Part 6 of positive threads, delving into all things Meghan and Harry. Whether it’s the causes they support, their business initiatives, or Meghan’s fashion choices (Harry’s too, on occasion 😉), there’s plenty to discuss Just a pro-tip - that there may be use of MLE terms and discussions of dupes - you might want to exit stage left if these things offend. This is a relatively drama free zone - let’s keep things light! Clinking a glass of lemonade 🥂 to @queentim for the original inspiration.

I also prefer her hair in a softer bun - like the one on her wedding day, for example.
The very severe, scraped back look is very unforgiving on nearly everyone unless they're classically beautiful.

I agree. I don't know why Meghan does that so often! Especially with the severe centre-parting. It's a look which only the Grace Kellys of this world can really carry off. It reminds me of a moan I heard from a hairdresser once who said 'Why do these women insist on having such long hair and then tie it back 90% of the time?' Also, i'd like to see her actual hair, which I'm sure would be lovely, rather than the lank, over-straightened locks we usually see - or are they all extensions? I'm pretty naive about the things people do to themselves these days!!

She's a very attractive woman, but she doesn't always get things right, either in term so fit or colour, for me. Yes, I agree that bright colours suit her better than sludgey neutrals (which are very chic in themselves, but just don't flatter her).

I also preferred her when she was more natural (sorry) with a slightly fuller face. Is is Ozempic? Who knows. She is very slight in build, but there's something different about her face these days which can't surely be down to simple ageing.

Agree with much of what pps have said. I think she’s lost, style wise. She needs an honest friend with taste and a good eye.

CoffeeCantata · 17/07/2024 12:07

Oh - re the severe, centre-parted hair.

The person she seems to be channeling is definitely Wallis Simpson!!

NoNekkidNonNigerians · 17/07/2024 12:41

There are some snaps of her looking uncannily like Wallis.

PrincessMee · 17/07/2024 15:07

Yes there are.

ThePoshUns · 17/07/2024 16:32

Definitely and I don't think it's a coincidence either

PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 17/07/2024 17:11

I feel this has to be intentional

Why anyone wants to look like a gigantic pigeon has shat on you is anyone's guess.

Some of my favourite Meghan looks. I don’t think I’ve liked anything she’s worn since they went to America. We have different styles but I can appreciate a good outfit when I see it (as with Catherine) but she’s just had oversized, badly fit, creased and crumpled clothes recently.

She looks so nice in these pictures! I always followed her style in the beginning. Why doesn't she look like this anymore? Such flattering colours and cuts. They fit!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but as well as having a massive clothing budget and a housekeeping service, when she was an official royal Meghan used her friend Jessica Mulroney as a stylist.
She should re-employ her!

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 17/07/2024 18:08

I think Jessica was branded a racist and dropped. Publicly anyway, hopefully they are still friends on the quiet (otherwise it will be very strange for her children to look back on their role in a royal wedding without having any further relationship with the bride and groom).

I presume Jessica would be like this. @DelectableMe

And she’d be right.

Jessica M is a weird one with fashion - she seems to be great at dressing other people - but the choices she makes for herself are very odd sometimes.

Yes, I have to agree, though really - what a role model to channel! I'm not condemning Wallis any more than Edward VIII, but she was hardly an admired figure at the time and people were extremely rude about her looks.

She was thin and stylish, but it's not an image which you'd think Meghan wanted to cultivate.

DelectableMe · 17/07/2024 19:24

@CoffeeCantata well, I will always condemn Wallis, she was an avowed segregationalist, white supremacist, openly antisemitic and in a relationship with Ribbentrop. Edward didn't have much to recommend him either.
They deserved each other, and became increasingly desperate about their money, status and titles in the years following the Abduction. Pair of racist, entitled, greedy chancers.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 17/07/2024 19:25

There are a couple of other Wallis like outfits. The belted white suit at the Jubilee service; the red bow blouse and hoop earrings she wore in the photos taken by Milan Harriman (the ones he's ostentatiously submitted to the National Portrait Gallery for cataloguing because he thinks a lot of himself);

I’m not sure they are still friends. I think JM was swiftly dropped when she got herself into hot water. There were plenty of things about that wedding that looked strange so this will just be one more.

MM’s clothes when she was friendly with JM were quite tarty. I don’t know whether that was her own taste or JM’s influence. She was better dressed when a working royal.

DeftLemonDog · 18/07/2024 03:40

Charles has certainly been a very generous Pa.

Well yeah. William and Harry both got their money from Pa, and Charles got his money from the Queen and the Queen got her money from her father and…. That’s how it works. There’s no merit to it. It’s all about inheritances and allowances.

It’s not even generosity. How long would the other family members be happy with the current and historical inheritance set up if the one in charge didn’t fund their lives of luxury?

DelectableMe · 18/07/2024 04:51

it's not even generosity 😂
No, giving Meghan huge amounts to live in that style wasn't generous at all! Why wasn't she given Windsor Castle, a private plane and her own couturier?! I heard that they hid money from her and made her buy her toiletries from Aldi.

DeftLemonDog · 18/07/2024 06:13

It’s got nothing to do with generosity. It’s about keeping the family members living in great style so they are willing to put up with the status quo.

Yes , that’s what I think. It’s also deliberate it seems to me.

No. It's about welcoming someone into the family with generosity. Giving them wealth, titles, opportunities, status, a global stage. They take it all and decide that the "status quo" isn't good enough for them?. How greedy and entitled

Why would you want to copy a committed segregationalist, antisemite and follower of the Nazi party? Talk about toxic.
I suppose not everyone reads History books though.

Well here in my part of the UK that severe parting is often coined rhe croydon face-lift. So maybe it's got nothing to do with copying some other famous person.

No the Croydon face lift is the severe pulled back without a parting.
My daughter has hair similar to Meghan and pulls it into a bun if she can't be bothered straighten it or moisturise it. She'd be horrified at the Croydon idea!
I can't believe that Meghan would emulate Wallis Simpson, she's surely not that ignorant!
