Part 6 of positive threads, delving into all things Meghan and Harry. Whether it’s the causes they support, their business initiatives, or Meghan’s fashion choices (Harry’s too, on occasion 😉), there’s plenty to discuss Just a pro-tip - that there may be use of MLE terms and discussions of dupes - you might want to exit stage left if these things offend. This is a relatively drama free zone - let’s keep things light! Clinking a glass of lemonade 🥂 to @queentim for the original inspiration.

I don’t think it does anyone a great service to gush about them constantly. Even when it isn’t merited.

And it is being done a lot recently.

When your army of fans hold you up as a fashion icon and DEMAND that only positive things are said about your appearance, then it’s probably best not to force the viewer into a situation where they have to gaslight themselves into thinking you look good. A hem here, a dart there and a steamer really don’t take much effort.

After all there are websites devoted to anything Meghan wears and on here we have seen great excitement for dupes and things going on Christmas lists. 🤷‍♀️

They will fit me but ofntheyvwere altered they probably fit me better since shops cnay design exactly for your body. Then again I don't give a shit if my clothed aren't perfectly.tailored for me and if other people look at me judging me then let them who cares. I'm doing what I want to do wearing what I want to.

But if you had the money to buy and wear designer clothing, you would want them to fit properly, especially if you knew you would be photographed and those photos would be widely seen. I agree that most clothes fit well enough off the peg for most of us to be happy with that, but you probably would not spend your hard earned money on something that was really ill fitting, or obviously too long

I think she's looked best for formal and working moments when she had someone styling her - either Suits wardrobe person, or Jessica M in the early royal years. I think Meghan does casual trendy dressed down looks well on her own - she seems to know what suits her and she looks good in those.

Mind you it's easier to style someone else - you see what's really there rather than our personal mirror view which comes with all the internal baggage and doesn't always process changes that come with aging.

I've liked some of her recent outfits although I wish she'd stop wearing white evening dresses and change it up with different colours. Some of them are starting to look a bit bridal.

Well who said anything who courts the public has to always wear clothes that have gone to a tailors and been altered. Maybe they are happy to buy clothes like we do and just wear them. Like the majority of people do.

But she is ( willingly ) in the public eye . It’s not Meghan’s fault that she doesn’t have a perfect figure but, time and time again she wears ill fitting often creased clothes. For the short time she was a working royal she usually looked good but now she really needs an honest stylist and some good underwear.

Or maybe she just wants.to make her own choices, why does she have to have a stylist? She doesn't. It's her choice.

NoNekkidNonNigerians · 16/07/2024 21:21

She may not need a stylist.

She needs a seamstress/tailor though.

My choice to think so.

PrincessMee · 16/07/2024 21:28

Let's be honest here - Neghan CARES VERY MUCH about how she looks and what she wears. She's no Princess Anne. She always follows the cameras to make sure that she doesn't get those side shots she doesn't like. She's not spending all that money when she doesn't care. There's nothing wrong with caring 🤷‍♀️ I've read various articles about the fact that she hates her feet and this is why she often wears long trousers or dresses to hide her toes. She also likes to wear long things to try to elongate her height ( I've read) . Why are people pretending she just doesn't care? That's ludicrous. Look at the jam/ARO launch - a ballgown. She cares and that's ok. The fact remains she often misses the mark and it may simply be down to fabric choice or bad tailoring. It's a simple thing to correct.

There is a difference in caring about what your wearing to hide tjing you personally aren't happy about vs caring what the public think.

So by whatbyou aay she is wearing trousers that are long to either hide her feet and/or elongate herself. Because to her that what she cares about. She isn't caring if it's a fashion faux pas or not right for her style or whatever comments we se there by othe posters.

She is dressing how she wants to based on what she cares about not dressing on what other people say she should

Then she can continue to look messy in public. Her choice!

Maybe so but most people want to look their best especially if they know they are being photographed and Meghan can find a camera at 50 paces.
Why wear expensive clothes that don’t fit ??

She is clearly dressing to impress and falling short of the mark.

That's your assumption since you don't know for a fact that is what she is doing unless you have spoken to her and she has told you

It is a reasonable assumption though. She is wearing expensive clothes. If she didn’t care what other people think, then why invest that
money? Why not just shop on the high street? She aspires to be in the company of a-listers. They would always ensure that their clothes are properly tailored. She always wears make up, takes care of her hair and teeth etc. It seems inconsistent to spoil that with sloppy tailoring

Don't be so disingenuous! She spends a fortune on her clothes! She clearly wants to look good but somehow manages to fall short. Doesn't take a genius to figure that out.

PrincessMee · 17/07/2024 00:31

She has made many bad choices let's be honest.

I’m not sure she did look great in Suits, her clothes were far too tight, which tbf won’t have been her choice.

She looks best in casual clothes, she’s good at accessorising.

I think her “out out” looks are less successful.

DelectableMe · 17/07/2024 06:59

I agree that she looks best in casual clothing. I'm wondering if her clothes for appearances are on loan? Maybe she can't alter them because they're returns?
She's a celebrity who does appearances for the clicks, so thinks she needs plenty of high end outfits, although to be honest I think high street would look better in many ways.

I’ve always thought that she or her team blag designer clothes for free or on loan @DelectableMe. She won’t be buying all of them, certainly not at retail prices. They can’t be altered if they have to go back, but they could be pressed.

So wearing making, lookong after your hair and teeth now means you are trying to impress. Well then we all do that don't we including you?

With clothes I buy expensive clothes cos of the material and quality of the cut obviously not to her level in terms of £ but more than just high street. I'm not doing it to impress anyone I do it because it last longer than cheap material.

I wear makeup and ensure my hair is looking good because thays how I like it not to impress anyone

And looking after your teeth is good to do to ensure they last you until you die and if it's cosmetic dentistry ppl do it if they don't like how they look and it gi es them confidence not to impress anyone.

People go get tans, wax hair off, doe their nails, grt botox etc for themselves who here does any of those things to impress people but you say she does all things clearly to impress others. Lol thats ridiculous

This is one of my favourite looks on Meghan, a Brandon Maxwell bright yellow shift dress (that she could only wear muted colours as a working royal was, of course, not true). If you look at the cut and the fit, it's excellent. She looks gorgeous, and very appropriate for a Commonwealth event.

I think that maybe accounts for why Harry and Meghan are often so badly dressed nowadays. The clothing ill fitting and creased. When Charles funded the clothing Meghan got bespoke Givenchy, Dior and McCartney, and she looked good. The pair of them seem to wear either free clothes, or ones they're paid to wear. They rarely look good imo.
Charles has certainly been a very generous Pa.

Quite!

I don't think it was sustainable though. I was amazed to read how much Meghan's wardrobe choices (while briefly a royal) had cost. I think she saw the British taxpayer as a bottomless pit to make her princess fantasies come true.

For context, my daughter worked for a designer frequently used by Camilla and their prices were nowhere hear Dior, Givenchy et al.

I think Meghan thought all her birthdays and Christmases had come at once!
