Why Hollywood Keeps Quitting on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle (hollywoodreporter.com)

Why’d they all leave? What explains the churn? “Everyone’s terrified of Meghan,” claims a source close to the couple. “She belittles people, she doesn’t take advice. They’re both poor decision-makers, they change their minds frequently. Harry is a very, very charming person — no airs at all — but he’s very much an enabler. And she’s just terrible.”

Would you work for Harry and Meghan? Ex-employees say run away.

In my opinion, WME, Oprah, that literary agent "godmother" at the book store, Ted Sarandos - they are all still there because they are waiting for the time when H&M are so desperate that they have to start spilling major tea, whether that's more stories about the RF or on each other. As well as utilising the children and/or being persuaded down the "reality" TV route. They are vultures circling something dying, hoping they will be first in line when it starts spilling its guts.

Lifestooshort71 · 14/09/2024 13:48

I can't see a divorce tbh - if Harry wanted one then she could put obstacles in the way re the children, and I don't see that Meghan would gain anything by being divorced. You'd need to be a rather foolish multimillionaire to get involved with a middle-aged ex of the BRF with 2 titled children and plenty of excess baggage. I think H will reconcile with some of the family and spend time in the UK each year while she focuses on becoming a successful business woman of some sort in the US. Outwardly, they'll be 'happily married'. As to the children, they're the ones I feel sorry for and I can't see how their future will pan out - all the secrecy surrounding them is beginning to feel like a Michael Jackson set up 😒

Sparklywhiteteeth · 14/09/2024 13:50

I’m not sure Megan wants or needs love, just adoration .i think she’s entirely self focused. If she’s with someone it will be about what he can provide. Money. Power. Influence, she wants a Barack Obama. A George clooney. A bill gates. The head of a network . An Elon musk. A Jeff Bozos.

as long as she thinks she needs Harry she will stay with him. She would stay happily single after any split, if she had a powerful network of friends, particularly female friends. Powerful women she could hitch her star to.and be seen as the same as,

however her star isn’t just on the wane, it’s circling the gutter. So she’s going to cling on to Harry for as long as she can

Uricon2 · 14/09/2024 13:50

Other members of the RF come in for plenty of criticism @Verityveritas675 , some of it more than deserved, some personal opinion and in yet more cases utterly out of order. The tosh talked on these boards about Kate having plastic surgery/William being a domestic abuser (etc, etc, etc) based on absolutely nothing, at a time when she was ill (it transpired very ill) was atrocious. Criticism of H and M is focused on what they've said and their behaviour.

We all have the right to form opinions and the sheer, inconsistent, destructive hypocrisy that has been a feature of the Sussexes modus operandi over several years invites a negative take. I've done a 180 from Harry being my favourite Royal and nothing but happy when he married Meghan and his betrayal of his family is a large part of that. If chickens are starting to come home to roost, maybe it will make them take stock and do better, although I have little hope.

Verityveritas675 · 14/09/2024 12:56

Fair enough I admit that I have not dived very deeply in to any of this and only know the washing up story and not the others.

I don’t know what she is like in reality and in all honesty I don’t really care that much. But I hate loads of people piling on one person all of the time! It doesn’t seem quite fair to me when the RF have some equally divisive characters!

To be fair, she piled on the RF when the reality is she was treated well by them. She is still giving them (not so) veiled threats to this day.

Everyone and their mother knows the washing up story. There are probably aliens on Mars with their hands over their ears, sick of that story 😁

Verityveritas675 · 14/09/2024 13:26

I have been making the same point actually; how does anyone know that the people who have made a comment on behalf of one side, are necessarily supporters of the other?

They don’t! And yet if a Republican makes a an anti RF comment, they are automatically accused of being pro- H & M. You see it on these threads all of the time and yet individual viewpoints are just that!

As for Bill Simons, beloved of sports jocks everywhere, the same “Bill” who has been criticised for lack of diversity in his staff and who faced widespread criticism when he made an off colour comment about the chances of a local sports team, comparing fans feelings to “lingering trauma” over the murder of Martin Luther King; he doesn’t sound like the most objective of judges to me!

No, there are republicans on here who are quite clearly not impressed by any member of the RF, including the Sussexes, which makes far more sense than claiming to be a republican yet still seeking to defend the Sussexes. The same Sussexes who live in an actual republic yet seem to want to use their titles for commercial gain, go on fake “royal” tours and seem to insist that their titles make them superior to other citizens and have styled their children as “prince and princess” (which other actual working royals have not done). It would seem that there are those who claim to be republicans who actually would miraculously become monarchists if the Sussexes, by some bizarre twist of fate, were to ascend to the throne 😆

Who is 'Bill Simons'?

Do you mean Bill Simmons?

Whatever you may think of him personally, he's a very successful figure in the industry, so what he says matters. Just as it matters when a major trade publication runs a very critical piece on the Sussexes.

Is there anyone senior in the entertainment industry who has recently gone on the record praising these two?

LifeExperience · 14/09/2024 14:04

Smirke · 12/09/2024 22:49

Whats the reputation, reach and impact of this publication?

This recent thread about and old Tom Bower book seems consistent.
www.mumsnet.com/talk/the_royal_family/5162613-revenge-by-tom-bower

The Hollywood Reporter has been the Bible of La-la-land since 1930 and is read by everyone in the entertainment business. This is not good for MM's career aspirations at all.

@Verityveritas675

but but but ‘Andrew xxxx’
but but but ‘Hollywood Reporter is xxx’
but but but ‘Bill Simmons is xxxx’
🙄

I’m wondering, as someone who claims not to be a die hard supporter of the couple, at what point do you start to question whether what you are seeing in this couple might actually be a facade?

The whole 'I'm not a fan honestly' but yet I somehow have every talking point at my fingertips thing is getting a bit old.

LifeExperience · 14/09/2024 14:12

Greentreesandbushes · 13/09/2024 08:20

Reading this thread is so depressing. Why so much hate for someone that you don’t know?

Also have you had a conversation with Harry in real life? I have, he was charming.

Calling out someone who treats other people horribly is not hate. And MM treats her staff horribly.

LifeExperience · 14/09/2024 14:12

No it’s not hate. And people should call out bad behaviour. It’s so wrong to try to silence people with juvenile sayings like hate or haters.

Someone like Gavin Newson might well be in her sights - 2028 election and her as First lady......

100% they are predatory and ruthless.

Uricon2 · 14/09/2024 14:29

Wow. I'm sure the timing of the release of this (Harry 40 tomorrow) is no coincidence, either.

You can see the video on YouTube. He is obviously trying to be fair, whilst at the same time standing by the story.

He does make the point that Harry always claimed it was the palace leaking to paint Meghan in a bad light but that the fact rumours are now coming from the US suggests this was not the case.

Did he say if all the sources were 'Brits'?

Thedom · 14/09/2024 14:33

Wow, that is telling, Hollywood Reporter doubling down on the report and announcing the number of sources they have.

I guess all those who have suffered at her hands must be feeling very vindicated right now, William too !

Smirke · 14/09/2024 14:36

I think the most telling comment in this interview is that they have spoken to someone very senior who works with H&M - ie the present tense - not someone who worked with them.....wonder who that is???

Thedom · 14/09/2024 14:36

Oh well, she can have a tête-à-tête with her lovely neighbour and best friend Ellen, about coping with being exposed as a workplace bully.

What's the name of the British guy who was in the Netflix doc? He came with them from KP, I think.

Also, could the guy who left Invictus recently and the other 2 who left last year be spilling the beans?

LifeExperience · 14/09/2024 14:48

Twistybranch · 13/09/2024 18:36

I was thinking, is it someone british? They use the word fuming. Is that a word use in America? To any Americans out there

American here. Yes, "fuming" is used frequently to describe being very angry.

Thedom · 14/09/2024 14:49

He clearly says someone working for them currently at a senior level.

Wonder how they will manage the PR on this, Ellen had to grovel, publicly apologise and lost her job, James Corden had to publicly apologise and grovel.

There is no way they can continue their online anti-bullying crusade, the bottom has collapsed now with this disclosure.

A bit excruciating to remember Harry recently discussing about not knowing what your kids are experiencing in the next room on their tablet or phone, just as bad is going into work day in and day out, needing to earn a living, and being berated and bullied by your boss.
