I don't see it as a "slight" on Princess Anne.
I do see it as snatching a chance to use the charity and its connection to Anne to burnish their image, it's all on the film promoting this supposedly private visit as a quasi Royal tour. The implication is they are representing a senior member of the Royal family.

I don’t think it’s a slight on Princess Anne. They should be so lucky to be compared to her.
It’s just more cosplaying royalty.

As far as I’m aware other celebs don’t have the national anthem played and don’t mince about on red carpets.

Neither is Peace. She’s a Sussex squad member.

MummyJ12 · 16/05/2024 15:25

That’s who I was talking about. (Sorry if my post wasn’t clear).

AliceOlive · 16/05/2024 15:27

I think she maybe paying her own way. Not that it makes it any less weird to follow them around!

As Others have mentioned, the visit was carefully stage managed.

The red carpet I could take or leave.

The National Anthem being played is another thing entirely. And if not both parties, H will have known the connotations that would have.

As you so rightly say, the members of the RF have far more important things to concern themselves with. I’m sure they could do without wondering what is going to happen next with a couple who chose to walk away from Royal Duties but still choose to act as if they are still Royal and representative of the UK and the RF.

She could be but her full time job is fundraising for the squad and invictus (as well as trolling). She has no other employment.
She wrote a book about sickle cell and it’s available on Amazon. I doubt that brings in the money needed to literally follow them around.

I’m sure they do. That doesn’t mean it won’t be discussed here.

Abouttimeforanamechange · 16/05/2024 16:45

I am sure the Royal Family themselves have bigger issues to focus on with Charles and Catherine's cancer.

It's not just about the royal family as a family. It's about the wider impact of these two poncing around on a pretend royal tour with all the trappings of a real royal tour, leaving themselves wide open to manipulation by others who have an interest in embarassing or discrediting the royal family.

In 2022, when Nigeria was hit by flooding, so not recently. Not sure why that means they have to go and visit 🤔 As you say, they are free to visit any charity they like, it just seems a bit odd to choose one that is so closely associated with a senior member of the family they no longer represent on a tour that wasn’t a royal tour

Well quite.

I do seriously hope they know what they are doing and have carefully considered any associations they have made.

It would be lovely to go through this world thinking that everyone had good intentions. Sadly this world is not like that.

Folk might think they are being terribly clever and a little devious. The problem with that is that there will always be someone that little bit more clever and devious than you and before you know it, you can land yourself in a pickle that you simply cannot extricate yourself from.

MaturingCheeseball · 16/05/2024 17:42

I can’t figure out who paid for this trip. So the Nigerian military covered security, but the flights, accommodation, clothes, people accompanying them, general organisation? Was it Invictus? If it was Archwell, is that legitimate?

MaturingCheeseball · 16/05/2024 17:45

Well, TheTallestSally , Meghan does seem to do devious very well, and seems to be getting away with it. And the hide of a rhino, strutting round as if she is a world leader.

Ah yes. And I see they were invited by Missan Harriman. Who took their photo by the tree in the garden

The pair of them are made of Teflon, they do seem to be completely untouchable, no matter what they do there is no comeback, it wouldn’t surprise me if they stormed the Palace grabbed the crown and sceptre and declared themselves King and Queen of the world and no one would bat an eye.

ShamedBySiri · 16/05/2024 17:50

Apparently they donated 10,000 ($ I assume)
Listed in the accounts just filed.
