The story of Harry and the ‘conman Nigerian’ is on the front page of The Mail On Sunday print edition.

Other online news sources will run with it too after the MoS has had an hour or two of its ‘Exclusive’ status.

Not sure yet how much of a headache this could prove to be for the UK’s Head of State. But it does remind me of my dear grandfather calling them all ‘parasites’; and reiterates just how foolish Harry is and how exposed he is to this kind of embarrassing furore now.

I really hope this will make Harry stop and think about what he's doing, he's getting himself into so much hot water , maybe he doesn't care how much trouble he's causing for others but hopefully the fact that he's had so much criticism regarding this trip will give him pause for thought.

The BBC is one of many mainstream news outlets making a comment on this story because it’s on a Sunday newspaper front page.

‘Prince Harry features on the front page of the Mail on Sunday shaking hands with a man who the tabloid says has twice been deported from the United States.’

No idea what was going on here.

I've seen the video of this, I think he's being led out to play basketball but he pushes the other man's hand from his arm and doesn't look happy.

If he was Harry Sussex from Montecito on a trip to Nigeria with his wife....then it looks OK to me. He's at some sports thing, he's been chatty and friendly with the competitors, he's shown a great interest in the game and one of the organisers is encouraging him to take part - 'Come on, come on, you'll love it!'. Nothing wrong with it. As the husband of a Princess of Nigeria (and isn't he some tinpot royal from the UK?) then no, disrespectful. Looks to me as though the locals weren't quite sure what he was.

Thank you. So Harry's comedy-style objecting to throwing a basket ball and having to be led to do it by a man wearing 'Nigeria Dreams IG' tee-shirt? (Is one Misan Harriman wearing one as well?)

Well spotted. How bizarre. The whole thing is unravelling isn't it?

Harry managed to discreetly get rid of Nigeria Dreams man.

I doubt the world has ever seen a British royal being handled like that.

Harry did not actually look 'ok' on any of the photos. He seemed too quiet. Strong anxiety and depression meds can have that effect too.

It's a worrying video for sure. But many have seen this coming. He has no experience and, without palace support, he has become a pawn.

JSMill · 19/05/2024 08:26

I thought H looked tired and subdued on the trip. It feels like most of the trip was about M and he was in the background. There is a photo of him having to stand slightly behind the rest of the line up because she wouldn't make space for him and he just accepts it

Thedom · 19/05/2024 08:34

A Tribal King deported from the US for life for fraud, an airline chief wanted in the US for money laundering, these are some of the people they were happy to socialise with, take selfies with and accept gifts from.

If it does come out that he was partying with Diddy or if the Tyler Perry rumours are proven true, I don't know how they will survive that.

Thedom · 19/05/2024 08:37

To be fair to Harry, that must have been really irritating to be dragged by his coat sleeve onto a basketball court when he hadn't planned to participate, Harry had to forcibly remove the guys hand from his sleeve.

I wonder if he was suffering from jet lag having taken so many flights in a short time. Also not seeing his father . No one knows the truth about what’s going on there. Did Harry request to see his father and was refused, or did he not request to see him as BP claim? At some point he’s going to realise that’s he’s permanently frozen out and the implications of that will sink in. If he’s on medication that will numb his thinking. It’s actually quite shocking to see Harry being dragged along and shoved out of the line up.

He looked happy and relaxed with his Uncle and Aunts. He never really looks that way with Meghan.

Mylovelygreendress · 19/05/2024 08:38

Oh dear . I wonder what else will emerge in this tawdry tale ?
If Harry posted on MN about his dubious in-laws he would be advised to go NC!

Why didn’t Harry’s security intervene?

Mylovelygreendress · 19/05/2024 08:41

I totally agree about Harry never looking totally relaxed with Meghan . It’s as if he is frightened of saying/ doing the wrong thing . The way she puts herself centre stage at all times is quite disconcerting to watch.

DelectableMe · 19/05/2024 08:42

What I find concerning is the whole channeling Diana business. That's not healthy.

Can you imagine that happening to any other Royal? It’s extraordinary.

Yes I think he’s actually afraid of her.

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 19/05/2024 08:49

As I said upthread if the sexes were reversed most would be saying emotional abuse.

Thedom · 19/05/2024 08:51

Jet lag or Hangry ?? I read they didn't eat any of the foods laid on for them, which is possibly understandable in an effort to avoid the Nigerian equivalent of Delhi Belly (although it is very rude, if true).

He really appears to have lost his joie de vivre as he has gotten older, not sure if he ever enjoyed his royal tours, was just able to camouflage it better.

DelectableMe · 19/05/2024 08:53

He says that he never enjoyed royal engagements, he found them too demanding and the requirements unreasonable.
Meghan obviously struggled as well, although to be fair she was pregnant in that first year.
Perhaps they thought it would be different when they're doing it for themselves.

Lifesabeachbaby · 19/05/2024 09:02

It’s not supposed to be a tour or an engagement though, it’s meant to be a private visit!

DelectableMe · 19/05/2024 09:04

Indeed - but the optics would say otherwise!
Why take a personal photographer and journalists, why have it all filmed? Why the receptions and the GB National Anthem?
It's very strange.

Mylovelygreendress · 19/05/2024 09:10

I am wondering about the Netflix aspect . Unless I have missed something , I thought the planned Netflix stuff was the cooking programme and the polo one ?
Wondering if there is to be a new whinge fest ?

DelectableMe · 19/05/2024 09:13

In all honesty, I don't think that they know. They seem to publicise all manner of projects and proposals, yet they aren't long term or don't happen or just fizzle out. I actually think Archewell has supported some good causes, but yet again it's overshadowed by the negatives. It's extraordinary how a couple would pay so much for PR, publicity etc and how ineffective it seems to be.

Yes I don't think it's Meghan I think it's the fact that he is doing something he finds difficult. He was relaxed at Scottys but I think this kind of engagement stresses him. Plus he had jet lag and it was really hot.

His choice though.

DelectableMe · 19/05/2024 09:15

He complained of being tired (ref: Spare), which surprised me as he was still young and must have been quite fit. However , I wonder if it was the social engagement he found tiring.
