It seems the actual veterans have fuck all agency when it comes to Invictus.

TheTallestSally · 15/05/2024 13:11

I would agree autumn crow

All about the spouse of one veteran.

@MummyJ12 The term "sentinel" is disturbing. Will be interesting to see if people leave the organization

I totally agree. It has connotations of Bouzy now which means Sussex Squad, misinformation and bullying to me!
It feels like a hostile takeover!

MummyJ12 · 15/05/2024 13:19

Thedom · 15/05/2024 12:16

They have raised one thousand quid in the space of 2 or 3 months from 38 donors !!

I think the amount and number of donations is very telling, the Sussex Squad are small in numbers, goading and loud, they are amplified by bots. They don't engage in discussion, they use whataboutery and insults to shut down conversations.

You can see examples of it on a lot of public forums, maybe only two or three are posting vociferously and tag teaming, in an effort to drown out perspectives or criticisms they think may make H&M look bad.

I agree Invictus and other H&M endeavours, are getting very badly tarnished by those purporting to 'have their backs'.

Agree with you too Thedom.

I remember when some twerps were donating to M&H for their mortgage in Montecito; these are very misguided people. Also some on here stated they were buying multiple copies of Spare

A fool and his money are easily parted....

@User14March sorry about the late link. Just got out of work. Crazy day:

Interesting, thanks for posting that.

This is interesting. Sussex supporters for the Invictus games.

And look who is front and centre. They really, really need to stop her using Invictus as a vehicle for self-promotion. She has no official role or position in the organisation, she has just hi-jacked it for her own purposes.

As I said elsewhere, would you care to be the one trying to stop her? 🤔

We don't even know that's Markle as her face isn't visible. She might be staying a few more days in Nigeria to explore her new home country

I wonder if she'll ever go back? 😀
Or has Nigeria served its purpose for Meghan?

The panel show where she wears the red dress is like a sketch from Catherine Tate show

I read that she was an hour late for that event - can anyone confirm? If so, that's shocking behaviour!

User14March · 15/05/2024 16:46

@WhataPithy can you link to this? Which panel show? Thanks

I can see the funny side of most things, but I'm genuinely struggling with the SS stuff. It makes me despair of my fellow beings. No wonder so many people have friendship issues if they are this gullible and willing to be exploited.

When I look at Meghan, I see a mean girl who has strategically clawed her way to the top and is on a shameless ego trip, leaving her victims in her wake (previous partners, colleagues, Catherine, William and KC, to name but a few (not to mention the unfortunate royal staff who had to endure her bullying).

I cannot believe these people don't see through her. As I've said before on here, if you look on that insane site, Celebitchy, you'll come away with palpitations at just how crazed, ill-informed and deluded - but extremely nasty and sadistic - the SS are. It is honestly a cult - not merely like a cult.

I don't think the IG trustees can do much, even if they want to, it would probably tear the organisation apart very publicly. They have to go along with it.

They absolutely can, if they decide to. The trustees have all the power, Harry is just the figurehead, easily replaced. Public trust and confidence in the charity is a fundamental pillar and they have a duty to uphold that.

You don't know that they don't, and I'd bet a lot of them do, but who the hell is going to come out with what they think and risk the wrath of the SS?

User14March · 15/05/2024 17:53

Thank you re: link. I am struck by her poise & grace. I also think re: concept of ‘roots’ & ‘home’ about her upbringing & USA & her father’s family that that’s interesting. She speaks indirectly about the importance of role modelling & returning ‘home’.

Also, AncestryDNA offers an ethnicity ‘estimate’ which has a habit of adjusting as more people test. This might prove problematic in time if shifts elsewhere in Africa & is labelled slightly differently. What happened to her Maltese heritage, is her father partly Maltese?

AliceOlive · 15/05/2024 17:56

I read that they were transplants to Malta from … maybe Ireland and Wales. Not sure.

TheTallestSally · 15/05/2024 17:58

I’m pleased it was so delightfully informal.

I think it would have been a different interview all together if she’d asked them to call her ma’am for example.

Legally, of course they can. But in practice, they would precipitate a huge public row that could be - probably would be - hugely destructive.

So they have to balance any on-going, relatively minor problems (so far) problems that may escalate vs setting clear boundaries and getting huge and public pushback.

I think it would be awful if Harry was ousted from Invictus.

They just need to have Harry again as it's main figurehead, he used to do a good job at it, they need to help him rebuild his credibility, Invictus is all he has. Give it back to him, with him taking the sole lead for all the PR, with M showing support every now and then for important events, i.e. a fundraising gala, the closing ceremony, etc.

He mostly looks like a downtrodden puppy at these events now, it's sad to see how he has become the 'plus one'.

AliceOlive · 15/05/2024 19:08

I think it would be awful to oust him, too. I don’t see any reason to do that. I think he’s very sincere and truly cares about the participants.

Then he needs to leave his wife at home and stop accepting invitations from dodgy countries.

I’m not sure how they could “help” him. How do they tell him Meghan can’t come along anymore? 😱

Overall I’m inclined to agree, the one thing that needs to stop is what somebody (?you) described as the “merching and marching”…..at least by M, at least in association with Invictus.
