Part 6 of positive threads, delving into all things Meghan and Harry. Whether it’s the causes they support, their business initiatives, or Meghan’s fashion choices (Harry’s too, on occasion 😉), there’s plenty to discuss Just a pro-tip - that there may be use of MLE terms and discussions of dupes - you might want to exit stage left if these things offend. This is a relatively drama free zone - let’s keep things light! Clinking a glass of lemonade 🥂 to @queentim for the original inspiration.

It is quite possible the manspread is a tactic to stop an unsightly sweat patch forming. No-one wants to see that.

Although one could understand why chafing on such a sensitive spot would be best avoided.

I think a pair of loose chinos under which you have cotton underwear would work. You don't have to look like the obligatory hung over bloke who put on whatever was left on the bedroom floor.

LaMarschallin · 18/08/2024 07:11

So, has Meghan given a speech in her "fluent" Spanish yet?
I see she apparently spoke a sentence to a child in Spanish but, tbf, even I could do that in my rusty, never-would-have-called-it-fluent Spanish (I lived in South America for two years in my early teens). Even Harry managed to memorise the Spanish for "What is your name?" and "How old are you?".
Maybe one day the people in Colombia will be able to listen to a proper speech in Spanish given by one of the Wales children?

@skullbabe
Thanks for the pics, I have liked just about all the outfits they have worn, but my absolute fave was the navy cutaway waistcoat and cigarette trousers, really classy. I also liked the caramel VB outfit, and didn't see any sweat patches on pics I looked at (and no thanks I don't need anyone linking pics showing that, I just liked what I saw, that's it!). Meghan is obviously doing something right as the DMail called her 'effortlessly chic'.

I love South America and I've been to nearly all the countries there over decades apart from Colombia, the nearest I got was Panama, it's a shame it gets such a bad rap, it has a rich colourful history, good to see it highlighted by Harry and Meghan.

I don't like people disagreeing with me or proving I'm wrong either.

Colombia gets a bad rap because it’s the cocaine capital of the world, poverty is widespread, killings and kidnappings are rife, the VP feels the need to travel around in an armoured helicopter due to assassination attempts and she and the president (and numerous leaders before them) are seen/proven by their own populace to be corrupt and authoritarian. HTH.

Oh dear, I’m thinking of his ‘todger’ and Elizabeth Arden. 😂

Thedom · 18/08/2024 07:55

They have highlighted nothing about a rich history or the country itself 😂 it's all about Meghans outfits and Harry's misery and Meghans' clingon antics. .

The most it has highlighted is how badly the VP is viewed by the majority of the people of her country, and the people of her own home town who feel she has betrayed everything she originally stood for.

The whole show looks like it was done on the cheap, despite the 2million price tag , which was clearly eaten up on security and transport. The luncheon posted about above, not even a tablecloth, looks like a few desks were dragged into a gym and set up there.

However from an influencer on SM, who is publicly critical of this tour and the VP's publicly stated vacuous reason for inviting them, I have learned something about the vulnerable indigenous people of Colombia, maybe at some point in their future, the two 'humanitarians' could upgrade their tours by attempting to highlight something other the next outfit change and personal photo op of a cheap shit visit paid for by countries who are know for corruption and mistreatment of their own people..

Internally displaced Colombians fight for survival in the city | UNHCR

Remaining in many of the traditional villages in Colombia’s Chocó region means living with violence resulting from the country’s armed conflict, but moving to the city brings new problems, such as how to make a living without access to land and fishing...

@Thedom - spot on. Arrogant, out of touch aristocrats aren't helping this nation at all.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 18/08/2024 07:59

@Thedom They don’t care about the displaced Baka tribe in their own African Parks project. Why should they care about displaced tribes in Colombia? It’s not as if they can use them to poke at Harry’s father, like he did with the Canadian indigenous leaders.

So true, nor the schoolgirls kidnapped and raped and kept as sex slaves by BokoHaram in Nigeria, even an incident during that visit wasn't worth a mention.

So funny how some poor souls fall hook, line and sinker, for the PR.

Plus Meghan looks like she is channelling her inner colonial self in that white outfit with the Panama hat, the irony of wearing that to that particular site.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 18/08/2024 08:35

Yes, so true. But it’s all about who feeds their egos and makes them look like “humanitarian philanthropists”. That cosplaying doesn’t include the real humans involved unless they are useful props for a photo op. Her using up charity funds to take a fashion photographer with her when she was a mere cable actress doing a single pay for play visit to Rwanda for World Vision should have been red flag enough.

That hat! Her SS minions would have made mincemeat of Catherine donning a similar colonial look. So tone deaf! But at least Catherine knows how to coordinate her whites.

skullbabe · 18/08/2024 08:48

Thanks @Spectre8.

Meghan was wearing a two-piece outfit from Johanna Ortiz. And yes - the Vice President’s office did release video overnight.

skullbabe - Meghan is wearing a dress very similar in styling to the green/brown Martin Grant maxi dress during the Australia tour - haven’t been able to find a full on view but looks very similar. I think

@skullbabe It’s not a dress. It’s a top and skirt, by Johanna Ortiz. I had already posted about it last night but like you, couldn’t find a decent photo of Meghan wearing the outfit. It’s black and white but you can’t tell.
You obviously missed my post.

DelectableMe · 18/08/2024 08:53

I think she looks a lot better than she did in Nigeria. Her hair is much better, more natural looking, more flattering and her skin looks better. It's nice to see her in a bit of colour - that nice blue - like when she was officially royal. I don't think the pinky beige post RF suits her, really.
It's a hot country, people are going to sweat, so I won't judge her for that, but maybe she needs to think about avoiding certain fabrics in the heat.

skullbabe · 18/08/2024 08:58

Thanks @BustingBaoBun - I like looking up outfits and clothes. South America has always been on my bucket list - I’ve wanted to go to Peru but have been fascinated by the choices the VP has chosen to highlight in Colombia in their visit.

MummyJ12 · 18/08/2024 08:59

I agree @DelectableMe. The Joanna Ortiz dress was polyester. Which won’t have been at all comfortable in the heat.
The Johanna Ortiz deep ocean top and hello sailor skirt that she wore last night was silk. A much better option!

South America is amazing. I would recommend Brazil - it's huge though! It has an incredible vibe and is very diverse. If you can, go to Peru and visit Macchu Pichu (sp). It's an experience like no other. I would also recommend Chile, some of the best food! The Portuguese and Spanish colonial legacy is apparent all over S.America.
I do think you would need to be careful in Colombia - as everywhere, really, but there are significant and particular problems there.

skullbabe · 18/08/2024 09:05

The Vice President and Harry and Meghan visited San Basilio de Palenque and listened to speeches from community leaders about the importance of preserving Palenquen culture and historical landmarks. Harry then spoke in Spanish, thanking the community for their warm reception (👀 🤣 - this I will have to hear to believe 🤣). They all then walked through the town and looked through the street market.

Meghan went for a white tank top, long line skirt and a Panama hat by another Colombian designer. A very simple look but well put together. Harry went with a light blue shirt and cream trousers - unfortunately the leather necklace made a reappearance but thankfully not the loafers too 🤣.

What puzzles me is how people think the Sussexes can help them?

I see one guy is allegedly getting a donation from Harry to a music centre. Is this what Harry represents? A walking ATM? I have been enough places to know that a white Westerner is seen as an opportunity to get something out of and he is perceived as a wealthy Westerner.

DelectableMe · 18/08/2024 09:07

I think that's a more appropriate look for Harry. He looks a bit cooler and better. I'd like him to get rid of the necklace. Also the beard, but that's very subjective.
