There's a distinct whiff of them both living seperate lives now.

TinySmol · 13/07/2024 14:19

It will be interesting to see if she sits through the entire match - which could be long. Or if she shows up solely to hand over the trophy.

It just seems to prove the point that women’s sport will always be inferior to men’s.

In fairness, women's tennis is vastly inferior to men's tennis right now. There is way more interest in the men's final. That will be the case regardless of what members of the royal family do.

In any case, the men's final is seen as the climax of the tournament, so if the Princess is only able to attend one event, the men's final would make sense.

Granted, I've got a cold at the moment so my sense of smell isn't the best right now.

But I'm not getting any such 'whiff'.

MatLeave · 13/07/2024 14:22

Some of these comments are nasty. I'm glad she feels well enough to attend and hope she has a wonderful day.

PopSockette · 13/07/2024 14:24

They normally enter the summer holidays around now so this will be one last work burst before a well earned rest.

Because one is going to the football and the other to the tennis?

Don’t be ridiculous. Catherine has cancer and is undergoing chemo which I can assure you is no picnic . Obviously she is not out and about .
William has official events , a wife and children to support not to mention supporting his Dad .
What possible evidence do you have for them having separate lives ?

PopSockette · 13/07/2024 14:31

She nearly always goes to watch her husband in his charity polo event which took place on Friday and was scheduled to appear and give out the prizes but was no doubt saving up her energy for Wimbledon.

DancingPhantomsOnTheTerrace · 13/07/2024 14:31

Because one is going to the football and the other to the tennis?

Of course - don't you know that's the universal sign of an impending divorce?

I'm watching the tennis tomorrow and then DH is going out to watch the football. I'll be telling him it's over first thing Monday.

It's bizarre that people think we know anywhere near enough about their lives to comment on the strength of their marriage.

Yes, it’s a sure sign of an impending divorce. Along with not smiling whilst sitting in the passenger seat of a car.

Perhaps those of us who aren’t hard of thinking can see there’s a massive logistical difference between flying to the other side of the world and flying a couple of hours to Berlin on relatively short notice, and can find it in our hearts to forgive him.

If it would have been the men's, he'd have travelled anywhere.

Discussions like this are not really helpful as it’s impossible to compare people’s circumstances. “Most people” undergoing serious health problems and chemotherapy aren’t also globally famous like the Princess of Wales. They also haven’t had to live through a global, organised campaign of abuse either. So you don’t really know what someone in this woman’s circumstances would be able to do b

This is such an important point. The woman personally has been subjected to a global, organised campaign of abuse to tarnish her as a bit of a shit and a racist, fgs. While she is ill. While she is having cancer treatment.

Frankly I'm amazed she hasn't walked. I'm glad she put her foot down and negotiated time off. I would like to believe that MI6 now know exactly who is behind the campaign and have decided what to do about it The whole campaign is odious, tawdry, underhand and sinister. It is certainly not the path to a co-operative republicanism. It is about causing chaos and instability.

It's completely obvious to anyone with no skin in the game that
a) she's a patron of the tennis association and he's the president of the FA
b) someone in a challenging state of health might find it easier to take a car to Wimbledon than a plane to Berlin

AnitaLoos · 13/07/2024 14:38

When I had cancer some years ago I took a year off work completely. Lots of people do. Nobody called me ‘workshy’ - at least not within my hearing. But then I don’t know many arseholes in real life.

TheUndomesticGoddess · 13/07/2024 14:41

You seriously think he'd have missed the men's World Cup football final if England were in it? Yeah, right.

Apparently William went to the Taylor Swift concert to propose to her and show the 'Skake It Off' hit-maker her new royal step-children, and fought Travis Kelce in the VIP suite and tried to rip off his beard with his bare hands. Travis Kelce fought back with gusto and landed a well-crafted blow to William's solar plexus while Taylor Swift screamed 'not the face! not the face!' and 'oh my god I am soooo writing a song about this'.

bully for her - two days work in the last 6 months? Most people in her condition have to work constantly.

What a horrible comment about someone receiving treatment for cancer. Have you had chemo then and worked all the way through it without any problems?
When my dd had chemo every 2 weeks for 5 months she slept for 4-5 days straight after then gradually felt better had a better week and then it started again. She wasn't allowed to be on public transport or in school or in crowds for risk of catching something which could have killed her.
And she still has health problems from the chemo.

Please don’t deflect. You appear to know what he’s thinking. Why wasn’t he at the semi?

It's great that her treatment schedule hasn't clashed with the Tennis, or should that be the other way around?

I think the Women’s Final would be better optics.

I think if I were mum to 3 still quite young children who had faced/is possibly still facing for all we know, death, I wouldn’t give a monkey’s about optics. I’d grab a bit of joy when I could. Hope she has an excellent day.
