I agree that things are scary: I read that upcoming elections will be the first that are decided, not just swayed, by online interference.

The Kate stuff was terrible. Say what you like about anti-Meghan posters on here and on other forums, but I truly believe not one of them would be gleeful if Meghan had revealed such a diagnosis. People sneer at her, some post ridiculous theories, but I have never seen anyone wish her harm.

Not that I know of @Mylovelygreendress !

Exactly my thoughts @MummyJ12 !

This!

Online hate aimed at Meghan and Harry and little Archie has seen people convicted of inciting violence (death threats), and they’ve been sent to prison for it. There are extremes on both sides

Wickedlywearynamechanged · 16/05/2024 11:02

There doesn’t have to be a ‘Cambridge crew’ all there has to be is hate accounts and followers. And there are plenty of those. Plus added to that, the seriously dangerous unhinged white supremacists.

MaturingCheeseball · 16/05/2024 11:05

Yeah, we’re all those here Hmm

“Both sides” is a huge misnomer.

Agreed. There are no “sides”. Or at least there weren’t until someone tried to make it so.

It’s a justification for the horrible behavior of a group.

Indeed there are. Here’s someone jailed for inciting violence against George too…

Man who urged Prince George attack given life sentence

Husnain Rashid also posted messages threatening people travelling to the World Cup in Russia.

Serenster · 16/05/2024 11:32

My point: all the senior royals - all of them- face threats like this simply because of who they are.

Having organised online hate communities that are endorsed by the Royals themselves - not so common.

notimagain · 16/05/2024 11:43

It’s a justification for the horrible behavior of a group.

There’s been an interesting example of this in a short conversation that has been running on the Invictus Foundations Facebook page over the last few days.

OP there was pleased with coverage of a recent event, emphasis on that occasion was very much on the veterans and their families.

She then pleaded that that emphasis should continue, rather than making about Meghan and Harry. Of course at that point the tag teaming started and within a handful of posts the OP was being told , and I quote verbatim, to “stop your vile bullying go to gutter press pages where you belong”……..

It wasn’t a good look…the attempted bullying was certainly going on but it certainly wasn’t in anything the OP had posted.

If those at the top Invictus can’t see how devisive this could all become they are not looking.

This is true only up to a point

Hopefully nobody would defend the hideous white supremacists who were rightly jailed, but no matter how much their fans might want to believe H&M are the only ones who count, he threats against the Sussex family formed just part of a much larger set of charges

MummyJ12 · 16/05/2024 11:53

Christopher Gibbons and Tyrone Patten-Walsh did not just target the Sussexes. They targeted numerous individuals and incited violence against many others also. Two vile people with horrific rhetoric and who rightly were brought to justice, but we are talking about two people.

The Sussex Squad have many more members than two!
The most recent example being that they tried to ruin a small local company.
Yelp had to suspend and investigate the submissions of reviews. As there were numerous spurious reviews of the Small Batch Co. all of a sudden. Then the Sussex Squad bragged that they had achieved their mission when the overall rating fell to a 1 star. Just because the company dare say that they did not supply and would not wish to supply the jam for ARO. It’s a perfect example of their vengeful actions.

The Sussex Squad is a funded organisation that wants to limit free speech and cause harm to anyone that they set their sights on. There’s nothing like this that has ever been on this scale ever social media wise. There’s no comparison.

That’s awful.
They are definitely on here. Constantly name changing.
Some openly celebrate the Sussex Squad and gleefully paste X links to posts from prominent prolific members, and some try to claim that they know nothing about the Sussex Squad with faux naivety.
The other day one poster did both!

Thedom · 16/05/2024 12:42

I also think there may be a 'male' voice amongst some of these recent posters, can't exactly explain the reasons why I think that, it's just something comes across as a bit off and it crossed my mind it could be because it's a male.

AliceOlive · 16/05/2024 12:47

@Thedom Maybe more than one.

TheTallestSally · 16/05/2024 12:48

I have no time for the wide eyed ingénue approach mummyj12

Oft accompanied with a ‘gosh’, ‘goodness’ or some other saccharine exclamation.

I don’t believe a word of the protestations or indeed accusations.

I also agree with you thedom. Fine if they are. Not so fine if they are pretending not to be male. There was a patronising platitude the other day which, in real life, I’ve only ever heard come out of the mouth of a man.

jeffgoldblum · 16/05/2024 12:52

"Both as bad as each other " sounds like the excuse from an ineffective lazy parent who can't be bothered the install proper discipline in both children!!
It doesn't matter if "jane" called "tom" a dick last week!
"Tom" has behaved badly to "Jane" this week !
Both are wrong and neither should be excused!

JaneJeffer · 16/05/2024 12:56

I don't know if it's been mentioned but does anyone know why H&M refused to dance with the Nigerian women after they had been presented with gifts? It looked so rude.

Babybreath · 16/05/2024 12:57

This is all such a shame, it didn't have to be this way . If only all the dirty washing hadn't been done in public (which I think is where all this started) I'm sure both 'sides' could have continued to work with charities in their own way .

TheTallestSally · 16/05/2024 12:59

I did not see that Jane. That does seem rude if they were invited to dance and did not.

BabyShaark · 16/05/2024 13:02

If Meghan is a Nigerian Princess now, does that make Harry a Nigerian Prince?

How long until I get an email from him asking me to use my bank account and transfer $1bn for him?

(Lighthearted. For those of us old enough to remember the Nigerian Prince scams)

I was thinking this very same thing!

It actually reminds me of when my DS was being bullied. The parents of the bully blamed my DS for being “annoying”. It was my DS’ fault that he was being bullied, bitten and punched because my son liked to talk (he’s got ADHD) they said that they’re just as bad as each other. 🙄 No! No they’re not.
