Meghans trademark not allowed

The patent office apparently has turned down the trademark of Meghans new jam making business American Riviera Orchard on the grounds that you can't trademark geographical locations. You would have thought somebody would have picked up on this before now.

I thought maybe the O was left out because she originally planned to call it American Riviera….which sounds nice. But was probably told after she had designed the logo, that it’s unlikely to pass at the Patent office for a TM.

So then they just stuck on Orchard. The name makes no sense and was much ridiculed when we first heard it.

I think she will keep any new name just to AR and I think she will keep the logo.

I was thinking this. It is old fashioned and not in a good way. I am convinced she designed it herself (well, it won't be Harry, will it?) and yet again a task better left to a professional.

All so, so amateurish.

She could always call it American Riviera Sussex Enterprise.

That could rent out their spare fleet of cars.

She could play on the name of the home that she supposely lives in, 'the Chateau of Riven Rock' in Montecito.

I like the name 'Riven'. Or 'Cleave' (double meaning.) Or just 'Merch'.

I was making a silly suggestion based on what the initials would spell out.

I imagine Tyler is none too happy that an FOI request to the local police showed that MM had told paps where to find them (ie at his house).

Yep, clear as day, their logo is a copy with a few changes here and there. 😏 Makes her a bit of a weirdo, no?

I wonder what the RF make of it. Putting everything together, rather worrying.

The logo feels very 80s to me. Neither gold nor swirly seems at all current - but maybe that's different in the States?

The similarity to the BP gates is very marked, now it's been pointed out.

It’s another monogram for Queen Alexandra ( AR =“Alexandra Regina”), a counterpart to one for Edward VII (ER = “Edward Rex”). You can see the little “VII” at the bottom of his.

Yeah this is the gates, it’s almost identical. Which shows they are still leaning into being royal. But bloody hell. How unoriginal.

No one needs to go check it for you.

Also, that crest works well on the ornate gates of an actual palace. It doesn’t translate so well in to a logo for a commercial
enterprise
