@EdithWeston yes, I see makes sense. Some kind of major, international, humanitarian role? On funding can someone else stump up cash effectively?

Abouttimeforanamechange · 14/05/2024 17:05

she says something along the lines of "no-one was surprised to discover I was Nigerian because Nigerian qualities are bravery, power, beauty etc"
I know she gets accused of being narcissistic and I've no idea if this is true but she seems so lacking in self awareness.

It sounds like the sort of thing you'd say to take the piss out of yourself.

"All men are fools, and what makes them so is beauty like what I have got."

Not sure she could ever run for office. She'd need powerful backers and she'd have to listen to advice and do as she was told. And Harry would be a liability, for all sorts of reasons.

@IcedPurple let’s just say I recognise the type, and she has what it takes to go a very long way. Some really do achieve the impossible & unimaginable. It depends on what M ultimately wants.

Like I say, I think our standards are wildly different.

Where does sending C listers poorly labelled jars of strawberry jam fit into these grand ambitions? It's not an obvious path to high political office.

I have safe browsing turned on and just ran 2 full virus scans. McAfee says I am ok.

That was an interesting article. It is hilarious they tracked the spending through MailOnline.

Yes I am too. As I said it was a flogging thing.

Serenster · 14/05/2024 17:10

User14March · 14/05/2024 16:46

@AliceOlive it might be a major humanitarian role in future but she makes her dreams a reality I think. Whatever they may be.

The trouble is, I think that she’d only have ambitions for a major humanitarian role, or a high political office, because of the high status and adulation it would afford her. Not because she actually wants to do the job. People tend to see through that.

TheTallestSally · 14/05/2024 17:12

I may have been deleted but what I said was true.

She has been active in acting roles. 90210 I believe and Suits. The images were plastered everywhere.

I wouldn’t want a ruthless spreadsheet approach if it meant doing that.

You surely didn’t think I meant anything else?

User14March · 14/05/2024 17:16

@Serenster do they? Is Trump in it to help the American working class? Plenty of them think he entirely has their backs.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 14/05/2024 17:17

User14March · 14/05/2024 16:44

@IcedPurple I think she knows what she’s doing.

No one, trust me, gets the kind of role on Suits as she did without a meticulous, planned, ‘spreadsheet’ approach to life/career & usually, IME, a certain ambitious ruthlessness. Too many dismiss her as a two bit actress they have no idea how difficult her trajectory will have been. No hapless fool makes it so far, ever, period. She had more obstacles to overcome too.

I’ve heard it all now, got a bit part on a cable tv show means that she has what it takes to be President, you are too funny 😂

User14March · 14/05/2024 17:19

@IcedPurple when some ex Western star & hero of such epics as ‘Bedtime for Bonzo’ makes president, who knows? I don’t fundamentally disagree it depends on what M ultimately wants & desires. She’s a powerful character.

User14March · 14/05/2024 17:21

@BigWillyLittleTodger a crazy thought, eh. Tell that to Arnie & others who’ve had political high office of some kind, NB: chap above.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 14/05/2024 17:23

Arnie wasn’t president! and as for Reagan he had more than the goods required to be President, you are such a card! 😂

TheTallestSally · 14/05/2024 17:24

Bedtime For Bonzo didn’t contain bedtime acts though.

That is not an image that you want if running for political office.

She is not a 'powerful character'. The only reason anyone cares about her is because she married an intellectually and emotionally challenged British prince. Spotify dumped her and Netflix will likely do the same. 4 years after finding freedom, she is hawking jam and doing pretend royal tours in a poor, dangerous and corrupt nation.

If it weren't for marrying a dim prince, she'd likely be looking for roles in Hallmark movies now. Nothing wrong with that, and perhaps more respectable than whatever it is she's getting up to now, but it's laughable to claim she's a 'powerful character'.

Ronald Reagan wasn’t seen as a credible President because he was an actor. It was because he’d been President of the Screen Actors Guild for 6 years during which he had to deal with the issues of communist blacklisting and disputes over residual payments (an issue which continues today), and he’d been involved in politics since the 1940s.

TheTallestSally · 14/05/2024 17:28

A strong determined woman? Yes.
A powerful character? Arguable.

Yes, but the ones that don’t think that lampoon him mercilessly. I can’t see Meghan having the thick skin required to deal with that. I also think her well documented history of collapsing to the floor in tears would stand her well in the cut and thrust of politics.

Megan is far from a power house. She had the platform and opportunity, yes, she could have used her position in the royal family to be a force to be reckoned with, built a reputation for herself, but she didn’t, she chose celeb and money instead, and sold stories on the royals for cash. Did bitchy interviews, faked her Spotify podcasts, has a failing charity in delinquency, is trying to sell jam and failing at that. And has now hijacked something as important as invictus to boost her own profile. And making rhe charity pay for it.

there is nothing powerful about Megan markle.

User14March · 14/05/2024 17:36

@TheTallestSally I see the two being interchangeable. How influential though? That’s a fair point & time will tell.

Abouttimeforanamechange · 14/05/2024 17:37

I think whatever she (allegedly) suffered when she was with the RF would seem like a picnic in comparison.

Anyone think the collapsing on the floor sobbing was carefully timed to coincide with the sound of Harry's key in the door?

Arnie wasn't president, he was governor, despite the fact he's legendary now , no person from a foreign country can become president of 🇺🇸 .
Which is entirely fair obviously.

IcedPurple · 14/05/2024 15:53

Have you seen the state of the prince?

😂😂😂😂😂

User14March · 14/05/2024 17:38

@JJathome has she boosted Invictus’ profile? Genuine question.

MyFunnyDuckDuck · 14/05/2024 17:40

Meghan for president? Na don't see it. Michelle on the other hand.

jeffgoldblum · 14/05/2024 17:40

Sorry I see others have already posted rebuttals!

User14March · 14/05/2024 17:43

@jeffgoldblum I know on Arnie.
