Nice to see her out and about.

SpanielPaws · 25/08/2024 18:57

Poor Kate probably fancied a lie in with a bacon butty and massive mug of coffee, but instead had to have hair/make up done and get all dolled up for church.

I'd have played the "I'm not well" card on that one, tbh.

summerlemons · 25/08/2024 19:17

Lovely to see her. She appears less frail than she did - she looks healthy and well.

WinnieTheW0rm · 25/08/2024 19:22

Were the press invited, as they are for Christmas church at Sandringham?

Or are these pap shots?

I know. Imagine having to get yourself all dressed up with full makeup on a Sunday morning. I think that would be one of the worst things about being royal.

ThatAvidViewer · 25/08/2024 19:46

To be fair. They go to church for Easter, Christmas and when they are at Balmoral. So it's not like she has to go every Sunday. (Maybe she goes to church every Sunday no idea if she does or not but if she does she is not pictured)

Why do they insist on calling her Kate Middleton still? She’s not used that name for 13 years!

Reason they say is SEO. But if everyone (media) uses her correct name then SEO will also adjust. It's just weird. Her whole family is named by their correct name except for her.

She looks great

Runnerinthenight · 25/08/2024 19:52

Good to see her out and looking well. Think I'd have left the hat at home though!

BemusedAmerican · 26/08/2024 01:09

I looked at that photo and thought that I liked her hat. 😁. Is she expected to have her head covered in the church?

LoneHydrangea · 26/08/2024 01:14

I wonder if they ever feel ridiculously over-dressed? Imagine getting gussied up to the point you’re wearing a hat just to go to a Sunday service in a little church. It’s all very silly.

Her hair is brushed and tied back. Lots of women put on make up every morning before going outside.

Think they're pap shots. I'd imagine if they were invited - like Easter & Christmas then the Royals would have walked in etc rather than just passing in the cars

Apart from the hat they are not particularly overdressed - most people at our tiny church in the UK dress just like that. Some
of the older ladies - 70s+ wear hats.

Is your UK church very informal?

in the USA our little Episcopalian church which is the equivalent Anglican Church is a mixture - most men wear suits and ties and women wear smart skirts / dresses etc but several are much more casual and no one cares.

FriendlyRobin · 26/08/2024 05:28

Yes UK church is much more informal. Lots of jeans. Very unusual to see lots of people very dressed up or the little hats.

The point is more she has to get super dressed up on a sunday. Most of us I the UK don't do church either and (especially if recover g from cancer) may well have a late morming having a lie in and brunch etc.

FriendlyRobin · 26/08/2024 05:28

"women in skirts/dresses" sounds really archaic unless it's something like the amish...

Thmssngvwlsrnd · 26/08/2024 07:21

Lovely to see that she's feeling good enough to be out. I hope she's well on the road to recovery now.

BalloonSlayer · 26/08/2024 07:48

I have read that when staying at Balmoral, the men are expected to come down for breakfast but the women are given breakfast in bed. Sounds like my kind of arrangement! So a once-a-week get up early and go to church doesn't seem too bad.

(Love how scratched and knackered that wing mirror looks)

outdamnedspots · 26/08/2024 07:52

God, the lack of journalism. Wtf are they calling her Kate Middleton?

And this: 'Also snapped making their way to the Scottish church were King and Queen Camillaa, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburghh - along with their son, and Tim Lawrence.'

Their son?? I didn't realise that Charles and Camilla had shared dc.

All nonsense.

Ours isn't. Older folk often in hats. Sunday best!

If you don't put your Sunday best on for Sundays and funerals when do you ever get a respite from the gardening clothes and the wellies?

Was the service at 11 a.m.? Not too much of an early hustle.

If you've got a date with Jesus I don't think he cares whether you wear a big red hat or torn jeans but I might have that wrong.

Commas are your friend here! They make it clear that the son belongs to the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh. 🤣

But who does Tim Lawrence belong to? Where is Anne 🤔

Regarding being smart for church, my dad always wears a suit and tie to church - and there are only 3 worshippers at his church!
