Meghans trademark not allowed

The patent office apparently has turned down the trademark of Meghans new jam making business American Riviera Orchard on the grounds that you can't trademark geographical locations. You would have thought somebody would have picked up on this before now.

I don’t think a documentary about Polo will bring anyone any joy.

Yeh odd timing right? Do we want to watch polo ponies in sunny locations and people in big sunglasses quaffing champers for our Xmas viewing?

The Miss Havisham/Bad Manners idea has sunk without a trace. The optioning of Meet Me At The Lake doesn't seem to be going anywhere at the moment either. Nothing anywhere on the Netflix site about either

Both Polo and the lifestyle/cookery/friendship show were on the official partner "chat" section of the Netflix site. Before yesterday, there was no release date given for either (and some were sceptical that that part of the site was reliable). Well, it was for Polo. No reason to doubt that the cookery show is underway - a puff piece (not hosted on the Netflix site) suggested that it will be early next year. No idea if ARO/successor to ARO can be ready to really sell stuff by then.

The Polo programme will attract the curious and the horsey, and if there's a good Spanish dubbed/subtitled version available then it may well be watched in Argentina (where polo, not just the ancient variants, is a much more followed sport. If it's an engaging "how the rich" live programme, with a bit of the ancient history and it doesn't shy away from animal welfare, astronomical cost and environmental impact, then there might be a competent and watchable programme. Not a blockbuster, but not necessarily a flop either (and a lot of "ifs")

The goat-based variants are also ancient sports in Central Asia, extending into China. Not sure if that can be used as a selling point to spread the geographical reach of this though!

the mail is reporting they will do another tour, likely Botswana . It seems they think it’s positive publicity so they will keep doing these rather odd tours to try improve their image,

netflix are not stupid. They won’t slam the door. They know full well there may be a time when they want back in. Ie they divorce and they want the interview or something.

No way in hell NF paid a few million for that book in order to give it to 'Archewell'. What I heard is that NF optioned the rights to the book, which studios do all the time. It won't have been for anything close to that amount though. That was over a year ago and silence since then.

I agree.....do you know why they had PH joined the interview later? That struck me as odd - as it was his family and institution they were deriding and fleeing from - so why did MM get the solo lead?

I'm sure that happened a lot in battle. Book 11 of The Iliad has Agamemnon beheading a Trojan and then the head getting kicked about in the melee.

Also the Maenad women in Euripides' Bacchae play footie with Pentheus' head after they've ripped it off.

I always think Meghan is on pins whenever Harry is let off the leash to speak for himself. She obviously wanted to control the narrative without even more of the awkward moments that occur when Harry looks embarrassed by her claims. He is not v good at hiding his true feelings ( classic being the curtsy story . He looked mortified and as though he was inwardly cringing ). He isn't man enough to speak.up however so once Meghan has told 'her truth ' he is forced to go along with it. He is a weak man basically .

And no, NF are not going to pay millions for the rights to a book which is hardly a blockbuster, in order to give it to a production company with zero experience in handling book adaptations. It's a PR stunt.

I don't know but one thing I know for certain is that if the marriage fails it will be everyone else's fault, the media , the public and above all the Royal Family's.

I agree with this, I also think the choice was made to have Meghan solo first because she's a better performer for the cameras (as a professional actress) and also she made all the racism allegations when she was solo with OW. It would've looked awkward if Harry had been present for that, not least because his recollections might well have varied from Meghan's. It was certainly noticeable that Harry looked dumbfounded and confused when asked about one of the racism allegations when he joined them. He didn't go as far as verbally corroborating Meghan's version, he just made that ambiguous nasal squaffing noise that posh men make when they don't wholly agree with something but don't want to be rude and disagree either.

What I would really like to know is if Harry was made privy to the Meghan-only portion of the OW interview before it was aired. I bet he wasn't.

I agree. The perfect twosome would have been blissfully happy if only the pesky media had allowed them to live their lives in private. Tbh I am surprised they've stayed together as long as this.
