Part 6 of positive threads, delving into all things Meghan and Harry. Whether it’s the causes they support, their business initiatives, or Meghan’s fashion choices (Harry’s too, on occasion 😉), there’s plenty to discuss Just a pro-tip - that there may be use of MLE terms and discussions of dupes - you might want to exit stage left if these things offend. This is a relatively drama free zone - let’s keep things light! Clinking a glass of lemonade 🥂 to @queentim for the original inspiration.

Why does the stylist keep pairing ivory and crisp white together- it looks odd. Particularly with the contrast of linen and a fine knit.

How do you know there is a stylist?

South America is amazing. I would recommend Brazil - it's huge though! It has an incredible vibe and is very diverse. If you can, go to Peru and visit Macchu Pichu (sp). It's an experience like no other. I would also recommend Chile, some of the best food! The Portuguese and Spanish colonial legacy is apparent all over S.America.
I do think you would need to be careful in Colombia - as everywhere, really, but there are significant and particular problems there.

I love talking South America! We have been to Brazil very many times. The first time was in 1989! Chile is a fave too, it was at one point the happiest country in South America. I'm desperate to go back, one day hopefully...

I want to see more of Chile. I could spend hours in those markets. Brazil is incredible - have you been to the NW coast? Fascinating.
I took a tour down the Amazon.

MummyJ12 · 18/08/2024 09:34

Good point @Twistybranch. I also wondered why linen was chosen as it creases so much but Meghan changed into this last minute for an appearance of 20 minutes so I don’t think creases were an issue.
You’re right about her having a stylist, a wise move and on the whole, the outfits have been much better suited to her, and they fit well.

Yes! We have travelled up and down Brazil but I cannot put into words how humid the Amazon was. I love the heat I can cope with humidity but this was off the scale, did you find that?!
Manaus was something else too
Sorry I don't mean to derail, I'll shut up now!!

I adapted ok, but then I used to live in Borneo. Manaus was amazing.
I'll shut up too, now! 😊

Another mismatched white/cream outfit. A shame. As has been said before, the outfits could have been stylish but just end up looking cheap/ thrown together. Despite the expense.

A bit of thought and care is important, which is why I would posit the notion that there is no stylist (or stylist worth a button) involved. The fabric is as important as the design. No one needs to be seen as being uncomfortably hot.

I do think a tailor has been utilised for some outfits though. It makes a difference.

It is also time to ditch the bronzer. No one, not even Noone, needs a face looking several shades darker than the rest of your skin.

I feel whoever the stylist is, they are trying too hard to create a signature look. It feels laboured.
It feels placed and not natural. She walks around like coastal Californian, sorority rich bitch Pinterest board.

I can’t for the life of me think why she hasn’t been given a US Vogue cover though. She is clearly divisive, but that would sell like hot cakes. Blake lively is clearly a divisive character right now- but she has a natural flair for fashion even if it isn’t your thing, feels authenticity her style. That’s why she’s Sept issue material.

When you think of all the garments that would be available to M, with the exception of a few outfits, most are pretty boring and uninspiring.

How she dressed pre Harry was much more interesting and fashionable. You would think that instinct would kick in for her. If she returned to her fashion roots, I think she would be more respected for her fashion choices.

DelectableMe · 18/08/2024 09:45

"not even Noone" 😂

MrsFinkelstein · 18/08/2024 09:54

I prefer her outfit choices to the Nigerian ones.
But nothing she's worn has made me want to go and buy it or similar.
They've just been nice.
I loved the colour of the blue dress, but not the cut.
Nicest one IMO was the black and cream 2 piece. I'd maybe buy something similar if it was on sale, but tbh, I have a few outfits kind of the same already, so probably not.
The all cream/white look with the hat was ok, I'd have kept the shades of both top & skirt the same, though I'm not sure whether they are the same colour but the different material makes one look ivory rather than white.
Never liked Panama hats.

She looks lovely as always, her makeup and hair have been great. I agree with PP, she does need to tone down the bronzer.

Edit apelling

😂😂 Hilarious!

Pre-Harry she was friends with Jessica Mulroney who doubled up as her stylist. Although not a nice person at all, Jessica has a great eye for a look and how to put an outfit together. She had a lot of influence on Meghan’s style.
I think I’ve posted upthread that the big name designers don’t want to work with Meghan at the moment (in loaning or gifting clothes). Therefore, she has to buy from them…. so apart from a few pieces (she’s worn some Chanel slingbacks in Columbia during this visit), she opts for smaller, lesser known designers.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 18/08/2024 09:58

The Vintage Read traces M’s fashion choices improving in the pre Harry years to her meeting Misha Nonoo (Noone??) in 2014 and setting her sights on marrying a rich, British man. Before that it was tacky, Valley girl.

MrsLeonFarrell · 18/08/2024 10:00

She is changing for every event, where? How? Does the convoy stop on the side of the road? Do they have to unpack a changing tent between visits? Maybe this is why they were late, couldn't find a convenient loo to change in?

These were my thoughts exactly! It’s all a bit Mariah Carey. The last outfit was only on for 20 minutes?! I don’t know if I could be bothered, and I absolutely love fashion!

Plus changing clothes always makes me feel hot and flustered, it can't be fun. I suppose they are maximising the number of photos they can sell?

sausawyee · 18/08/2024 10:19

I can't say her pre Harry wardrobe was any better. There are some horrific sights on here.

Yes. A different look for different photos.

Oh I liked a lot of those outfits!
I wish she dressed with a bit more sense of humour like she did here! That t-shirt 😂

Yes, I always thought she could make a ton of money selling tees with ‘ILBW’, ‘Fucking grifter’
through ARO….shows a sense of humour and makes lemonade out of all the lemons….and we know she loves her lemons

Sort of like how Gwyneth takes the piss out of herself and can commercialise it

This is why she can never write a convincing autobiography. She has zero sense of humour about herself. Every self depiction is perfect angel or perfect victim.

NoNekkidNonNigerians · 18/08/2024 10:37

As for accessories? Most onlookers seem to be plumping for this one.

A fairly strong statement I think. Also a sentiment that springs to mind wherever this pair rock up. Double bubble.

And perhaps be useful for carrying items to combat the heat. Anti-perspirant. A personal fan. (No - not that kind.) An absorbent towel or Hermes throw perhaps.

It looks as though the bag might go with the yellow frock too.

Handy.

Something else to cling on to.

Arguably more useful (when out and about) than the item she currently has a tight grip on.

And a strong message too. Punctuation IS important.

Noone would probably agree.
