One of the problems with the online element of all this, is that NOBODY understands its full scope and potential. Not even the people who created it (least of all us). It’s a modern day Pandora's box. The only correct thing to do is not engage. Sadly, if the internet is all you have (ie limited real-life support) you’re left with no choice.

I don’t think all the money thrown at WME and whoever else in a bid to control coverage will give Harry and Meghan the result they want. In the same way that the tech industry can throw trillions at AI, only for a human toddler to instantly spot the difference between real and fake on instinct alone, the same will go for this pair of twits.

Yes @MummyJ12 ! I have a sen child too! , it's what came immediately to my mind!
And as we are all technically on a parenting site , surprised no one else noticed either! 😉

MaturingCheeseball · 16/05/2024 13:22

I was reading that the SS do coordinate, so send in tag teams - whether it be MN or that small jam company. I suppose they must find it fun Hmm You can’t reason with fanatics so usually I try to ignore their tripe.

What is intriguing me at the moment is the strange support the Sussexes are getting. What is the Gavin Newspme angle? Why intervene for this pair of nonentities? And the Daily Mail… I wonder if they have struck some of deal to get good pics in return for positive coverage?

Someone will get a bingo out of this but my opinion of Newsome precedes Harry and Meghan. (Hard to fathom if you eat and breathe nothing but Sussex flakes)

Newsome is also a nepo-baby and followed Willie Brown into the San Fran mayors office. His behavior during Covid was as bad as Boris and team. No telling what his angle could be here.

I think it is fair and right that the state acknowledged that they are now in good standing, though I’m not sure why it was the governor himself. The AG could have done it. I also believe they were delinquent before it was resolved. That’s something I’ve repeatedly said is common and not concerning.

Wickedlyweary
OP there was pleased with coverage of a recent event, emphasis on that occasion was very much on the veterans and their families.
She then pleaded that that emphasis should continue, rather than making about Meghan and Harry. Of course at that point the tag teaming started and within a handful of posts the OP was being told , and I quote verbatim, to “stop your vile bullying go to gutter press pages where you belong”……..
It wasn’t a good look…the attempted bullying was certainly going on but it certainly wasn’t in anything the OP had posted.

I don't condone bullying in any circumstances and I think on MN, people's criticism of H & M is moderate and rational - I'm not speaking for any other platform.

But the Invictus Games situation has caused controversy because Meghan does seem to make it very much about her, and in a completely inappropriate way. She hogs centre stage a lot, and surely you're aware of the infamous marching and grinning in front of a veterans' parade, wearing her shorts? Can M's fans not see the problem with that? And what right has M to make speeches at Invictus events, or to forcibly drag H away from his interractions with veterans and their families? Absolutely none! No wonder she attracts criticism.

I don't see hate on here, even though Meghan's fans constantly accuse posters of being haters, however mild and reasonable their criticism. It's just so crude to label any criticism or negativity as 'hate'. People have legitimate reasons to be critical of Meghan.

If Meghan is a Nigerian Princess now, does that make Harry a Nigerian Prince?

How long until I get an email from him asking me to use my bank account and transfer $1bn for him?

(Lighthearted. For those of us old enough to remember the Nigerian Prince scams)

Yes why wasn't H made a prince?!

"Both as bad as each other " sounds like the excuse from an ineffective lazy parent who can't be bothered the install proper discipline in both children!!
It doesn't matter if "jane" called "tom" a dick last week!
"Tom" has behaved badly to "Jane" this week !
Both are wrong and neither should be excused!
I was thinking this very same thing!

Exactly.

And another cause for criticism of M & H that doesn't apply to the RF is their hypocrisy. M & H are forever going on about mental health and being anti-bullying. How they can do that when they know what the SS gets up to, I just don't know. How do they sleep at night, if they mean what they preach?

Similar with African Parks - STILL no public announcement about that! When you think how much particularly M loves to get hold of a mic and make a speech, the silence is deafening. Weird, too, that it didn't attract any criticism in Nigeria. Even if H just said he was shocked to learn of the issues and would be urging an investigation....that would be something.

Can't see why bingo would apply Alice!
You have insight into a man most of us would not know or probably never heard of, it's nice to get background.👍

AliceOlive · 16/05/2024 13:56

It was predicted that people would criticize Newsome. If you knew anything about the US political landscape though, you’d know Newsome has long been criticized and it’s nothing to do with anyone but himself.

But everyone is an expert here, right?

BemusedAmerican · 16/05/2024 13:59

The issue with Archewell is we all had to hear about M's attention to detail, how M and H took over running it after the last person left, and about their pricey employees. Then it goes into default because no one tracked a $250.00 check.

The check is in the mail is a common US joke

This is a well known squad member who gets funded to travel around with them. Interestingly also looking quite cozy with Chris Ship (itv royal rota).

Harry wanted his squad at St Paul’s for the cheers….(hence mission completed).

Oh @MummyJ12 !!
I don't know why but that has really shocked me!!
So are we saying he basically brought in supporters to cheer for him?!

BemusedAmerican · 16/05/2024 14:09

@jeffgoldblum His supporters were even posting their visit and actions online. Harry was directed over by his bodyguard to greet one outside St. Paul's.

The tshirts!!!

Yes, you couldn’t make it up could you?! She was then flown out to Nigeria to cheer them on there.

Isn't Save the Children Princess Anne's long standing gig?
I'm sure Anne isn't given to petty jealousy/protectionism or overly concerned about her own PR. But to me this is seriously overstepping the mark. It's the illusion they are happy to burnish that this is a Royal tour and they are supporting a Royal charity. Almost as if they are there to represent the Royal Patron of the charity.
I'm shocked at this.

Why else do you think the Princess of Wales was driven to making that announcement.

The Chinese and Russian bot farms were being specifically aimed at her. Not Meghan!

I don't think they are bot farms, it's all more subtle than that. The aim of the Russian intelligence services is to destabilise "enemy" countries. Kate was a target not as an individual but as a crucial element of a key British institution. Unfortunately IMO the way the whole situation was handled by the RF played into the Russians hands. And let's not forget that many many people, SM and established press were thrilled to join in the speculation.

But yeah they achieved the desired result: the British monarchy and their credibility have been undermined. Another "success" for Vladimir following Trump's election and Brexit. They seek to plant doubt, for us to stop trusting well-established institutions and to erase the idea of truth. It bugs me that they always seem two steps ahead of western governments!

Meghan is at the centre of many issues... classism, racism, anti-American snobbery, misogyny, mental health, a perceived rejection of traditional British values and so on. The way she is vilified by the British press and some individuals on line is relentless and vicious and I have no doubt some of it is monetised and orchestrated. But she is not being targeted by an enemy state.

TheTallestSally · 16/05/2024 14:20

It is a charity that the Princess Royal is associated with.

I daresay the charity will gratefully receive any publicity but it does rather look as though it is an overstep - and no doubt a deliberate one.

Did they meet with any representatives from an other charities the RF support?

Yet still a deathly silence about African Parks.

Extraordinary.

jeffgoldblum · 16/05/2024 14:20

Still I'm finding it all very shocking, strange and murky .

The Princess Royal is a bit more than ‘associated with’ she’s been their patron since 1970.

I missed everything that preceded Kate’s announcement, I don’t dilly dally with SM as a rule (although I’ve got strangely caught up in these threads), so I hope with all my heart Kate missed it too. It sounds horrific.
