrive in?

Their production company, however poorly it may be doing, is still active.

Polo is still coming out, the cooking show is up next etc

They can’t sue for everything 🤷🏽‍♀️

In fact I need them to sue less

Sunblessed · 30/11/2024 11:07

My god this is actually embarrassing

OK. Rather more than my sideline!

How much of that went to paying her team? (Assuming you genuinely have inside info, so know how much it was raising!)

I can’t tell you more than I have. Sincerely, we do not have to agree on this. She would have been just fine with the Tig and SAG residuals.

I don’t know the details of paying the team, just the conservative estimates from brand deals.
