I'm sure there is worse to come

Next… they are honoured guests of Putin. Harry inspects the troops and visits wounded soldiers who have been injured fighting Ukraine. Putin invites Meghan to become the figurehead of the war, with her image transposed onto the Russian flag. Harry is given an honorary position in the military and asked to advise on strategy.

Oh my God - this reminds me...

I read a few months ago that one of H's suggestions for content to Netflix or...Spotify (sorry, not up to speed on these organisations) had pitched an idea for a series where he interviews public figures about their childhoods - especially childhood trauma and its effects. OK - unoriginal and samey, but hey.

But the people he suggested! One was Putin, apparently! And this is while the actual war is going on in Ukraine. There was someone else mentioned, almost equally bizarre. No wonder the people they have to work with in these companies despair of them. Idiots!

I'll try and find a reference or link...

That was from an interview with Spotify executive, Bill Simmons, when he called them “fucking grifters”.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 15/05/2024 07:51

Harry had suggested to Bill that he interview Trump and Putin about their terrible childhoods so they could all have a moan together.

I don’t understand Invictus - is no one from there appalled at Meghan seizing this trip for herself? Is the board composed of merely yes men or even Squad members? What is the deal here?

notimagain · 15/05/2024 08:27

I’ve seen a tiny bit of grumbling on Invictus’s official social media outlets such as Facebook but funnily enough it looks like there are maybe few members of the Sussex squad on detached duty to such sites.

Certainly a few posters step in very quickly when anyone posts thoughts that Invictus is becoming too much about “them”.

Not sure if that is sanctioned by the board since the board are happy with the state of affairs, or just can’t be arsed with intervening…..

Lots of unhappy bunnies on other military related social media ATM but I doubt the top neddies go to such places or care.

I suspect they will only step in if there is a danger funding is really going to suffer….

TheCraicDealer · 15/05/2024 08:28

That video of them leaving the airport is revealing. She strides on ahead (two arms the same length I might add), and he’s a few paces behind with another person in between them. She doesn’t so much as glance over her shoulder to see where he is. For any other couple I’d think the body language was a bit odd, but for them who spend every engagement clinging to one another and staring into each others eye? It’s almost as if it’s all an act.

I don’t see this at all. Having done plenty of long haul flights with my husband, I’m just keen to get out, and stride on, it says nothing about my marriage and everything about the fact I’m knackered jet lagged and want to get home. I’m stunned anyone would think it says something if you’re not being lovey dovey or walking together.

MyFunnyDuckDuck · 15/05/2024 08:59

We don't even know that's Markle as her face isn't visible. She might be staying a few more days in Nigeria to explore her new home country or perhaps she has a secret meeting with Charles? That person in the video could be anyone.

Edited

FWIW Local and reports from elsewhere had both of them leaving Abuja on Monday’s BA flight to LHR….

Yes she might decided to have stay in the UK or she might have connected to LAX alongside Harry. Looking at some of the ramp furniture (e.g. the fire extinguisher) and clothing worn by some individuals in that image that’s more likely to be somewhere in the States, such as LAX..

So what’s the probability of it not being Megan?

WhataPithy · 15/05/2024 09:09

The panel show where she wears the red dress is like a sketch from Catherine Tate show Grin

It's definitely her, there was a face on photo of her in that outfit yesterday comparing it to a picture of Diana.

However, if we're into lookalike territory a'la Melania Trump, then there's definitely trouble in paradise (kidding of course).

ajandjjmum · 15/05/2024 09:44

Maybe someone else has nicked her outfit!

This is interesting. Sussex supporters for the Invictus games.

My goodness. I can't believe that people have donated money to this.

AutumnCrow · 15/05/2024 11:11

There’s an awful lot of brand contamination swirling around Invictus now.

I can

i saw a few weeks ago on twitter someone saying I’m going to give you all my money Megan and spend it on jam, it’s embarssing how much money I will give you.!!

I was quite shocked, it was hugely likely from the way it was phrased the person didn’t have much money but wanted to give it to multi millionaire Megan. Many comments of the same ilk.

there seems to be a small minority of people who really are super fans for some reason.

And look who is front and centre. They really, really need to stop her using Invictus as a vehicle for self-promotion. She has no official role or position in the organisation, she has just hi-jacked it for her own purposes.

This is the link that I was referring to yesterday. Can’t believe Invictus would be ok with it. It’s getting shady.

@MummyJ12 The term "sentinel" is disturbing. Will be interesting to see if people leave the organization

I wonder what the demographic of the Sussex Squad is, I don’t imagine apart from the Chiefs at the top (Bouzy, Dutan etc) that they have huge amounts of spare cash to throw at H&M’s endeavours.

Talking of Bouzy has there been any update on him appointing that British firm of solicitors to prove that the Palace used body doubles at the Farm shop?

Thedom · 15/05/2024 12:16

They have raised one thousand quid in the space of 2 or 3 months from 38 donors !!

I think the amount and number of donations is very telling, the Sussex Squad are small in numbers, goading and loud, they are amplified by bots. They don't engage in discussion, they use whataboutery and insults to shut down conversations.

You can see examples of it on a lot of public forums, maybe only two or three are posting vociferously and tag teaming, in an effort to drown out perspectives or criticisms they think may make H&M look bad.

I agree Invictus and other H&M endeavours, are getting very badly tarnished by those purporting to 'have their backs'.

MaturingCheeseball · 15/05/2024 12:27

I remember when some twerps were donating to M&H for their mortgage in Montecito; these are very misguided people. Also some on here stated they were buying multiple copies of Spare Shock

I had a quick look at the official Invictus site and it mentions (though not in huge detail) the Duke and Duchess’s Nigeria trip. So they are ok with their shenanigans even if they are not enthusiastic. I suppose it might be a case of if you want Harry you have to have Meghan (merching and marching).

I wonder if it's related to, or inspired by, Bouzy's "Bot Sentinel."

Abouttimeforanamechange · 15/05/2024 12:40

I suppose it might be a case of if you want Harry you have to have Meghan (merching and marching).

But so often, as in that pic above, Harry is barely visible and it's all Meghan. You'd have to begin to wonder what benefit you're getting from having Harry, and whether it was worth having Meghan too.

Thedom · 15/05/2024 12:59

😂😂absolutely mad LOL

OneHeartySnail · 15/05/2024 13:00

I don't think the IG trustees can do much, even if they want to, it would probably tear the organisation apart very publicly. They have to go along with it.
