William Threatened Tatler and Camilla's niece help plant story

In the audio, the journo explains what happened when she referred to Kate as being thin.
William rang Tatler and The Daily Mail, arranged lunch with them and his staff to plant stories.
Camilla's niece who works at Tatler helped him twisted the true position to be favourable to William and Kate.

She says no British print media is allowed to say anything negative about Kate or William. The negative stories must be about Harry and Meghan.

@StormzyinaTCup well after that diatribe of shite she could write for Mills and Boon if the jam doesn't work out

shenandoahvalley · 29/04/2024 19:22

When she landed in Canada, Meghan said she 'collapsed' into the arms of one of her and Harry's security guards.
The Duchess said: 'I was like, "I tried so hard!" And he was like, "I know you did. I know you did Ma'am. I know you did.'"

I've just given this little section 20 seconds' thought. It's a 12ish hour flight from London to Vancouver. At the time and for about 6 weeks, their security was RPOs. Were these RPOs on the flight with them? If not, surely that was a security risk. If they were, was Meghan suggesting that she held it together, kept it all in, for the duration of the flight and then, as soon as they got on the tarmac, met up with the security guy (who presumably flew coach, otherwise she could have more discreetly sought comfort en route) and fell into his open and manly, comforting arms? Whitney Houston, anyone? "I tried so hard" is what a child would say to a parent, not a wife to a husband or an employer to an employee. Couldn't she wait till she met her mum? Or a friend? Why did it have to be the bodyguard? It's just so bizarre, all of it. How on earth does she think anyone would believe this tripe?

I've just done another minute's research, watched the relevant clip (muted, too unbearable otherwise). She was TOTALLY acting for the camera when she said this!! Sooooo obvious she was playing the part of a hard-done-by princess, vulnerable in her beauty, striving to be strong and be bigger and better than them. Argh, it's just AWFUL teenaged behaviour! So cringeworthy!

The two of them are perfect for each other, aren't they?

WhataPithy · 29/04/2024 19:45

They both seem to suffer from arrested development.

I think there should be a telenovela type soap opera about the Meghan and Harry story. All sorts of improbable drama, sobbing, weeping, collapsing, sacrificing their lives yet getting nothing in return!
Some scenes of nudity and racist language

That could be a good Netflix earner. 😜

Thank you for the interesting discussion. I’ve just caught up on the thread. Some great wit and such a pleasure to read.

@WhataPithy and @EasternStandard its from their Netflix series (episode 5)

No word of lie, you could drop that entire scene, word for word, into The Windsors…

You really could🤣

Thanks @StormzyinaTCup ! It was such a drivel, I fast forwarded quite a bit, clearly missed this gem.

none of us can claim to know unless we were there

Well there's several millennia of human history fucked. Where do I hand my degree back?

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 29/04/2024 21:11

Ah, I used to love The Windsors, so very funny. RIP Haydn Gwynne.

ArcaneWireless · 29/04/2024 22:43

I loved HG ever since Drop The Dead Donkey.

A fabulous actress.

SuziQuinto · 30/04/2024 07:36

Meanwhile, Sophie has gone to Ukraine and met with women who are victims of rape.
She has made a very moving speech about rape being used as a weapon of war.
What a contrast.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 30/04/2024 07:55

So much of what Sophie does is ignored or overlooked. I really admire her.

And I'm getting deja vu all over again from the last five or six pages of this thread.

OneHeartySnail · 30/04/2024 08:05

I think Sophie is an excellent example of overcoming bad judgement - and associated bad press - by learning from it.

And also of showing how to.use being a member of the RF as a platform for her chosen causes. It isn't short term glamour and headlines, but a steady, low profile but consistent approach.

Similar to Anne, but from a 'married in'.

MummyJ12 · 30/04/2024 09:17

Sophie is certainly proving herself to be the asset that she is and is finally getting the recognition she deserves.
Completely agree @SuziQuinto what a contrast!

EdithWeston · 30/04/2024 09:26

It took a couple of decades of unexceptional carrying out of royal duties before she was rehabilitated. She used to be the subject of total scorn and derision, and of being utterly unworthy of being a member of the RF

I think her work on VAWG, against FMG and against rape as a tool of war gets way less coverage than it should (eg her South Sudan visit) but it is good to see that the Ukraine visit is very much in the news, including that she had a focus on those who have endured sexual violence and torture

Mummyoflittledragon · 30/04/2024 10:54

I agree with the comments about Sophie. So much to be admired. I hope that what she does continues to be reported on more widely.
