Camilla's niece who works at Tatler helped him twisted the true position to be favourable to William and Kate.

She says no British print media is allowed to say anything negative about Kate or William. The negative stories must be about Harry and Meghan.

I don't get where the "William is always protected" narrative.

While I'm probably one of William's biggest critic here when it comes to his role as Prince of Wales.

I've heard people say that young Harry would party, get drunk and it would end up in the papers while William's partying days were never covered by the media. It took me 5 seconds to go online and find picture of young William partying, going to nightclubs and even appearing drunk in a few of them.

People forget that pre-Meghan, William and Kate used to get hammered by the media while Harry was the media darling and the most popular member of the RF. Harry's biggest haters like Piers Morgan were writing articles saying that Harry should be King instead of William

William was considered lazy (still is), boring, uninspiring, people accused him of using his children as an excuse not to work, he used to get criticised for being too protective of his children's privacy.

The narrative was that Kate and her social-climbing family plotted for William and Kate to get together, that William didn't really love her and only settled for her because she was the last one standing (some still believe that). There were even articles about Carole being the 3rd person in their relationship.

Also, remember his 2017 trip to Switzerland when William missed the Commonwealth Day to go skiing with his friends. He was then filmed dancing and there was a blurry photo of him with a girl. He was heavily criticised (rightfully so) and they tried to make a cheating scandal out of that

I have trouble understanding the argument, the papers can be gutter press and sell for clicks, well that not something new. Kate and Meghan as both women and marrying in have both been abused. The biggest difference is that Meghan is compared to Kate’s treatment in the same period rather than when Kate entered the royal family. Meghan had despicable racial abuse, Kate had her privacy violated (topless photos and hacking) and mobbed in the street. That royals use PR to up their image, again nothing new and guilty all round. If William is somehow paying/pressurising the press he’s done a pretty shit job. Both brothers have received legal damage done by the press.

What a stupid article. The press aren't helpless victims. The RF don't hold any censorship powers. The Palace could only "plant" stories if the papers wanted them to do it - they aren't actually obliged to print anything the RF tell them to. There's nothing to stop them printing negative stories about W&K (which they have done in abundance as recent press proves) either, except slander - wanting to print untrue, defamatory material but being prevented from doing so by libel law isn't victimhood either. And whatever you might think of William, the man is dealing with both his wife and father having cancer. What sort of mind thinks trotting out discredited, disprovable old bollocks like this right now is in good taste or even remotely decent behaviour?

I think it was Serenster on another thread that debunked this little conspiracy theory @Begsthequestion. The Mirror story referenced a DM story which was about Harry but for reasons unknown in the Mirror it was erroneously transposed to Kate. It suits the country for the monarchy to be popular and successful. Kate is a key, arguably THE key current member. It's beyond belief that since she entered the scene she hasn't, in fact, put a foot wrong as the press would have you believe. It's beyond belief that she always looks as immaculate as the press would print. How are there never any photos of her looking a bit windy, a bit tired, a bit lazy, just normal?? No photos of her eating or drinking, no photos of her in a bikini on the beach etc. She's a human being, just like everyone else albeit literally millions of times richer. Same could be said for the late Queen. Never anything other than favourable reports. So, I can totally believe that between two major pillars of the establishment - the monarchy and the press - a deal has been cut. Plenty of access in return for favourable reporting and photographing.

Equally, I can totally believe that that agreement only extends as far as the main players. I can totally believe that it would have excluded anyone not in the line of succession....just as it did with Andy and Edward and Anne. The press want to exert their power, and the deal would probably only extend as far as children/minors and the main principals. So, not Harry or Meghan.

What Harry doesn't seem to understand is that William gets favourable treatment in his capacity as heir to the throne. If Harry had been born first, he would have got that treatment and William and Kate would have been press fodder. But then Harry wouldn't have been free to do any of the things he's been able to do and William hasn't (eg raise his children in total privacy, free to self-determine. Not a price many parents would be prepared to pay). Say what you like about Andy (and there's plenty to say, obvs) and Edward and Anne, they understood their supporting roles and that they got the long straws in the end.

Neither William nor Kate get "favourable treatment" in the press.
Anyone making that bizarre claim obviously hasn't read anything at all, or informed themselves of much, particularly in the last few months.

Obviously I can't comment on your claim that a deal has probably been cut, but reading your post it occurs to me that these are both women constantly in the public eye, photographed wherever they go and whatever they're doing; so perhaps the press decided that not taking (or at least not publishing) pictures of them when they're feeling off or relaxing is to afford them a little bit of the privacy the rest of us take for granted. Perhaps as well there's a thought that showing for example HM stuffing her face would detract both from the dignity of the woman and the office - let's face it, unfortunate pics of most people don't go any further than the family WhatsApp - pics of HM or Kate would be all around the world.

And frankly, they're entitled to be off and grumpy and tired and lazy and stuffing their faces without cameras shoved at them all the time and millions of us gawping at them. They're humans, not zoo animals.
