William Threatened Tatler and Camilla's niece help plant story

In the audio, the journo explains what happened when she referred to Kate as being thin.
William rang Tatler and The Daily Mail, arranged lunch with them and his staff to plant stories.
Camilla's niece who works at Tatler helped him twisted the true position to be favourable to William and Kate.

She says no British print media is allowed to say anything negative about Kate or William. The negative stories must be about Harry and Meghan.

Well, there goes that career

Anna’s work regularly features in just about every British national newspaper including The Sunday Times, The Daily Telegraph and the Daily Mail as well as in magazines such as Vanity Fair, Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Town & Country, and Tatler

Regularly is a bit of an overstatement, IMO. I can't imagine the papers will take kindly to being accused of being RF puppets.

And what better way to prove they're not puppets than to commission an article or three from Ms Pasternak? She's not daft.

SuziQuinto · 25/04/2024 18:49

Well, that's good - if the allegations are true, Harry and Meghan should not be protected.

Yes, could well be.
Would be interesting to know, assuming Palace staff sign NDAs, if these NDAs had expiration dates.

I'd also very much like to know if they're applicable internationally, Stormzy, or only in the country where they were signed

I've googled it of course, but keep seeing that it depends on the statutes in the "other country", which doesn't really get me any further

Any kind of contractual agreement, including an NDA, will have a governing law clause setting out what legal system applies to it, and which courts have jurisdiction to enforce it. So Palace employment contracts, which will likely include the obligations to keep everything you learn in the course of your role confidential, will be governed by English law and subject to the English courts.

This means you generally have to enforce that obligation in the courts of England. If your former employer had moved to, say, Italy and started telling all about you in Italy, you still have to bring your claim in England first and then enforce the English judgement against them in the courts in Italy.

if what they are doing is against the general law in Italy anyway - I don’t know, but imagine the former employer stole your diary and was publishing it in Italy for example - then you could go straight to the courts in Italy to stop that. But if you need to rely on your NDA to argue that what they are doing is wrong, you have to start with its governing law/governing courts.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 25/04/2024 23:04

Yet again many thanks, @Serenster - that clarifies things very helpfully Flowers

This is pretty much what Harry wrote in Spare.

This.
It's exactly what he said.
No wonder they upped and left, I would to with that level of toxic shit show.

The floodgates are definitely opening on the bullying allegations against M&H

https://www.thesun.co.uk/royals/27516648/meghan-and-harry-rip-apart-royal-staff/

Something has provoked this revival, in fairness. A couple of royal stories from before Megxit are being revisited. Maybe what exactly the catalyst is will become clear. Maybe not.

It's also undoubtedly true that some horse trading goes on between the palaces and the respectable media. That can't be stretched to say the RF control the press, though, and certainly not the tabloids.

But..... this whole thread is on what it's being said now by someone else who's in the business?!
So if you think critically, why would it not be true if they're just basically confirming what he said a year or so ago in his book?!

But it’s not “now”, is it? It’s an old story from 2020. It’s quoted in @Nono22972 ’s post on page 2. It was an article that William threatened to sue for defamation over because it was an attack on Carole Middleton amongst other things

MummyJ12 · 26/04/2024 20:42

I don’t have an instagram account so can’t click on the link but I thought this was an old story?
With regards negative stories concentrating on M&H. Harry is the gift that keeps giving so there is no need for any persuasion or agreement there. This is the guy who is staying silent on the African Parks scandal and who wants us to foot 60% of his huge legal bills that he’s racked up, taking his vanity case against the home office to court, the cheeky so and so.

ArcaneWireless · 26/04/2024 20:49

I was under the impression that it was the toxic shit show that upped and left…

SuziQuinto · 26/04/2024 21:02

Unfortunately, the credibility of the Sussexes is very low. Their amusement value is quite high, though.

Vespanest · 26/04/2024 23:58

even if you believe that William has this power who is leaking on Harry now. Kensington palace have no insight and if anything the rumours and bad press have got worse, some are speculative nonsense but some have turned out to been true. The reality there are gossips everywhere, it’s why the royal families bubble is small. I know more shit about Harry, Meghan, William, Catherine, Charles and Camilla from Harry than I have got from the tabloids in the last ten years.

They upped and left because they didn't get their own way. And are still pretty miffed they're out. But of course it's somebody else's fault. It always is with them. So that's nothing new.

This story has already been talked about in 2020. Tatler and KP were in conflict for months over this article but let's not try to rewrite history.

I actually read the original article and the problem with the article wasn't just about the "Kate's thin" comment.

The article was called "Catherine the Great" but it was anything but great for Kate. A lot of the article was focused on pitting her against Meghan. It was Kate the great vs Meghan the evil manipulator.

Then, it painted a negative picture of Kate's family basically calling Carole a social-climbing snob, Pippa fake and Kate being bland (which was actually a praise in the article because it made her assimilation into the RF easier). It is implied that Kate is faking her accent to sound more posh

"The Middletons will always have close ranks. None of them can quite believe that they have hit the jackpot."

The article also said that William has a weird obsession with Carole: "She's the mummy he always wanted"

The article then basically paints Kate as a manipulator, the ultimate power player in the family.

"She has a ruthless survival streak, just like the House of Windsor. It's why she is so well-suited. She keeps her head down because the price of being Queen is so great".

Hilary Mantel's comment about Kate being a plastic princess is mentioned

It also mentioned Rose in the article and her falling out with Kate due to Rose's ‘apparent closeness to William’ (Tatler also has several articles on their website about Rose and the affair rumours but I thought evil William and KP forbade the media from talking about it. Last time I checked, Tatler is a British publication).

The article also mentions Kate's weight, saying that "Kate has become perilously thin, just like – some point out – Princes Diana" which basically gave credit to the rumours that have been out there for years that she has an eating disorder

The article then quotes one of her "friends" (we don't know who it is) saying that “Kate is furious about the larger workload. Of course she’s smiling and dressing appropriately but she doesn’t want this. She feels exhausted and trapped. She’s working as hard as a top CEO, who has to be wheeled out all the time, without the benefits of boundaries and plenty of holidays.”

"Kate and William wanted to be hands-on parents and the Sussexes have effectively thrown their 3 children under the bus"

After that, KP threatened to take legal action. They went back and forth for months. In the end, the article was edited

Edited

A load of stirring then, sounds like the writer messed up and can’t see that

“carve out a progressive new role within this institution”

^^ What H&M wanted.

^^ Also what H&M didn't get.

Followed by a 4 year flounceathon, with a jam topping. This is a carnival sideshow, not camelot. And I rather imagine the sideshow is fairly lucrative for everyone involved except H&M. I wonder when they'll notice?

Viviennemary · 27/04/2024 08:59

Carve out a progressive new role. Hmm. Means take as many freebies as they could. Make money on the side. Elbow to the front on all royal occasions. Carry on whining and causing trouble.

Wonder why the Queen said no way.

I know I am pretty ancient but my memory is still good and I distinctly remember them wanting to stay but on their terms .
Laughable when you look back . As if the late Queen would “ collaborate “ with those two numpties 😂

Yes, me too. Especially the presumptuousness of 'collaborating' with the head of state; and actually thinking HM was going to let that slide. PH woefully underestimated his DGM and forgot that not only was she head of the family, she was head of the Family and was perfectly capable of keeping the two entities apart.

As we saw and he learned; or more likely, didn't learn

StormzyinaTCup · 27/04/2024 09:33

A wise woman HMTLQ, she knew a 'bum deal' when she saw one. Shame Spotify didn't have her foresight.

HM had been dealing with all sorts of people much tougher than Harry for decades and was a very shrewd operator. I'm sure it pained her a good deal to say 'Nope, you're not having that' to a loved grandson but she was looking at the good of the Royal Family above the family. And as it turns out, she was an even better judge of character than she knew.
