I would also love someone to unpack my bags but I must be very vanilla as there is nothing terribly exciting in there.

Anyway do not worry. I am only commenting because I am ill so looking for posts to comment on. As soon as I am well I will be busy again and the Royal Family will once again be a board I ignore.

I wish you a speedy recovery

DH and I went to a naice hotel early on in our relationship. We left some, ahem, items on the bed and the bed in a bit of disarray before we went down to dinner. When we returned to the room we found that someone had been in and tidied the bed and left chocolates on our pillows with a goodnight message 😱😂🙄

I think hat wearing is just a thing for the royals in church. The pictures of the Queen show she is wearing one too. And the King is in full kilt regalia. There is a nice picture of his knees 😂

Those hats are very "in" in the county set. You see loads of people wearing them at horsey events. Some of the trendy twenty something girls on our yard love them, they look great with horsey type clothes. https://www.cotswoldcountryhats.com/fedora-hats-64-c.asp
she looks very country casual to me.

Manypaws · 26/08/2024 21:27

@smilesy the staff would have been pointing and whispering 🤣

Well in another hotel we ended up in the room next to a couple who seemed to be acting out “50 Shades of Grey”, complete with whips and handcuffs. The walls were thin and we could hear everything 😂. We were desperately trying to work out who they were at breakfast the next morning. Perhaps that was what the hotel staff were trying to do with us 😂😂😂

Manypaws · 26/08/2024 21:32

🤣🤣🤣🤣

Trust me the staff will have seen everything before.

I worked in a very nice hotel as a manager many years ago and I remember a certain young, long haired female tennis player staying there with her entourage when she was married to a sportsman. The lucky housekeeping staff got to clear up the extensive evidence that she was having an affair.

so nobody would have batted an eyelid at a few toys on thr bed ! Nobody cares what the guests are doing in the privacy of their rooms.

I can’t imagine they would unpack your toiletries bag though. Just hang up your clothes and put your shoes away. I doubt they’d touch anything personal like toiletries, make up or jewellery. Lots of top end hotels do that too. Sounds like Cherie was playing fast and loose with her excuses 😆

Well she did make that claim in her autobiography so it’s possible there was some ‘artistic licence’ to make the Leo conception story a bit more exciting for publicity.

No I’m sure they don’t. Which is why I think Cherie Blair being bothered about staff finding contraceptives is a stretch 😆

Lady Louise Windsor wears hats in that style at carriage driving events. (Maybe Catherine borrowed one?)

Staff might not care. That does not mean Cherie would not care.
I am embarrassed when having my smear even though the nurse does smears with loads of women.
So not a stretch at all.

Manypaws · 26/08/2024 22:08

You are projecting again. If as you say, Cherie was “hapy to wear trousers against protocol”, I would imagine her embarrassment threshold is pretty high. And anyway it’s not likely they would empty out her toiletries bag 🙄

lazybrownfox · 26/08/2024 23:38

@Nadeed

"Nobody is criticising Catherine. So I do not know why you are claiming it is a pile on. Threads meander into different topics. That is how a chat forum works."

Read what I said. I didn't say anyone was criticising the POW. I know very well how a chat forum works. Unlike yourself I am a regular and know all the tricks.

lazybrownfox · 26/08/2024 23:39

Smears , contraceptives and big stretches 😂😂😂

Ordinary folk are not used to staff seeing personal items.

lazybrownfox · 27/08/2024 00:48

They had staff - they weren't ordinary people.

AutumnCrow · 27/08/2024 00:51

I always had a soft spot for Cherie Blair (born Booth) from Liverpool. I think I'll read her biography now - my local library's probably got it.

Aah, this is her own comment on why she wrote it: 'I feel so privileged to have travelled so far. So much has happened ... that it feels wrong somehow just to let it pass as if the journey had no meaning.'

SnappingAtHeels · 27/08/2024 06:41

Likewhatever · 26/08/2024 19:53

Apparently too embarrassed to pack contraceptives in case the servants unpacking their cases discovered them, but not too embarrassed to have a shag under the Queen’s roof 🤢

Also not too embarrassed to tell the entire world the story.

MrsFinkelstein · 27/08/2024 08:00

Well, that was not a fun few pages of pigeon chess to read.

Good to see Catherine out and about again, quite like the hat, don't think I'd suit it though.

Last time I went to church (Church of Scotland) everyone wore "smart". No jeans. Couple of people wearing hats.

She was the wife of the Prime Minister, not Marjorie from down the road. She was working as a QC. Do you really think she didn't have staff at number 10 ?

Church of Scotland is smart dress. Its traditional. You don't turn up in jeans unlike some other Churches. In general Scottish people are careful about what they wear to occasions. ( that's the best way I can phrase it without starting a war 😂)

DelectableMe · 27/08/2024 10:52

They are, @lazybrownfox - I admire that.
