I liked it I think it gave a little insight to the other side of their life. I think it was discreetly saying this is what is important to us. Glad she is feeling better.

Wasn't it Kate who said it was "preventative chemotherapy" in her statement?

I imagine she said that at the time to prevent the speculation.

Remember at the time the tabloids and social media were full of everything from her being out of the limelight to give it until the holidays to announce their separation, to her having been in a coma and dying.

Penguinsa · 09/09/2024 17:46

When they use the term preventative chemo here it normally means all the cancer that's visible on scans has been taken out but that doesn't mean all clear as there can be cells round the body that cannot be seen on scans and will come back as stage 4 and sometimes that can be as far out as 20 or 30 years later. I had preventative chemo and if I had said no there would be a 6 in 100 more chance I would be dead in 10 years, was in my 40s from breast cancer.

Shakenandstirredup · 09/09/2024 17:46

I’ve not followed the story that much, I didn’t realise she had cancer. I thought it was preventative chemo to be sure. Is preventative chemo the same as normal chemo?

PoppysAunt · 09/09/2024 17:47

I'm not one for these sentimental videos, but I thought it was lovely. They look like such a happy, loving family. It's stressful having a health scare with young children, with the added stress of Charles' illness as well, no doubt it was tough.
I'm glad she's doing well.

AnnieMcFanny · 09/09/2024 17:48

It struck me that Catherine has an absolutely beautiful voice!

Yes, she does.

And nothing said at all that consisted of a word salad.

Some awful stuff on here, really unpleasant.

I couldn't decide whether it was more like a life insurance advert - the cheesy voice over - or a tampon advert, the white dress running free through the fields 🤔

Honestly, how twatty.

TerfTalking · 09/09/2024 17:49

I thought it was lovely but more so necessary in light of all the shit they have received previously.

I also loved that dress, my dress of choice for European summer holidays. I bet that didn’t come from the TikTok shop. 😀

crumblingschools · 09/09/2024 17:50

@Shakenandstirredup how can you not know she had cancer? The chemo is to mop up any cancerous cells left after tumour is removed.

Hazeby · 09/09/2024 17:52

I feel a bit uneasy. It was all about appreciating what you have in life and what matters. And KP are saying it’s not yet known if she’s cancer-free. I mean, if she’s not after all the chemo, then what?

Shakenandstirredup · 09/09/2024 17:52

@crumblingschools I don’t know tbh, I think I thought I read she didn’t have cancer but the preventative chemo was to be sure just in case.

diddl · 09/09/2024 17:53

Well all the best to them.

A lot for them all to go through at such young ages.

It was lovely to see Michael and Carole in the video too. And see how they interact with the children. You can tell they are a very close family and they’ve been a massive support.

I agree that she has been too generous to the media after all they put her through.

I couldn't agree more. I'm glad she's decided not to be bitter and petty about it.
It's true about being grateful for some of the simple things in life.

Penguinsa · 09/09/2024 17:54

Shaken You can have chemo at different points in treatment depending on what the doctors think optimal - some people have it at the start when obviously its not just preventative its designed to shrink or eliminate as much of the cancer as they can. Some people have it after cancer surgery when either the surgery has removed all the visible cancer then they can call it preventative chemo or sometimes after a surgery that has not taken all the cancer out. There are many different chemos but the same types of chemo can be used in both cases. It can also be used in stage 4 treatment. Some cause all hair to fall out (breast cancer treatment ones do unless you are offered cold cap - I wasn't) and some chemos do not.

MouseofCommons · 09/09/2024 17:54

Whatever they announced back in March was possibly sugar coated as they had to think of their children first of all.

PoppysAunt · 09/09/2024 17:55

Quite.

Shakenandstirredup · 09/09/2024 17:55

@Penguinsa thank you.

BunnyLake · 09/09/2024 17:56

That was lovely. They are such a lovely family. The children look so genuinely happy and loved.

ArabellaScott · 09/09/2024 17:57

Do not climb on timber stacks, ffs!

lemonstolemonade · 09/09/2024 17:57

I thought it was a bit OTT and maybe even slightly tone deaf, given that many of those with cancer won't have the hope of a cancer free future - the "there is light, I'll be with you" message seemed a bit off, but obviously that is Kate's truth and it is worth celebrating for her.

But I thought the family were happy and it was a beautiful video. I do wish them all the best and hope Kate stays cancer free.

Yes, and very lively and happy. I like the fact that you saw the Middleton grandparents playing with them. So nice and unspoiled.

Comedycook · 09/09/2024 17:57

I thought the video looked a bit like an advert for an upmarket holiday park.

Still, it's great news to hear she is well.

Grousull · 09/09/2024 17:58

Good luck to them. Not a Royal fan but she’s just a mum at the end of the day, those kids need her.

I was thinking the same thing!
