As in Prince and Princess Michael ? Yes, they were there on Sunday, I'm pretty sure I heard that Princess Michael was going to deputise if Kate wasn't well enough. Their son Freddie Windsor was there with his wife Claudia

Edited

It was the Duchess of Gloucester who was going to stand in for Catherine if needed.

I’m also glad (in a funny way) to see I’m not the only one who muddles Sophie and Claudia Winkleman! Sophie is Freddie’s wife

StiffyByngsDogBartholomew · 15/07/2024 18:20

God they don't even look the same 😂
yes that's the one I meant, the one off Peep Show

are they related ? It's a fairly unusual name

ARichtGoodDram · 15/07/2024 18:24

WinnieTheW0rm · 15/07/2024 17:36

I meant the Duke (former President) and Duchess of Kent

I think people usually overlook that there's two Prince Edwards, so it was nice to see him name-checked that way!

(I think its pretty normal for just the dukedom name to refer to the duke and duchess - as in the Edinburghs, the Gloucesters, the Sussexes and previously, the Cambridges. Apologies that it wasn't clear to some)

The Duke is very frail now and doesn’t attend many events. The Duchess stepped away from royal events years ago and lives quite privately now so if she did go we’d likely never know . She didn’t attend the Queen’s funeral or the coronation

They are half sisters

🙏

I’m not upset. Just not ever keen to leave nasty posts standing without a reply.

I do think someone is upset though!

You really are better off ignoring than replying. Don’t feed the troll.

Apologies. Prince and Princess Michael are of Kent though aren't they ? It's all too confusing 😂

ah I've just done a bit of googling, so the Duke/Prince Edward but not the Duke of Edinburgh Prince Edward is Prince Michael's elder brother. So the same relationship as George and Louis. I didn't realise there was more than one Prince Edward.

I don't really have a great grasp on the family tree of that generation of royals

Edited

You Have to go back to George V and his DC.

The eldest was Edward (abdicated) then first spare became George VI (followed by Elizabeth II and the bit of the family tree you're probably more familiar with.

But he had more spares

  • Princess Mary - the Princess Royal of her generation, married Henry Lascelles, the Earl of Harewood
  • Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester, whose eldest son Prince William of Gloucester died age 30 in a plane crash, so dukedom inherited by the spare, Prince Richard (the current Duke) married to Katherine Worsley
  • Prince George, Duke of Kent, dukedom inherited by his eldest son Prince Edward (the current Duke), married to Birgitte van Deurs Hendriksen; current Duke's younger siblings are Prince Michael of Kent and Princess Alexandra
  • Prince John (died in his teens)

Thanks for that, it’s really interesting.

There’s a really good tv series on Prince John called The Lost Prince. It’s a really sad story, he had epilepsy and some sort of learning difficulty (possibly autism), so the royal family hide him away from the public in order to shelter him. I thoroughly recommend it.

Sorry but that’s not quite correct . When Prince William of Gloucester was killed his brother Richard inherited the Dukedom . He married Birgitte
The current Duke of Kent ( Prince Edward) married Katherine Worsley.
The Duchess of Kent stepped back years ago as someone said and The Duke of Kent is frail but still undertakes a few engagements as does Princess Alexandra .

Don't talk nonsense.

You post on quite a lot of them too btw, and it's "there" you mean not "their".

You seem so angry at me. Which is also creepy. Your name is not very familiar to me. Care to explain why I’m on your personal radar then? Have we interacted at some point?

I do recognise the name. I always know straight away I am going to disagree with their posts!

Runnerinthenight · 15/07/2024 19:18

Just to keep on track (!) I wonder when we might see Kate in public again? Probably not over the summer?

I think over the summer there might be a glimpse of them at Crathie while at balmoral at very most, but probably not.

Schools are breaking up around now.

If she is still under medical supervision, I guess they'll be off to Anmer, Balmoral, visits to various Middletons and visits to other friends (ie staying in the UK but having a nice change of scenery)

You're right - I got the duchesses in a twist!

(I do know really, it just somehow came out all wrong!)

Apologies

Mylovelygreendress · 15/07/2024 19:33

No need to apologise !
A little known fact is that Lady Davina , daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester married Gary Lewis a Māori and they have mixed race children . So MM was not the first mixed race person in the RF .
Davina and Gary are now divorced.

Mylovelygreendress · 15/07/2024 19:35

Lady Davina with her daughter Senna Kowhai.

It’s not my first post on this thread, I think it’s my fourth. Having said that you shouldn’t be stalking me, it’s against the rules.

It’s just so tiresome to read the bickering posts. @AliceOlive, a word of advice, just step away. Bullies enjoy seeing you upset.

Don’t be ridiculous, stalking you 😂, I thought it a bit rich that a poster who has never posted on any royal family thread before this one thinks they can police posters, if you don’t like what you perceive to be bickering posts you can always scroll on by, so take your own advice, just step away.

(I'll get my coat)

I'm feeling really stupid tonight, but I don't get this.

I think it's just that they are wearing shirt numbers 9 and 6 (their ages?) so if they were the other way round it would read 6 9 rather than 9 6. Which apparently nobody can see without giggling 🙄

SentebalesChair · 15/07/2024 20:18

Not something I would have ever associated with children.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 15/07/2024 20:18

Thanks @DappledThings I’ve obviously lead a sheltered life.

😲

I just thought it was because of the madness around the place photo of the children and William which only showed them from the back.
