They're never going to please everyone, so I hope they're just doing things the way they want and that work best for them.

I get why some people think it’s a bit OTT. But at the same time, I can understand why they’ve done it like this after the shit storm that happened last time. I don’t think people would have been satisfied with a short written statement, just like they weren’t last time. They can never really win.

It is beautiful edited and very intimate. I personally loved it.

Exactly this. When they didn't announce her illness straight away there were endless comments to the effect that there should be a statement. When she issued the Mother's Day picture she was heavily criticised because she photoshopped it.

Now, having made a more extensive statement she is criticised for it being OTT and the professionally produced video is criticised as being too slick. She really can't win can she.

It is great to hear that she has completed her treatment and is recovering.

BarbaraHoward · 09/09/2024 16:59

The video is a bit much for my tastes, but great news that she's finished her treatment.

I couldn't decide whether it was more like a life insurance advert - the cheesy voice over - or a tampon advert, the white dress running free through the fields 🤔

Life insurance ad! That's what it looks like!

The video isn't to my taste. A bit cringey and overproduced. But it's great to hear that she's on the mend and will hopefully be returning to public engagements soon.

itsgettingweird · 09/09/2024 17:00

Awwww that video is beautiful.

For anyone who has been through a cancer journey (both my parents had it at the same time and my mum died of it) those words truly resonate.

I love the video professional or not.

It reminds you to make the most of every moment you have because you will regret it if you don't.

Anyone else love when Charlotte screamed at the bug that had been in her hair 😂 just kids being kids.

PigglyWigglyOhYeah · 09/09/2024 17:01

I thought it was lovely. Pleased to see her and the family. A class act.

NoMoreFalafelForYou · 09/09/2024 17:02

It’s a bit much for my taste. Bit schmaltzy. Did she mount him at one point? I’m very pleased she is healthy and looking very well. I do like them very much.

Hedgerow2 · 09/09/2024 17:02

I thought there were some beautiful and very intimate scenes - with her head on William's shoulder for example or hugging the kids. And the family playing cards with the Middletons.

I think they were just so surprised and shocked at first that they handled it poorly, and now they've swung the other way a bit with We Will Communicate A Particular Image And Message And Leave You In No Doubt About That.

But presumably she had time this time to decide what's best for her and she likes it, so who cares if I do.

AuntieJoyce · 09/09/2024 17:03

I like Kate and wish her all the best but dear me that video was like a Timotei advert

thesugarbumfairy · 09/09/2024 17:05

I'm glad for the family. But I saw them on that pile of logs and just thought - H&S nightmare - think of what happened to Elizabeth Walton!!

museumum · 09/09/2024 17:05

Some bits of the video are naturalistic and nice but other bits are soooo over-done. Ah well, glad to hear she's finished chemo and feeling optimistic.

LindorDoubleChoc · 09/09/2024 17:05

I feel sorry that they felt they had to make such a personal announcement public like this, due to all the furore over her somehow doing it "wrong" before. Continued good health to her. Her poor children must have been so scared.

NeverMindTheBackProblems · 09/09/2024 17:06

Gosh I feel quite emotional after watching that! It's lovely to see them all so close and relaxed instead of the formalities we usually see. So glad she is well on the road to recovery now.

GlobalCitz · 09/09/2024 17:06

I'm pleased with the news, but felt like I was watching an American life insurance ad.

Nanny0gg · 09/09/2024 17:07

ThePoshUns · 09/09/2024 16:48

It is slick but very moving.
It sounds like she has been very unwell, I think the video is to put an end to all the speculation about her health and her marriage.
I really wish her well.

^^this

Sounds like it's been quite gruelling

And I think it's lovely to see how close they are as they make a point of not being all hand-holdy and loved up when they're on duty

Bontonbonbon · 09/09/2024 17:07

Someone will always criticise. It’s the nature of people.

But I thought it was lovely and very well done, especially because it meant she didn’t have to make a long, uncomfortable statement to camera. She’s the future Queen consort there is a lot of pressure to get it right. I thought quite a nice balance between formal and intimate.

Vikina · 09/09/2024 17:07

The video made me cry. I wish her well.

Uricon2 · 09/09/2024 17:07

It was a very different official RF video and I loved it, trying to work out exactly where it was filmed (definitely North Norfolk near the coast)

In some respects, I think it is quite a droll way of responding to the barrage of criticism of her poor little photoshopped picture on Mothers Day, so good for her/them.

VanCleefArpels · 09/09/2024 17:08

Wonder what all the “they’ve actually separated the marriage is a sham he shags everything that moves” gang will say to the romance of it 😜

YourHangryQuail · 09/09/2024 17:09

Is she stunting on Meghan that she can drive a Manual car lol? I thought that cutaway was random but other than that a really nice video.

BettyBardMacDonald · 09/09/2024 17:09

Happy for her and her family.

It appears she didn't lose her hair; that must have been a massive relief.

Don't blame her for keeping the diagnosis private but one can't help be curious. It seems a missed opportunity to become a champion for treatment and research.

Getonwitit · 09/09/2024 17:10

Clearinguptheclutter · 09/09/2024 16:39

It’s indeed a very nice video but incredibly “slick” and clearly very professionally produced.
possibly a bit OTT IMO

If I was in her shoes I think I’d just do a short written statement and leave it at that!

good news anyway

She tried that and the media demanded more.

SpanielPaws · 09/09/2024 17:12

She has had a long treatment stage which is a likely indicator of how serious her cancer was/is. And her colour indicates that she's a fairly long way from being well. She is absolutely right to let her body recover from it - a relative had chemo last year for cells that were found post hysterectomy and she's still struggling to return to work as her kidneys were so badly damaged by the chemo. I feel a bit sad in some ways that she's had to put this out to silence critics of her absence.

The Queen was so right to give them an estate in Norfolk, we holidayed near Holkham and I never wanted to come home - it's a beautiful part of the UK.

Joystir59 · 09/09/2024 17:13

Made me cry
