Just looking at the photos of Harry in Lesotho . Don’t know when I last saw him looking so relaxed and happy .
Nice to see.

Regarding security, RAVEC are not going to alter their decision, no matter how many expensive appeals Harry manages to launch. I'd bet good money on that. Harry is 5th in line and chose to live on another continent as a private citizen. RAVEC are not going to put scarce resources on standby for him. He's just not that important, and I think that's what bothers him most of all.

I hope he’s held accountable for those appeals if they fail too and there’s a FoI request for transparency around the cost to the public. If he wins, I honestly think Parliament will need to step in as I suspect there’ll be public uproar.

PR stunts aren't going to win his security case for him. Quite the reverse, I would think. The judge is likely to be (even more) pissed off if he thinks H is trying to use PR to manipulate things.

I don't even think his behaviour is relevant. The judge himself said that he barely made the threshold for an appeal. The judicial review will very likely come to the same conclusion again. And even in the unlikely event of it being successful, all that happens is that Harry's case gets sent back to RAVEC for reassessment. After all that, they will almost certainly come to the same decision all over again. So a few years and much aggravation down the road, he will be back to exactly where he was.

The security arrangement Harry currently has is more than generous. He's going to cost taxpayers hundreds of thousands and waste scarce public resources for what is basically a hissy fit.

I'ts said he was told to pay 90% of the Home Office's costs following the last failed appeal, @PersilPower, though whether he's coughed up for that yet seems to be unknown

I simply cannot imagine Meghan in Africa . Ever. She couldn’t hack a fully organised, supported Royal Tour , there is no way she would live there .

Maybe in South Africa? In one of the wealthy bits? I can't really see it either but then I don't really know what she is like.

MrsLeonFarrell · 03/10/2024 13:30

Glooop · 03/10/2024 12:57

But how does his charity work alone create a revenue stream to keep his family in the lifestyle that they have become accustomed to and afford the 24/7 security they require?

They need to make money - unless they have enough cash already stashed for life?

I think that they were offered an African/Commonwealth role/placement prior to departure and it didnt suit .... most likely as there was zero cash generating options. I dont see MM aspiring to bring up her children in Africa.

It would be cheaper in Africa (although security probably wouldn't be).

This is the fundamental problem that I think drives a lot of their decisions. They are trying to live a billionaire lifestyle but they 'only' have millions at their disposal.

Should be all of it. Honestly it grates my nipples seeing him looking the public in the eye knowing full well he’s essentially scamming us out of public funds. Even that 10% could be the difference for someone receiving medical treatment, a term of education, etc. He is shameless.

In one of her podcasts she referred to the home of the British High Commissioner, where they stayed in Cape Town, as a 'housing unit' and said that Archie was in danger because of a 'fire' which never happened. Apparently a lot of South Africans weren't best pleased at her sneery attitude.

For reference, this is the home which wasn't good enough for the Duchess.

No way are they ever going go get half in - half out. Not even a Harry in Meghan out, while they are still a couple.

I think there is a slim chance of Charles and William having Harry back on his own but they'll also be wary incase they become the next Andrew & Fergie, Divorced but back together living in the same place.

Not for Meghan. She couldn’t get back to California fast enough. They made sure they weren’t still in Canada when lockdown restrictions began. They bought an excessively sized house in a posh bit of LA. They could have gone anywhere in the States but no they choose a swanky expensive area amongst the Hollywood elite. She has no intention of living anywhere else

Needanewname42 · 03/10/2024 13:47

I definitely can't see Meghan relocating anywhere. That's never going to happen.

So not really a viable alternative then!

Yes I can see how the RF would have to consider all eventualities over the long term - although they could slap on a NDA (which MM was keen to gloat that she isnt under one in The Cut interview).....

But its not worth the stress. The trust is shattered. The hurt still stings I imagine.

Whatever happens next there are teams of highly intelligent strategic thinkers on board at the palace who will have second guessed H&Ms antics and everything will be done to preserve the reputation and longevity of the monarchy. They have experience, intellect and time as resources at their disposal to play this long game - H&M have none of these.

It will be interesting if PH doesnt get what he wants in the short term from his recent new PR image (ie security and BRF association/reconcilliation) - how long will it be before he gets frustrated and vengeful again and kicks off with Spare 2 etc? Does anyone know when his appeal for security is?

Yes it will be interesting.

Autumnalfun · 03/10/2024 14:43

I do wonder if Megan was supposed to go and back out. It was reported as both of them initially.

Needanewname42 · 03/10/2024 14:48

It feels like something is changing. And it's interesting just guessing what's coming next, and what is going on behind the scenes.

Including the weird stuff like, reports that Williams asking where is the engagement 💍 ring that's got two of Diana's diamonds in it!

Baital · 03/10/2024 15:47

Hhmmmm... I think the 'Harry loves Africa' stuff is he likes the wealthy white saviour lifestyle.

But yes, they could have the luxury lifestyle more cheaply.

TurtlesDoNotPetsMake · 03/10/2024 16:04

Absolutely agree Baital

Needanewname42 · 03/10/2024 16:13

Yip could be right it's the rich man can do something.
But then it could also be the weather, and the peacefulness of it.

The Royals have access to plenty peaceful estates including Balmoral - but it just doesn't come with the weather.

However Meghan would never go for Africa far to removed from the glitz and glamour of the Royal Palaces or Hollywood.

I saw that, and the sourcing was crap, so I think it’s one that counts as invented bollocks

Puzzledandpissedoff · 03/10/2024 17:26

This seems a bit odd: I just googled Prince Harry in Africa and clicked the news tab, and among the mainstream media there's pitifully little coverage (oh, and apparently nothing said about Africa Parks so far)

It's a vast contrast to the wall to wall nonsense we got when Meghan was with him, and while a lot may have been negative attention at least it kept them in the headlines

Hard not to wonder how they'll each feel about this, and how it'll be spun as a huge success if the MSM aren't even going to bother with it ...

Edited

'Africa' is a big place, and not everywhere is 'peaceful', unfortunately...

This is true, however the area he visits is peaceful.

Baital · 03/10/2024 18:34

Of course. But it as ridiculous to say 'he loves Africa' as 'he loves/hates Europe'.

An exclusive villa in the south of France? On the front line in Ukraine? In a refugee camp in Greece? In a semi in a British suburb?

Let’s face it ; Meghan is a controversial person so attracts comment . Her high priced ever changing wardrobe is a source of gossip ( usually because it doesn’t fit!). This is not the image Harry wants to focus on so I reckon we will see more solo events . How Meghan feels about this can only be imagined.

I just wonder what grenade she’s planning to lob to get herself back in the limelight, I simply can’t imagine she’s sitting quietly at home in Monteshitshow self-reflecting on the whole debacle and promising to do better 🙄
She hinted at having never signed a NDA and that she had plenty of material for a tell-all book; I dread to think what further damage she could inflict on the royal family etc. I certainly wouldn’t put it past her, a woman scorned etc.
I’m actually surprised that Harry can remember how to function independently without her hanging off his arm, clawing his leg and butting into every conversation and occasional, hogging the stage literally and metaphorically.
