I didn’t see a new thread so wanted to start one. I’d really appreciate if everyone keeps this focused on Meghan-related fashion and lifestyle. I know I can’t expect only positive posts but let’s not get personal about Meghan or one another. 🙏

Unfortunately the Queen of Hertz frock did not fit the Nigerian princess properly.

PrincessForPay · 21/05/2024 01:48

And they may have had a flush of youth about them over 6 years ago but now one is channelling Henry VIII in his septic years and the other is giving Michael Jackson a run for his money tweakment wise.

Now we have no idea if they look rough for 40 or are doing a passable job at being 60 and looking like 50.

Sadly, while I know aging is inevitable, I think it's the weight loss that did a number on M's looks, rather than plastic surgery. Some of the photos of her show how her appearance has changed, the unfiltered ones especially.

If her dresses and trousers are following a 'trend' of overlong outfits, then she still has it wrong as the styles she is wearing are not the style for overlong fabric, nor are they overlong enough.

There is nothing wrong with looking older or indeed looking your age of course. I wish more would just embrace it rather than seeking to look like a boiled egg with features.

I just think that sometimes if you interfere with nature, you seldom win.

It could well just be the weight loss - there is a major star with a similarly alarming face - but I think it could be a combination of both. Who knows? All I know is that she was an attractive woman and now, well, she just isn’t.

And that is a curiously interesting brow.

This picture is one that my mum would have said was 'a warts and all' one and does her no favours. Possibly her weight loss has accentuated the tweaks?

That [the navy dress] and the dark green seem to really suit her. I like her green dress posted earlier. It looked more appropriate.

Meghan seems to be able to wear most colours but both those more dressier styles, ( and many of the clothes Meghan wore when in the UK) would be far too hot and uncomfortable for a hot climate. I live in a climate where it’s hot for 9 months of the year, and we’d be lucky to have a week where the navy or green dresses would be appropriate. (They look like they are from
heavier fabrics, not just darker colours.).

I tend to wear cottons and linens. I used to wear silk when I could afford it because it is very cool, but it doesn’t absorb sweat so it’s only useful for some occasions (low humidity days). Cottons and linens crush quickly, and just sitting briefly causes crushing in high humidity. My clothing gets very crushed. Linen with a mixture of viscose (man made fabric but made from a tree or something) wears quite well but it’s not as comfortable as the Cottons, linens.

I could wear wool or the lighter looking ester fabrics and look pristine without having to do a lot of ironing, but I’d get heat stroke.

Meghan stood up pretty well, but Harry was melting on the basket ball court. I saw a longer video of him playing on the court with the kids and he was wiping his brow more than once.

I didn’t like those sandy coloured shoes he was wearing with the dark trousers. And then the lighter coloured jacket on top. Nope, it was wrong. But Harry can look beautifully dressed when it suits, in more tailored suits. Before Meghan he used to wear baggy/daggy looking suits and ties, and the style he wore on the basket ball day reminded me of those days.

Harry's look is what we would refer to as " posh boy" look. It's very common in certain circles. You've been at private school, you play rugby and polo, you holiday in the Caribbean, you may have some job or other because of who your family are and this is part of the uniform.

Is this a real photo? Not touched up to make her look worse?

I love the way the ‘too long’ dresses and skirts look when the wearer is standing in one spot, but walking in them would be a hassle. And as AliceOlive has said too, my thoughts go to the dress or trousers getting dirty very quickly. Clothes are made in one length now, it seems, and they are made for tall people or people of average height that wear 6 inch heels. All my trousers have to be taken up because although I’m average height with average length legs I only wear flat shoes. Which means I have to add an extra $30 dollars tailor fee to any pair of trousers. And taking trousers up by 6 inches often ruins the cut/line of the trousers: Long live jeans that come in all the lengths.

Reminds me of how our curtains were in the eighties, they had to pool luxuriously at the bottom. (They were also ridiculously flouncy, what were we thinking?)

I love the movement of a gown that just sweeps the floor. it’s much more elegant not to have to “manage” your clothes. I don’t love the look of someone clutching their gown like Cinderella fleeing the ball just so they can move safely.

Ohpleeeease · 21/05/2024 07:56

That photo does her no favours and I think it could be down to the camera distorting the shape of her head and face. Meghan without makeup is naturally pretty- not beautiful but definitely pretty. The brows look comedic.

That's exactly what I was reminded of. A friend had them - curtains, not dresses - and used to spend ages arranging the bottoms every time they were opened or closed.
I can see the dresses look nice in stills, but I'd be scared of tripping over when on the move.

I am not sure, but apparently it was a longtime M fan who posted it on her Instagram, along with a typical complimentary comment about MM.

She was an invited guest at an event and M apparently 'knew' her and went out of her way to greet her. She got massive abuse from M fans for posting the selfie because of how unflattering it was to M. She quickly deleted the photo and made a statement about it, To me, it does look like she touched up her own face though.

This is another example, from People photoshoot of the Vancouver tour.

I agree. The photo definitely looks to have distorted both faces

Thedom · 21/05/2024 08:32

I don't think the loose skin around her mouth and cheeks could have been distorted by the camera though, could it ? Yes, the lighting is awful and not in the least bit flattering, but there are other photos of her with the obvious weight loss showing the loose skin she now has compared to only a few years ago.

Tizzwazz · 21/05/2024 09:55

What I like about these two pics is that in one her face is mobile, not stiff and the skin wrinkles the appropriate and expected amount when smiling. The other shows a relaxed face and youthfulness.

Taken in March 2024. An authentic image and she nailed it. Beautiful. 😍

Same with Meghan’s sister-in-law (wishing her well, a speedy recovery and happier times ahead). An elegant woman with a kind heart for children her authentic self is to be respected.

This thread is making me feel like shit. I’m not here to pick apart the face of any woman. It’s just nasty.

I was genuine when I said I wanted it to be positive and just about fashion. I’m also not here to police anyone, but wow. It’s just gotten fucking harsh.

I am aging myself and not enjoying it. I don’t want to participate anymore.

Another outfit that I find relaxing to look at and the flowing appearance lends an approachable air to the multifaceted individual wearing it.

Yes, I am aging and my plump face does not photograph well. Thankfully I am not in the public eye as the haters would have a field day!

These incredible women put themselves out there. They show up, do good work, raise children and support their husbands (and vice versa).

Posting this to help get this thread back on track and channel some fashionable positivity!

A new Harpers Bazaar article on Meghan’s best outfits (updated from one you have previously posted AliceOlive)

I love the green strapless Cult Gaia dress and the Toteme turtleneck midi dress!

Ohpleeeease · 21/05/2024 11:46

@AliceOlive I think most people have kept to the positive spirit you started. She’s a divisive figure, sometimes it’s hard to separate the character of the person from the look of them, and maybe that’s influenced a few comments, but you’re absolutely right to pull posters up and remind them we’re here to be nice.

AliceOlive · 21/05/2024 11:55

Agreed. And let me say, obviously the fan-girling is intended to get a rise and it always does. That’s the reason I chose just fashion and not “current events” or whatever. I’m not a fan of many personal decisions made by H&M.

I know I sound like a hypocrite, too. But I’m getting jowly and wrinkled and have always felt sensitive about bodies and faces and hair. No issue with criticism about poor fashion choices or fit or wrinkled clothing. Even “WTH wear that to x event?”

Sorry all. I don’t think the OP owns the thread, either.

@jeffgoldblum thank you. I’m ok!
