I didn’t see a new thread so wanted to start one. I’d really appreciate if everyone keeps this focused on Meghan-related fashion and lifestyle. I know I can’t expect only positive posts but let’s not get personal about Meghan or one another. 🙏

@Ohpleeeease I truly don’t mean to pull anyone up. I know that makes zero sense. Just a moment of honesty about how it was feeling to me.

I think the point of the “beautiful princess Meghan” type posts is to get under people’s skin and bring out the worst. But that’s a thread in itself.

Thank you! ❤️

There is absolutely nothing wrong with an ageing face, we all have them lol. But she goes from what looks overfilled to very deep lines and back again thus drawing attention to it. She sadly hasn't inherited her Mum's fabulous complexion so I'd stay au natural if I were her to stop the to'ing and fro'ing with the severity of visible expression lines.

As an aside though, shouldn't these threads be in style and beauty? She's a celeb not Royalty she just married a now ex working Royal.

This thread is making me feel like shit. I’m not here to pick apart the face of any woman. It’s just nasty.

I was genuine when I said I wanted it to be positive and just about fashion. I’m also not here to police anyone, but wow. It’s just gotten fucking harsh.

I am aging myself and not enjoying it. I don’t want to participate anymore.

You're quite right 🙄🙄🙄 🙄

Ohpleeeease · 21/05/2024 13:01

It’s OK to pull people up @AliceOlive (even though you weren’t trying to ). OP’s don’t own the thread but there’s no harm in shepherding them once in a while!

I agree about moving to Style and Beauty. Funnily enough I’m sure that’s where these threads started. Originally they were places to talk about royal style (lots of European royals, I learnt so much) Then Stuff started to happen and talk moved from style to conduct, at which point it became all about Harry and Meghan and they got their own long running series of threads in the Royal Family topic.

I said right at the beginning of this thread that S&B has a non judgemental Royal Style thread and that this might be the best place for this discussion 😊

People in gen pop don’t want to read about the royals, period. And of course the topics will stray a bit into royal related chat. Much of the discussion is about how people dress for the event they are attending.

Is there a forum for commentary about people’s physical looks here on MN? Faces and bodies?

I suppose it’s a bit difficult to separate Meghan the person from Meghan the clotheshorse. I like a lot of Meghan’s outfits and think she’s pretty - but I don’t care too much for many of her actions. And there are some posters who whatever she wears are ecstatic in their praise because they are Superfans and it would be treason to criticise anything about her.

And some outfits are very nice, eg the school sundress, but inappropriate for the occasion. Some outfits are horrid and all wrong, eg that playsuit thing and flip flops to march with the Invictus people. See! It’s hard to take a neutral line!

People in general do want to read about the Royals. KC, Camilla, W&k plus kids, Princess Anne etc often in the papers and discussed on here.

I think discussing appalling conduct regarding reality shows and books that directly impact the RF is one thing but chatting about her hair, clothes and skincare fails maybe a S&B thing but I'm not mnhq so I shall leave you to it Smile.

The royal style threads in S & B were actually very popular. It was very fashion focussed and there were plenty of regular contributors, much tiara talk, the European male royals got a look in and some appreciation, it was all very jolly. Then the Megxit rumblings started - some very astute posters were onto that long before it happened - and that became a more interesting topic of conversation.

Which all goes to show that wherever you start, fashion or behaviour, they pretty soon get entangled so it probably doesn’t matter where the threads sit.

On the face and body talk, there was quite a bit of it in S & B, because the length of someone’s limbs and the location of their waist has a bearing on how their clothes hang. I do find that level of scrutiny a bit uncomfortable so I tend not to go there.

Interesting decision to post pictures of pow here !!!
Seems almost too coincidental!

I thought so too! Also the reference of “Meghan’s sister-in-law” as if she doesn’t have her own identity never mind her (higher ranking) title.

Edited

I noticed that too . Reminiscent of Meghan referring to the late Queen as “ your grandmother “ and William as “ your brother”. And their statement following Catherine’s cancer announcement referred to Kate rather than the POW.
For someone so keen to be referred to by her title ( also the DC) , it seems strange.,

We all know that filters play a massive part in social media today. This is why certain stars do not permit off the cuff photos taken at gigs and why paps flourish. They all want to get that bad look shot. I saw this week people commenting on Tom Cruise in the sea and his body. For goodness sake the man is 60 years old. You don't expect him to look like a 20 year old. There is no doubt there is much greater focus/ pressure put on women than men. This is why so many women in the limelight use various therapies and procedures to try to improve their look. If that is what they want to do then why not. It's an individual decision. What has shocked me is that there are awful photos of Meghan out there which have been distorted to make her look " witchy". Meghan is a good looking woman and yes she is ageing as we all do. She like others has had many different looks some better than others. Her face has bloomed in pregnancy and then thinned as she has lost weight. Comments about all of this are par for the course with being a celebrity. There are magazines devoted to all of this. It's inevitable it is discussed.

There are websites devoted entirely to Meghan, what she wears and where you can order the clothes, earrings dupes etc. It is part of her " business" as it were positioning brands for designers I assume. Personally I have never been inspired to buy something based on the fact that I have seen a celebrity wear it but there are doubtless many who do.

Taken in March 2024. An authentic image and she nailed it. Beautiful. 😍

Lovely photo

MaturingCheeseball · 21/05/2024 16:15

I would be more swayed if some posters didn’t say “nailed it” for everything. For some she could be wearing a MAGA cap and they’d be saying how great it looks and giving links to dupes…

When someone tells an audience they have been told repeatedly they are beautiful or are supermodels, then it does tend to open up a discussion on what others think about that person's appearance.

Pippa’s engagement ring 😍

…a stunning ring.

This ring that Princess Diana wore is gorgeous. I find it more iconic and imbued with her sense of style than the engagement ring she received. I think finding out about her misery once she married her Prince at 19 tainted it for me.
